How to fold a T-shirt in 2 seconds flat!

Check this out! It is the coolest and fastest way to fold shirts. It took me a few tries to get the hang of it. Once I did then it goes so quickly. I found if you do it on the side farthest from you, and then the part you pinch (which ends up inside the first fold) and the pull on it to straighten as you give it a quick shake, everything falls into place. It took me a bit to get it down. All I can say is practice. Once you have it down it takes 2 seconds to fold all of your shirts.

I think this is just the coolest thing ever! It cuts down on laundry time in my household ;)

nice videos, but who folds T-shirts ?

In the time it takes to lay the shirt flat, I could hang mine on a plastic hanger.

I hear what you're saying, and appreciate the replies. I'm no kind of expert, but I'm quite sure this was the wood and not the substrate. They removed the first floor, then cleaned and re-floated the slab and tested it - it was perfect. Coming out of the box, many boards were significantly bowed and some were set aside. If the installer was at fault at all, it was in that they laid so much of the floor before I saw it and halted the job. If one didn't know that the floor was supposed to be flat and seamless, they might have accepted this job. It is only because I'd had the same floor that I knew it wasn't right, I think many customers would have accepted it. Something must have gone wrong for that wood between the time it left Lauzon and arrived in my home, perhaps it was stored incorrectly during the summer? The extra wood from the first job that has been in my attic for three years is also crowned, I'll make sure to store extra boards from this job in a closet or something. The new floor is almost done, it is the wider Sapele boards with the small bevel. I changed the style to protect myself from seeing any errors this time...I just don't want to know, and have to get back in my house. I may really miss the square edge, but the wood is gorgeous and the longer boards are good for my large rooms. I'm so grateful for these forums, I've been on several during the last couple months and really appreciate how many experienced and thoughtful people take the time to post and help others.

Knits like t-shirts are hard to sew without stablizers. Get yourself some tear away stablizer. It will hold the neckline stable to sew it. It makes it so it won't stretch out of shape. Cut your neckline and iron on a stablizer strip so it's on each side of your stitching line--about an inch strip will do. Take your neck band and sew it together. If you are making it much larger you will have to use new banding material or it won't fit around the opening without stretching it out of shape. If you can't find the right color use a contrasting one. OR-- you can use the existing one like bias tape so it won't matter if it's stretched. Put the seam at center back on the wrong side and pin or baste, then sew on the band. Tear away the stablizer. Turn it to the right side and under 1/4 inch and baste by hand on the right side over the stitching of the side of the band already sewn. Then machine sew it.

I'm with you, Kathsgardn. When we were at the Grand Canyon this spring we bought tee shirts that I had put away and forgotten--I have to wear sleeveless, cooler shirts in the summer because I feel the heat more intensely than most. As it cooled down yesterday I pulled it out and was pleased to notice it was a nice weight. And I remember being quite pleased with the price too--quite a bit less than I expected to pay! Yes, these thin, ridiculous shirts have been foisted upon us by greedy manufacturers who call it "style." I would be willing to pay more for a heavier shirt, but they don't seem to exist.

When I worked for the school district we used to buy rags from Goodwill for the repair shop. T-shirts and towels were preferred but sometimes if not specified they'd give us all sorts of clothes. All the secretaries would come running and go through the rag bags and grab clothes. You'd be surprised what they'd put in there. Perfectly good clothes - often like new and possibly new. But I also have one more idea. Check with your local school's auto shop. Well, any of the shop classes. Wood shop would use them too, most likely. Often use rags for staining wood and as tack cloths for prep work. They may well want them for rags. Help out the schools too. Even electronic repair shops, computer repair shops and the like would likely need them. When I had my shop we always washed down the computers before returning them. Would have really appreciated a bunch of t-shirts rather than using paper towels all the time. Otherwise, I like the mechanic idea too. But I'm sure Goodwill would take them. Possibly Salvation Army. Frankly, don't count out the local Community Action programs. Maybe you don't think they're very good, but if a poor hard-working parent can't afford any clothes for their kids, what you might think is bad could be a joy for them. Don't be embarrassed to ask. I'm sure you'll advise them up-front as to condition and if they say no thank you, that's fine, but you wanted to offer, just in case. Another thought - any small engine repair shops? Hardware store or something? Is there a neighbor who does shadetree mechanic repairs or the like? Your local city or county probably has a maintenance shop for repairing trucks and vehicles who would probably want them too. Save a few taxpayer dollars that way too. No matter what or where they go, it's a nice time of year to think of a donation of any type to any worthwhile place.

As far as hanging on a plastic hanger, that is great if you have the closet space for them. But I don't... It is crammed full of other clothing. T-shirts go into a drawer in my house.

My teen DD devised a method which takes her about 3 seconds, and the shirts come out nice and smooth. So I just let her do it. ;-)

I'm with Regus as far as hanging up the tee shirts. Otherwise they would pilfer through the pile, to get the shirt they wanted, leaving the rest in a mess. I try to hang everything, but all family members have been blessed with large closets.

It looks like a quick way to fold. Just when you picked them up, or searched through the pile, it looks like you would disturb (wrinkle) the one sleeve.

Thanks for the slowed down instructions. I had seen this on TV once and it was so fast I missed what they were doing. I'm not sure I'll be able to do this with my arthritis, but I sure will give it a try. DH's work t-shirts are folded. Having to take them off of a hanger would be too much trouble for him. LOL He likes them folded in a drawer right above where his work jeans are folded.

regus, my DH does want his T-shirts on hangers, as that saves him time putting them on. I do prefer hanging them as I take them out of the dryer, which is why I let DD do the folding of the kids' T-shirts. The kids don't care whether they're on hangers or folded. She wants hers folded a certain way, she's perfected a way to do them quickly, so I let her do that job.

The T-shirts get thrown into a basket, then carried to the closet, and placed on hangers at that time.

What about long sleeve t-shirts? I can do this 2-second technique, but I end up with one sleeve partly folded over the front. Is there a video or something showing how to do maybe a 3-second long sleeve t-shirt folding method?
