Apologies to dotmom and the KT about the joke

For the joke in which I expressed my opinion, it got pulled by GW. It never entered my mind that they would do that. I did not request it get pulled, and I would not have expressed my opinion if I thought that it would.

My opinion was not expressed in harsh, inflammatory terms, so I am genuinely perplexed as to why it was pulled.

So...my apologies.

It may not have been pulled due to my post, but we'll never know. But if it was...sorry!

I just posted on that post my DM.. I can't imagine that the peeps in charge have time to read every thread.. I would think that making a comment about offense wouldn't get the post pulled. I think someone has to actually email the peeps in charge and make a stink, before it gets pulled.

the posts here are for peeps to comment on... and not everyone agrees with everyone else... that would be a dull world afterall! lol

I have never met my "cousin" Des Arc Ya Ya in person, but pictures she has posted here sure make me think of my Aunt Grace. Incidentally, we discovered our common ancestors right at the KT, when someone asked about names in family trees. When are you coming to NC, Cousin?

I agree with Jannie that we are all friends here. And I'm proud of Jannie and Dotmom for being so classy! Friends can have differing opinions on any subject...we just get past that because nothing is worth losing a friendship. Hugs to all my KT sisters and brothers!

The first two KTer's I met were Pat Lavender and FranCes....and my sister embarrassed me. She insisted on going with me in case one of them was an axe murderer. But now I know Wildchild is really the axe murderer. The only reason I have survived our visits is because I take her to Jocko's for steak. I remember going to a get together at Joni's in Ventura long ago and then a couple of them in Bakersfield I have pictures from a Tehachapi trip. I got rescued by Flamingo from a shopping mall in Branson...I think it was Branson. It is really great meeting KTers and hope anyone who travels on the central coast of California will contact me.

I can't believe no one has mentioned "Doggie"!!He wasn't around long I think Spike banned him over something...I just remember when his wife came in and posted that he had passed away suddenly...He wrote the most incredible poem...I'll share it with ya... "Doctor Time" When we lose a loved one and we're in despair Doctor Time is already there He's treating us all, we're unaware When our loved one is gone and on their way Doctor Time helps us move on day to day He treats the anger, grief and sorrow with a medicine he calls "Tomorrow" As the days, weeks and months go by we just look back and wonder why Such a beautiful person had to die But deep inside we feel okay We have lived to see another day He's calmed the anger, grief and sorrow, we took the medicine he calls "Tomorrow" Doctor Time has one thing to say Time heals all wounds day by day I remember he posted this poem to someone's post who had lost a loved one and he died shortly thereafter...

I didn't see the joke, just sobed it. I do some jokes and know some I never go to.

Not every joke is funny to everyone. You have every right to experess your veiw, especially if you did it the way you said.

One thing I've found it's always funny unless it touches on something that's dear to you.

This is my signature line on another messageboard:

Never apologize for showing feeling. When you do so, you apologize for truth."
    Â Benjamin Disraeli

You have nothing to be sorry about. Something bothered you, and you have every right to feel the way you do. :o) I just wish I had seen that joke so I could know what you all read! LOL

I read it...but can't even remember what it was about now...so it must not have offended me....LOL

And I'm getting rather sick of all the tattling and post pulling.

Mntwomanbc said, "I did not request it get pulled, and I would not have expressed my opinion if I thought that it would." . I trust this.

    Hi again pattico,

What a sorry lot we humans are - something sticks in our craw ...

... and we remember it for weeks.

Doesn't offend us - forgotten by tomorrow (or is it the day after?)!!

Do you figure that God may have had anything to do with that ...

... or did we dig it up on our own, do you think?

I guess I missed the whole thing. Try not to worry about it, okay?

well as you are almost all aware..there is another place where a lot of the old KTer's hang out....follow the yellow brick road....

wow, a sincere public apology from a nice kter and I find it rather sad she is told to follow the yellow brick road. She didn't do anything wrong except maybe offend a kt board queen bee. Personally I doubt she even thought her comment meant anything UNTIL dot made a big deal out of it. Your damned if you commment here and told to take the road out when you do. The kt is going down the poop hole real fast. All she made was a post to a thread. She didn't pull the post.Give her a break, it's one opinion, hers. If your all going to mad at someone, talk to Tamara or who ever does the post pulling. Is the moon full?

Thanks, toni and others, for the words of support.

If I had thought my expressed opinion would result in such snarky feedback from some KTers, I doubly would not have posted. I guess I'm just digging it in now. :(

Give me some credit for at least 'fessing up, if my post did, in fact, result in its being pulled. But again, we'll never know.

My expressed opinion, in noninflammatory language, was about the joke promulgating erroneous stereotypes about gays. Most gays I know are not and have never been cross-dressers, and to perpetuate that image in the general public does them a disservice. If I'm a little touchy about this, too bad.

I just read the joke at the (other forum) MH and didn't find it offensive at all. Matter of fact I had read it before and thought it was funny and promptly forgot about it. Didn't see anything wrong with it. Guess some folks must have gotten their panties in a wad. As the saying goes if you don't like something just SOB just maybe others find it funny.

This place just seems to get worse with all the post pulling and tattling. What happened to the fun place we all looked forward to going to every morning?

