Do I need a throw at end of bed that is closer to drape color to tie items together better?

threedgrad, That's a REALLY nice duvet....what a good buy!

I have white bedding, but the only picture I have right now is this one. What I like most about sticking with the white is you can add color everywhere else and it works! I'm decorating challenged that's why I like to come here for ideas.

I think varying shades of white will look lovely. Mixing tones can be quite elegant, and is much better than trying to match everything.

If you want to repeat the black from the drapes, would you consider just adding touches via trim rather than a full black bedskirt? I can envision using wide black grossgrain for a border or narrower grossgrain bows to tie up the overlay or adding black fabric covered buttons mimicking those on the drapes to the bedskirt. If you decide to add black trim, do so in a removable way so that you can change whenever you want.

I love mixing cream, white and black together. Maybe you could throw in some taupe-y-ish color with a pillow or even a throw on the bed. I think that mix is just gorgeous and rich.

The walls are white which is fine with me. The art in the room consist of pencil drawings from my school days and a couple of other black and white art.

I am returning some other items I bought so this new item is basically free.

I am very appreciative of anyone who has helped me out with prayers, warm wishes or a donation which I never asked for. The good souls on this web site came up with the idea themselves. God will bless them for their kindness and charity. I have been trying to give back kindnesses to people where I can. The other day I gave a customer a ride to her car after closing at Dillards because she was afraid to walk by herself all away around the mall. White walls are perfect for a tone on tone look, Eileen.

Depending on which direction you want to go -- tailored or soft, if you decide on the overlay bedskirt, I might look for a sheer overlay in a similar embroidery to the beautiful duvet, for the bedskirt and add it also to the bottom portion of your drapes. You could probably find some lovely sheer curtains @ a resale shop which could be adapted. If your preferred look is more tailored, then the black trim details on the skirt.

I don't know what is the difference between a duvet and a duvet cover. Yikes. Okay, I always use quilts on my beds.

The picture above looks like a duvet COVER. Am I right? Isn't a duvet the fluffy down like bedding and we put it inside the duvet cover?

I don't go to big department stores anymore (I hate malls) but I do shop from them online. Even online I can't tell the difference between a cover or a pillow/duvet. help. :)

The way I get it...a Duvet is a cover for a comforter. It's a *Duvet Cover* , but just referred to as a *Duvet* for short. That's just my take on it.

I have the same duvet and all the rest of the stuff including the blue and white stripe sheets. I used BM Linen White on the walls and off white silk panels on an arch window. I have a cashmere lt. blue throw over the bed. I'm also thinking of using my blue/white plate collection to make a headboard.

A duvet is the down unit that fits inside a duvet cover. The cover can be anything, a cotton cover, silk, velvet or whatever. The different between a comforter and a duvet is usually a duvet is silk or Down filled and is a solid white unit. You use the duvet covet to protect the down/silk and use any design that you want. To confuse this further, nothing prevents you from putting a duvet cover over your comforter to change the look.

What a great deal! We don't have a Dillards, but if we did, I'd be racing out to find the same duvet even though we're watching our budget because of our remodel and I need another duvet like I need another hold in my head! I just can't pass up bargains though. Keep telling my husband that I'm really "saving" us money, by not paying full price!

My daughter has an antique iron bed that was refinished in ivory with a brown glaze, so it's definitely off-white. Her sheets, quilt, and dust ruffle are bright white, while her duvet is an ivory/cornflower blue/red floral print. Her walls are a dark cream color.

I posted pics here when I was trying to decide if I needed to go with ivory sheets to coordinate with the bed and duvet and received advice that the white and ivory would work together well - which turned out to be true. They really complement each other nicely.

Thanks awm03. I had hung onto that twin bed for years. I think I had to special order it years ago but now some other little girl will have it along with all the bedding and the vanity to make her room special.
I only bought this duvet cover now because it was a sale that was only on for a few days, the extra 50% off of the already 75% off so I really got it for 85% off. Also many times the Dillards near me sends the 75% off to the discount center.
