I don't know how to do photoshop, but have you checked out the GW Finished Kitchens Blog? On the right of the page, you will a "Finished Blacksplashes Slideshow" and an "Inspirational Backsplashes"--maybe these can help you envision your own?

I'm not that great at photoshopping granite because it's not a simple cut and paste but maybe if you post your photos someone will see it and give it a whirl.

Are you against having a tile backsplash? There are so many gazillion options of tile out there.

Thanks for reminding me about the inspirational backsplashes - I have become so narrowly focused on my needs that I seem to ignore things at the sides of pages. I will set aside some time later today and watch the slideshow.

Personally, me no like the gray (not that you asked...lol) and I wonder if these would be hard to clean. Do you know?

I think either of those would work with your cabinetry. I think it depends on whether you want a "warm" look (the Golden beach) or a "cool" look (the Bianco Antico). Personally, I prefer the Golden Beach.

Are you keeping the brick?

I'd imagine that what you choose for the back splash will be on the counter as well?

Are the cabs creamy or white? It's hard to tell from the photo's.

If they are creamy, I like the Golden Beach. The first think that came to my mind when I looked at your cabinets was subway tile in a cream color.

If they are white, the Bianco Antico. with white subway tile BS.

I am more prone to simple BS's. I think the focal points should be the cabinets and the counters. Anything busy for the BS would take away their beauty.

Am I the only one who thinks that the backsplash and the countertop are conflicting with one another? I think since the countertop is multi-colored, you might want to just pick up one of the colors and go with a simpler backsplash.

I think the cabinet picture posted is from the showroom and the granite samples are what she is wanting to use.
Anyway I like the Golden Beach for some contrast, I think a different backsplash such as subway tile would look better than the granite. By the way your inset cabinets are beautiful!

I love the golden beach. What color are the floors? Can we see more of the kitchen?

I'm kind of leaning to having the golden beach as the backsplash.

I really prefer some sort of tile for the backsplash. But the finished kitchens blog that Organic posted, has so many photos it would be hard Not to come up with a decision. And have you thumbed through any kitchen decorating magazines in the grocery store? They have a ton of great ideas.

Oh my gosh! Thanks everyone for your ideas and thanks to Maureen for helping with the photoshop part. The Golden Beach looks really nice. But the cabinets in the photo are as shown in the kitchen company's showroom and they are under a spotlight, so they look more beigey. Plus, the backsplash and counter shown is the one in the showrooom, not mine. Without the lights, I think that the cabinets are more white, but with the lights they are more creamy. That is part of the reason why I am stuck between these two granites.

The kitchen company has almost finished building my cabinets and the installation date is set for January but not yet finalized - very soon.

I need to pick a granite for the counters, but my husband really wanted to continue with whatever is chosen for the counters and extend it up to a full backsplash. Part of the reason for doing so is because this would eliminate having to make more choices and this is a big deal for us right now because I have a lot of neck problems and other health issues that keep interfering with my going out and looking for kitchen stuff and making decisions.

Despite my husband, I too thought that a granite backsplash would look too heavy and that tiles would be better, but given my health, I too started to think that just finishing it all in granite would be the easiest wasy out. I will have to show him the photoshop result when he comes back from work tonight.

I guess that in the end we could finish the counters with Golden Beach granite or whatever and leave the backsplash for a while until I am more ready to go out and look for backsplash tiles.
