Ok...say I want Lord Anson sweet peas. What I would first do, is post a Want thread with Lord Anson in the subject of posting line....and let it ride. If I didn't get any replies, then I would do a search of members lists, and see if someone might have it. I'd then check their want list, and send them an email requesting a trade, offering one or some of their 'wants, or else ask that they check my list. I've gotten 2 cold emails this week, and have not had the time to check them out really well....too many plant trades in different stages this week and early next week. I think both might be for plants...where they saw me 'offering' them up on someone else's thread. I'll check them out better when I get a little more caught up and maybe trade, asking that they mail first. They may turn out to be some really great trades.... I have had so many wonderful trades on GW compared to the not-so-wonderful. I have found that most of the time, delayed trades are due to life's little unforseen circumstances which is totally understandable. Especially if the other trader is willing to at least email you a status. I do have one trade this year that I feel probably won't ever close and if it does, I worry about the seed. I sent my seeds immediately, while the other person hasn't sent them for a trade agreed upon 1.5 months ago. This person has replied to me a couple of times. One time she wrote: "Do you mind if they get squashed in an envelope. That way I can save on some postage and send it off from my hous vs. going to the post office.". Another time she wrote: "Instead of putting the blue mistflower seeds in a plastic baggie, I'm going to lay them flat in between a paper towel and mail it to you." I asked her if she was going to protect them with bubble wrap. She replied 'I can do that.'. :)

In honor of the last week of daylight savings and my last week of being able to walk outdoors after work, I walked about 4 miles in 40 degree drizzle tonight. Since I've always been a fan of drizzly, raw fall dusks, it felt great. After the walk I did a stretching routine followed by a free weight session. This will be the winter of getting back into shape. So, will it or will it not frost tonight? The weather isn't calling for it but it's 39 F now. Maybe I'll toss on some shoes and go out and move a few pots into the screen porch or garage. I don't want to lose the brugs or my red abyssinian banana. At this point I'm probably torturing the poor plants by leaving them out but I still say they prefer it to being tortured in the house...lol. Today I went to Lowe's and bought a bag of potting soil so I can repot some of them. Think all the potential bugs are dead yet? I'm waiting for groceries to be delivered. The two hour window they gave me is 7-9. A little while ago I decided to start dinner with something I had rather than wait so we don't have to potentially eat at 9:30. Tomorrow night is the kick off of our physical inventory at work so I won't be home til late because we get all the reports set up to print then go out to dinner. I call it my annual date night since it's usually me and a few men...lol...perhaps I need to get out more. Eden I have a weather station. It's a LaCrosse and was fairly expensive. I think I got it at Gardener's Supply last year. The remote unit is in the kitchen. The temp and wind sensors are out in the reclamation area on a pole. While reading the instructions we realized the outdoor sensors had to be protected from rain so we put a plywood platform on top of the pole and a birdhouse on top of that. It's fun to have. Warm baked goods out of the oven...YUM. Time for dinner. Sue

Thanks for the link; I'll check it out later. How are the free e-journals progressing? Are the editorial standards as vigorous as for the top-flight print journals? Springer also offers a sort of "best of..." service, in my case I chose Crop Science, articles garnered from an array of their journals. Unfortunately, the notification is monthly and fewer than a dozen articles are posted to me with each email. I had better response from BioMedNet and other similar sites. At one point I received email notifications of a half dozen journals from Springer and could access abstracts. Too often abstracts were not available so I could only access the first line or two of the papers at best. Not very useful or enlightening.
