Does steam wrinkle release really save energy?

I'm building a net zero energy home and I'm looking at installing a LG or Whirlpool steam dryer.

My question is how much energy does the machine use to remove wrinkles from one or two garments? I'm assuming that it takes more energy to create steam, turn a drum and generate some heat to the dryer than it does to activate a 1,000W element in a basic iron for a few minutes. Does anyone know the energy savings of using an iron and if it's significant? Or perhaps removing wrinkles with steam is more efficient? That would be great news, of course.
