Our tv stations are doing the testing to see if your tv is ready for going digital.

If you see the green check, you are fine, and RED then you need to call them to tell you what to do.

I'm fine, are you?

Apparently it is nationwide!

On February 17, 2009 all full-power broadcast television stations in the United States will stop broadcasting on analog airwaves and begin broadcasting only in digital. Digital broadcasting will allow stations to offer improved picture and sound quality and additional channels.

And the govt has been offering coupons to those that need it to help buy the converter boxes.

I usually try to check my order before leaving but in reality, don't always. And of course you know WHEN the mistake will happen! Mostly, I check to see that, for instance if I order to sandwiches and a fry, I see if there's two sandwiches and a fry in there. On burgers I order just ketchup. Interestingly at Burger King, I've found there's a WAY to say it, to get what you want. Do not say "just ketchup", you need to say "ketchup ONLY". Never a problem since. It's using THEIR lingo. The new thing I've run into is the way they push upsizing. "Small" costs $1.50 more! You have to say "value size". I started saying "whatever size is the price you advertise". I've made them change it more than once. I do like to think that most of these places truly do want to try to make things right when there's a legitimate problem. And yes, if they don't know about it, there's nothing they can do to improve. So we as customers do owe it to them to let them know when there's a problem. You were very reasonable Glenda. Many would be expecting they give them the world for a mistake. Hopefully they can straighten things out and you can return to being a satisfied customer at their establishment. I understand the business's frustration too, what with people threatening all sorts of things and the like. Everyone knows that nobody in their right mind will sue for a burger mishap. But it makes for good laughs at the water cooler. And really, some of these mistakes are just people not paying attention to their job. And that's a big frustration of mine. I don't care if you're a CEO of a gigantic corporation or a floor sweeper in an office. If you don't take pride in your work, you're incompetent. So many of these mistakes are so easily avoided. After all the health issues lately I've been forced to eat out much more. I'm tired of of. Been buying more groceries lately and doing light cooking at home. And appreciating it much more. I'm sure many would laugh at my menus of late but compared to drive through... it's gourmet cuisine!

Yes, I saw the opening stadium display last night. On the day before, I had heard about it when the bews media noted workers checking cards with seat numbers. What I did not know beforehand was how big it was going to be. I had in mind it would be like the flip card section at a college foorball game - I was far off on that estimate. The display was huge. It used all the seats in the lower sections. The blue field with a few white stars covered all of the section opposite the grandstand, and then wavy stripes flowed from the blue field all the way around the remainder of the stadium. It was awesome. The Star Spangled Banner was nicely sung punctuated with a flyover of 4 fighter jets. I wonder who coordinated this. That's got to be quite a chore - so many opportunities for things to go wrong.

Pk actually the person who posted the info on FB said if I gave her name SHE would get credit. Passport America is supposed to give members 50% off many different rv campsites across the country. I just didn't know why it disappeared. So if it got flagged and removed, I don't get notified that it was removed and told why? Just wondering. I certainly didn't mean to break any rule. No biggie.

We had the test last week. I passed because I have Dish network. But I did get a converter box for the trailer/cabin.

Nope- we failed to see it. We will lose our one and only channel next month. We have decided to skip the whole converter box thing.

trish, I did hear from my nephew he gets more channels after attatching the converter box. Maybe you'll get more too.

They are out of converter boxes in our area. We are on satellite but receive the local stations via antenna..Hope we can get some soon.

Oh, I know about going digital...

but I have not heard about any green checks.

Not that it matters for me anyways; I have no analog TVs.

I have two converters sitting in the kitchen waiting to be installed. Maybe if I leave them there, I will get homework done instead of watching TV!

A Red sign means you are not ready for the new digital system and you need a converter box.

I heard a couple days ago that the government has run out of the coupons for the converter boxes. I guess they will be printing more.

I haven't heard anything about green or red checks though. Did they announce ahead of time when they would be doing that?

I have Comcast and they have said we are "covered" but I notice that the "cover" is costing me more now.

Around here the stations have been doing weekly "system checks" for viewers since about November. We don't get a green check ... but if our TV setup isn't digital compatable, we won't get a picture, just static and garbled sound. My only TV affected is in the basement, so we'll put a converter box down there. DH had talked about getting rid of the antenna a couple years ago, I guess we'll keep it til the 18th of Feb now to see if we need it for the sets that aren't on cable.
