General A/C Question - Dehumidification

Ok, I'm not sure 'dehumidification' is actually a word...but here goes.

We're getting ready to replace our furnace and A/C unit with a packaged (outside) unit from (probably) York or Luxaire.

We're also going to zone the house - probably 2 zones 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs.

My question is on the size of the A/C. Right now in summer months (we live in southern NJ) we run a portable dehumidifier to keep the humidity in the house down. The A/C doesn't seem to do it on its own.

I would think that this normally indicates an oversized unit, yet at the same time we have areas too warm and areas too cool.

A load calc will be done (though its an older 30+ yrs home), but is it possible that the zoning and a good balancing of the replacement system will help the humidity level?
