That's what hubs just said to me....

He just commented, "Ah, it's really nice just sitting around in your robe and slippers all weekend; not having to get dressed and go anywhere."

I said, "I've been telling you that for years."

He replied, "I know. I should have listened to you sooner."

That's exactly what my hubs and I have done today. He commented that it was nice just laying around. LOL I don't even feel guilty!

I did that yesterday...didn't even get dressed! LOL! AND took a nap!
Today I had to bust butt to get the laundry done....go get some groceries...cook supper,scrub floors and clean the kitchen.Now I'm relaxing....

Where in Oregon are you? If you are in Portland or Salem there is no such thing as too sunny except for some of them that fade. Yes, they need to be hard pruned the first few years or you get the long scraggly growth most of the time. Yes, you can leave it to grow down the rest of the season though it may grow up. If you are in Portland or Salem and not Bend, for instance, you can hard prune now too.

My nice DH said he doesn't want me to look at this forever and hate so we can tear it out and tile. Maybe we should caulk up the gap and see if that looks terrible and then if it does, tear it out. If it's okay, I guess we could leave it. Or maybe I should just tile it and be done with it. What a waste of time and $$.

Here's a tip - you don't need to fan the rice. It's done to make it glossier for restaurant service, but when it comes down to it, it serves no purpose as far as taste goes. If you don't want to fuss with making rolls, an easy family dinner is Chirashi sushi: just the rice-vinegar-sugar served in bowls, with the various toppings added separately to each diner's tastes. Yes, sushi is very simple to make. It's one of the reasons I lost interest in it after a while - growing up it was picnic food, so I always think of it in relation to hot dogs and burgers, LOL! The only one I'm still very fond of is inarizushi: a fried tofu skin (aburaage) that's been cooked in a sweet-soy sauce based sauce, drained then stuffed with sushi rice. You can buy the aburaage ready-made in cans. A deluxe version is made with mixing chopped shiitake mushrooms, diced carrots, and baby peas into the rice. My husband is a sucker for the tamago, the egg roll/pancake. Easy to make in small amounts, when I'm being very nice to him! Here is a link that might be useful: A website for sushi rolls

There are lots of great books on Audible. Consult the NY Times Best Seller lists for suggestions. I listen to books when driving (alone) and when exercising. I use MP3 players rather than my smartphone, they're cheaper and I have less concern about their exposure to sweat and dropping. Listening to audiobooks has significantly improved my listening skills. Any slight distraction of thought will make me lose the flow of the story and cause me to do a rewind. I've become much more attentive over the years in meetings and social settings because I know any change of conscious thought distracts me from the discussions happening in front of me. In a live discussion, there's no rewind button. Although in many meetings and discussions, both a rewind AND a fast forward button could be useful.

I did that on Friday, it feels so good sometimes to just not get dressed and not have to go anywhere. It helped that the weather was cold and dreary too. I love dark, dreary days especially on weekends and I call them cozy days for staying in. LOL

Your DH should have listened sooner. LOL

often we try to get all the things we have to do before noon and then it's quiet time the rest of the day...(not so today...helped ds1)dh has a high stress job so it's important...

even when the kids were little, sunday was regroup day...we rarely did anything after church...our fave was to fold out the hide-a-bed, all pile on and do games, watch football, or talk...

i don't know how families do it these days...they never seem have time to breathe!
