The link posted (twice) in that thread gives clear proof that what the OP has claimed is not true. The reviews at that website are overwhelmingly positive.

Home Depot - 81% would buy again (103 reviews).
Best Buy - 75% would buy again (40 reviews).
Sears - 68% would recommend to a friend (35 written reviews).
Lowes - 31% would recommend to a friend (16 reviews).

Sound like an OK machine, but not great. Majority of negative reviews did not think the clothes were clean enough and that they were too twisted/wrinkled.

Exactly mara's point. It's so weird, to me, that someone would be so passionate about dissing something based on made-up opinions. It didn't seem this machine was super amazing but it won't eat all your clothes for lunch. Yikes.

Hi John I have the MVWB750WQ and love it. I was tempted to buy a front loader but after reading complaints about mold, etc plus I am not a young chicken so bending over to do laundry was not my cup of tea and spending a couple of hundred dollars for a pedestal was a no no. Anyways I bought mine from Home Depot at a great price and 4 year warranty in November 2009. Washing was a learning experience. I know now to put the clothes around the impeller in small piles and I use HE powder detergent. Tried the liquid detergent but did not like the residue it left in my tub. Regarding the soak cycle yes I do have it along with extra rinse, etc. Just never needed to use it. Wish you luck on your decision.

And you can let it continue until it's through, or you can Pause the washer and let laundry soak longer. * I thought in the owners manual it said it does, but it will drain and stop after the soak cycle runs. Yes, it does, when the Soak cycle finishes. * I actually wash my work jeans and T shirts on sanitary cycle in my HE3T with soak cycle. The Bravos 850 also has a sanitary cycle. * How hot does the sanitary cycle her in yours, anyone know? I've never taken its temp, but it gets REALLY hot. I think the manual tells how hot it gets. * Its nice of you to remember me Mara, Im not on here much anymore, been working a pile of mandatory overtime all summer long :( but now I can pay cash for the new set when decide on what to get. Me too, gates -- working longer hours. Glad to know you're getting overtime! The increased pay sure does help. It is SO NICE to be able to pay cash for appliances and other big purchases. * One more question..what exactly is the "deep rinse"? DOes it fill more than the wash cycle or just not the spray rinse that is on the bravos. I rarely use the spray rinse, simply because I must use the deep rinse in order to use fabric softener or vinegar (or both). I'm assuming it does use more water than the spray rinse. My dd has used the spray rinse when she's washed her clothes (usually on the Quick Wash, when she's in a hurry for a particular outfit). Her clothes came out fine. I hope this helps! And I hope you get a break from so many hours soon -- after you've paid cash for the new set, of course. ;)

Per the info on Maytag's site, the "10-Year Limited Parts Warranty on Washer Motor And Basket" applies only to Maxima series models MHW6000X, MHW7000X, and MHW9000Y. Maxima units are frontloaders. This info is referenced on the details of Bravos models ... one wonders why if it does not pertain to them. High spin speed contributes to wrinkling, but has no effect on tangling. If the clothes are tangled, they get that way during the wash and/or rinse periods when they're tumbling and moving over and around each other. Clothes are simply pressed against the basket during spin, they do not move in relation to each other so how could the rotational spin speed contribute to tangling?

Perhaps that is why we haven't run into any problems. I watched videos on how to use the HE TLs and downloaded the user guide onto my phone before even buying the machine. 45 minute drive home, so plenty of time to read though it and the installation guide before we ever even unloaded it. I think reading the reviews and really paying attention to the negatives was key as well - we knew what not to do or what to figure out the proper way to do. Piling clothes in loose heaps with nothing in the middle seemed to be key. Like I say, we've done quite the variety of loads and haven't had a single problem. And I don't necessarily sort. Room in the load and I have one dirty towel - throw it in, too! Jeans with undies and dress shirt - the more the merrier! I'm going to load it properly, use the correct amount of detergent, set the machine right, and then I am not going to mess with it again until the load is done. So far, this machine is letting me do that just fine. (Doing a soak or pre-rinse is excluded - I don't mind that type of 2-step process.)

Well, from personal experience with a different Bravos model, I did find that it frayed the ends of the towels and was hard on sheets.

I think I will comment here instead of original post. As a service technician; I know the new high efficiency top load washers can effectively wash & rinse laundry without damage just as any other. However,

any top or front load washer user will benefit from these simple tips.

*make sure it is installed correctly according to the manual.

*use a good high efficiency detergent in the right amount

*load correctly and don't overload. Use a laundry bag for tiny items...baby socks, shoelaces, thongs etc. Check pockets for coins, jewelry, keys, golf tee's, crayons, chewing gum, lighters, candy, mints, condoms, screws etc. etc.

*select the appropriate cycle.
Since the machine won't use nearly as much water as a regular top load washer, don't wash clothes laden with mud, grass clippings, mulch, manure etc. This stuff should be brushed, rinsed or shaken off first as it should with any machine, but you'd be surprised.

Be an informed owner, read the manuals, use with common sense / care and the washer will serve you well.

Well said, dixie. I own the Bravos 850 and use it according to the manual. I've learned not to overload it with clothing, use the bulky or handwash cycles to get more water in the loads, and I always prepare the clothing properly before loading the machine. This means small items, camis, etc. go in mesh bags, drawstrings get tied, and pockets are empty.

I do think the sheets and towels cycles don't have enough water in the tub and I can see how items could get frayed when they rub against the other fabrics. I have found that the bulky cycle works for nearly all my loads. No fraying yet in the year I've owned the machine.
