Louie isn't touching the heater...but he is as close as possible!!! All 3 of the cats LOVE the heater on when we are in the family room.

I don't blame Louie at all. He has the best spot in the house unless there is a lap available.

Hi pirate girl! I frequent the Hoya forum quite often. I purchased a lot of my Hoyas from EBay... But purchased two supposed EA lacunosas from big box retailers that look completely different from each other. I received an ID from the Hoya forum of my dark green as Ruby Sue and the lighter I was just guessing as Tove. You know how spotty their labeling can be. The Aeoniums that have the larger more sporadic looking leaves were labeled as "Voodoo" and listed two parent plants with Schwarzkopf being one of them. The other more bushy aeonium was purchased from an eBay seller in San Diego calling it Blushing Beauty... Not sure on that one. I have tried to be very precautious with the Hindu Rope as well as all of the clearance bin babies. Most I have systemically sprayed with a Neem/Soap/Alcohol mix I found in the Hoya forum. Admittedly, it is a pain in the rear!!! And I'm sure the Echeveria will only be tolerant of sprays if they are few and far between. The Aeoniums don't seem to mind at all. I realize it's a gamble, but they just won't make it outside in a N TX winter. I'm crossing my fingers!!! Anyhow, thank you for the advice and info. And thank you, thank you to Kathi and Hoovb! ~Sara

Greylady gardener, haha, I can see it now....quick run here comes that lady trying to give me plants again. Wait...I think I have that reputation already....especially with purple and white bearded iris. LOL! Primgal36, Not all seeds can be winter sowed. If the instructions say they need heat..like 80 degrees...then I wouldn't try them. But most of the ordinary seeds can be winter sowed in your zone. I don't want to discourage you.....my zone is very different than most. And don't forget you can also just sprinkle or plant some seed right in place in very early spring. Doesn't help with the winter blahs, but sure makes it easier. Ask as many questions as you want here....there is a great bunch here always willing to help...we all asked a lot of questions when we started out too. Hey Triple b, what dahlias did you order this year and from where? I am starting pom pon and cactus dahlias from seed this year. Then I plan on seeing what Costco has in the bags this year when the $3 coupon is on in March. I really loved the small single dahlias I got from there last year. Guess its time to pop over to the dahlia forum. :) Sierra

Thanks Woodnative, will try to remember come Spring. Spring, oh there's a thought; I have just completed my first week in apmt 6 stories up (I use a cane), no elevator, light or heat. But blessed that I do have running water & a working stove. But when the temps dropped into the low 30s yesterday, is just too cold in the apmt. Am staring to wonder if the plants are going to suffer. Saturday, during the day in the light, I hope to assess the plants & their condition. Cross your fingers. Am hoping all the Sans. will be fine if I remember not to water them.

cleo, The 2 'Tainers are just used to "incubate" the seedlings outside, for the next 30 days, or so. Then I put 2 plants per 31 gallon container. The pipe is to send water to the reservoir underneath the plant base. See this link for additional info. Raybo Here is a link that might be useful: EarthTainer II WaterMizer Edition Guide

Blossom sleeps right on a heat vent. Usually in the morning after I get up. Otherwise, she stays in my bathroom, and she'll push the door shut to make it even warmer in there.

LOL Louie is smart!
Turn any kind of electric heater on here and you fight the dogs for a spot in front of it!

Those heaters are great, especially when your heat goes out, and you have to buy one when temps inside are 51 when you wake. brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

He looks real comfy! Sandy, is it safe to lay something right on top of the heater like that? I'm so paranoid, doesn't even have to be my house and I worry!

Our beasts all pile up around the wood stove, which only has a pan of water on it! ;)

Flamey...we usually don't have anything on it, I had my rice bag on me when I went to get the camera...so I laid it on there. Honestly tho, they are more like the old radiator heat, they don't get 'that' hot....radiant heat.

LOL that is how Eddie is in the 5th wheel. I always have a little heater going for him and Ivy since it is so drafty and I swear one day he is going to catch himself on fire...Stacy

All three of my Dogs love the heater, fireplace, heated chair massagers, and the Heat Pad. Burrowing under blankets.

South Texas dogs aren't use to the cold.

Tikki hogs the warm side of my bed. I usually only turn one side of my electric mattress pad on and put my feet on that side where Tikki is.
Cute picture of Louie.

He looks like my late "angelpookieboy," who used to sleep on top of the floor heater with a silly, drunken look on his face. Do white kitties feel the cold more?

Smart Louie cat! :)

My Stash girl has learned if she hangs over the arm of the couch, the heat from the wall furnace is right where she needs it. :)