There have been HUNDREDS of times when 'I' felt some comment was uncalled for or not necessary BUT I didn't call them out BECAUSE we all are free to make up our own minds about what we want to say within the rules of ivillage and thathomesite. I pretty much figure, if that's what they think that day, maybe their just feeling fiesty, or feeling crappy or just plain feel they want to let it out, I'll sob EVEN the negative comments. Now we all have to think alike and never make a negative remark. yea, right. Should we point out someone everytime we don't like what they have to say? No. It's not that the joke was funny or not, it's the fact that someone can say, I didn't care for that and the next 40 people will love it and life goes on. I don't know who pulled the joke, neither does mtnwomanbc.
Seems lots of us are having health problems, family problems, who knows, some kinda problem. I want to say a good word for each and everyone but I do feel kinda down about all of it too. I don't even talk about my health problems so not to add to all of it. I'm dealing with it with my family and friends and learning to laugh about it too. I think there are lots of reasons we're all a bit on edge but one measly comment shouldn't cause such a reaction. It's not fair.

Toni I don't think Ont gal was giving anyone a send off by her comment. I took it to mean she was inviting folks to join the group at the other place where we are allowed to have outr disagreements without posts being pulled.

Mtnwoman because I live near you of course I also have many gay friends and know several cross dressers. I agree that the joke was not an accurate representation of gay and transvestites but few jokes about anything ever are. I'm sorry your voicing an opinion caused you and others so much grief. I certainly don't view you as someone who would snitch and I admire you for coming back and posting.

This tattling is really getting out of hand here. I only hope that anyone who has ever tattled is reading and recognizes themselves for the sad, desperate, self-esteem lacking,ineffectual,low-functioning people they are.

I just posted on the other thread so I won't repeat everything.
    - You have nothing to apologize about for expressing an opinion.
    - Expressing an opinion in a thread WILL NOT get the thread pulled.

That said, do people understand what jokes are? Uh, not supposed to be accurate depiction. That's what makes them funny, as George Carlin said, it's the "exaggeration" that makes a joke.

Are all Polish people stupid? NO
    Are all Irish drunks? NO
    Are all gays cross-dressers? NO
Are all Jewish people cheap? NO

It's the exaggeration. Need I go on?

And FWIW, I too don't believe anyone was saying for anyone to leave, nor was a "queen bee" making a big deal out of anything, rather one was simply pointing out that others are available and people had left but are still "around" and the other simply expressed surprise that the thread was pulled. I don't have a problem with either. C'mon folks, let's not get oversensitive here, OK? Here's a tip: many of the decaf brands are just as good as the regular!

mtnwomanbc, you needn't take blame for something you didn't do, neither should you apologize for something you didn't do, though it certainly is a kind gesture and shows class. I look forward to lively discussions with you in the future. That is, if some joker doesn't try to get them all pulled! :)

Not that it matters, but I think I know now who was the one complaining...

Mountainwomanbc.....I'm sorry that this thing has taken on a life of it's own. I'll accept your apology if you will accept mine. Lets shake hands, or even hug, maybe, and make up. Dottie

Oh Puleeeze, Toni...Ont Gal was hinting at an invite, just like Wildchild said. Geeze!

Has anyone ever wondered if Tamara, or whomever the moderator is, is actually one of the regular posters here, or a "lurker"? I have - perhaps she is one of the KT folks that we know by another name. It just seems too weird how many posts get pulled so quickly. Maybe there isn't a tattler here, but simply that one of the "powers that be" is, in fact, here.

Just a thought - I know nothing about it, but have, as I said, just wondered at the sometimes surprising post-pulling.

    Suzieque

Don't even worry about it MWBC. The joke was funny to some and not to others. But that's the way it is with most jokes. Your point was valid. I doubt if the joke was pulled because of you. I'm sure it was because of the content. There will always be forum police, so we just have to keep posting our opinions and let the cards fall as they may.

I only hope that anyone who has ever tattled is reading and recognizes themselves for the sad, desperate, self-esteem lacking, ineffectual, low-functioning people they are.

LOL! You could also add seriously repressed, trembling with insecurity, acutely self righteous, obsessively controlling, intolerant and unbalanced.

MTM, you have nothing to apologize for. You had an opinion, and you expressed it. Good for you! Disagreement is healthy, and the confidence to express it reflects your own security. Your post didn't get the thread pulled. Someone had to have reported it.

People like this don't openly post their disagreement because they lack the self confidence to openly express themselves. Rather, they cower in the shadows and disagree silently by reporting it.

Too many people around here are afraid to speak their minds in case they get jumped on. I applaud you for having the courage to openly disagree. And that is why I KNOW you weren't the one who got this thread pulled.

I've always been surprised and saddened at how fast threads get pulled here. I mentioned it to my son who is a mod on a gaming site and he said that's because one of the KT members most likely has keys too the kingdom.

I guess I am so caught up in my own problems that I missed the whole thing. If I don't like a joke, I usually just ignore it. I found out it doesn't do any good to comment, but that is just me.
    Clare

I guess I missed it also. Jokes don't offend me. It's all in fun.

Here's a thought - let's just stop talking about this and move on! Have a good day!

    Barb - great idea.

PLEASE NO ONE POST TO THIS THREAD ANY MORE AND LET IT DIE.

Well, I got banned from "the other place" because they were talking about the ones here and I posted about it...so, they banned me from going there...not that I care. I don't have time to go to more than one forum anyway...it "does" take a lot of time.

Isn't one of the freedoms which we've championed the freedom of thought?

Is it the speaking of it which troubles us?

If we require that, unless everyone thinks very similarly, we're going to get all bent out of shape ...

... what hope is there of ever entering into any real dialogue between/among various very diverse ways of thinking and living that inhabit our world?

And, if we don't/can't talk ... isn't there a good possibility that, eventually ...

    ... we'll fight?
