Duet Spin Cycle Noise
Comments (9)I had a similar noise issue with my Maytag washer and even the dryer. I did a lot of looking online for information about what caused it. I had a repair tech come on and make sure everything was level and set correctly and the noise still persisted. I was just about ready to get rid of the washer/dryer set until I found these cool little pads that fit under each of the feet. They are called Silent Feet and the only place I could find to buy them was at the company's web site: www.VibrationSolution.com They worked well and significantly reduced the noise from both the washer and dryer. I would strongly recommend them for anyone who is tired of the helicopter sounds coming from their laundry room. Comments (6)I answered this on another poster's comments. We had a similar issue with our Duet a year or two ago. It was older than your set. My husband replaced the electronic shut-off valve/leak sensor. It wasn't the washer - it was the valve! Only happened on heavy-duty loads where I needed a fast spin....See MoreWhirlpool Thin Twin Won't stop spinning!!
Comments (4)It's not the final spin that it won't advance, it's the rinse cycle spin, there's a final spin after that and it stops normally once it's been manually advanced to the final spin cycle and allowed to run. The problem only happens during the regular cycle. All other cycles run just fine. So at the moment the washing machine is still 90% usable, I just have to pay attention to it and manually advance the timer when I think it's spun enough. Not a huge annoyance but still removes some of the convenience from the washing machine, also dangerous if I one day forget to advance it and it just keeps spinning until it burns out. At least I can narrow it down before I call a tech in to fix so he can have the parts on hand. I'm going to open the panel tonight and make sure all the timer wiring is in place and check that the timer knob and spindle aren't catching on anything....See MoreWhirlpool washer will not spin/rinse
Comments (17)The entire outer cabinet comes off (with the rear panel remaining standing in place). 1) Pull the machine forward from the wall a little so there's room for the console to swing back in Step 3. Unplug the power cord. 2) Remove the two screws at the front lower corners of the control console. 3) Pull the console slightly forward, then swing it upwards and back. It's hinged at the upper rear corners and should stay up ... although sometimes the plastic hinges break so be careful of that. 4) Disconnect the lid switch harness where it plugs into the top under the console. 5) Use a large flat screwdriver to remove the two (usually gold colored) spring clips that anchor the top to the rear panel. 6) Open the lid, grasp at the front of the loading port and swing the cabinet forward and off the base. The cabinet is a bit flimsy/flexible when not anchored to the base. 7) Set the cabinet aside so you can get under it to access the lid switch. Reverse all that to reassemble. Place the lower front edge of the cabinet under the front lip of the base (may need to give a slight kick with your knee) and set it down into place. There are two tabs at the rear corners of the base that fit into slots in the edge of the cabinet to help stabilize the sides. Sometimes it's a bit tricky to get that aligned. Don't forget to connect the lid switch harness plug....See Moredakota01
