Kaseys baby Lakota needs prayers agian............

Without yet a proper diagonse...they think he has "failure to thrive syndrome" but actually they are looking for more problems...he has a very high palette (the roof of his mouth) and where we all have the creases in our hands he has none...I have always thought he had downs...but I think they are ruling that out....She take him to therpy a couple times a week, upping his calorie intake...and various other things right now.....I know it is not because they don't have food for him...because they do...I know he gets the attention he needs because he is such a happy outgoing baby...but way behind on development and size...they are going to continue to run tests on him til they find out what for sure is his problem...plz say prayers for Lakota......Stacy aka Gramma Stacy

I will and thanks. As I said at least they are getting him therapy and such...which I was always afraid they wouldn't as they had not mentioned to me anything...but from seeing him I knew something was not right......He is such a happy happy boy but so small so so far behind....but wow do the other kids love on him and give him attention it is all about Lakota...which he needs!

My husband was in michigan this week and that was one of the flights he thought about taking on thursday night. He flies a lot and it just hit close to home. Clarence is not far from where we live. We are a little more out in the country. Big sigh of relief. When the news came on at 10pm they announced at the end of the broadcast that a plane had crashed by the airport, but they didn't know anything yet. By the time the 11pm news came on, it was not until after the weather that their news crews made it to the neighborhood and they announced it was a commercial plane. WIVB broadcast without commercial break until I went to bed at 2am. When my husband called to say he was alright i was so grateful. (wipes tears and sniffles) Fran, Could i have the blanket flower, please? BTW, DS#3 watered my keyboard once, its still a little iffy. We set it in from of the blower on the woodstove for a week. Just FYI those of you sowing in the keys LOL! Thank all of you for the prayers. Families here are esp. close knit and things like this are difficult for anyone. Praying for your FIL, too Nichol. The only life those kids have ever known is now totally different. It will be an adjustment for them. It won't be long before they sense the calm around them and see a big difference in their mommy. All you can do Stacy is encourage her that she is doing the right thing and support her...the rest is up to her. God Bless her for taking this first step. Remind her how much strength that took.

Watch for personality changes, even very temporary ones. Most will show signs if they are using meth, and may be 'tweaking' right in front of you. It may not last long. Long time results may cause the hair and teeth to fall out. If she is using then she will need funds to buy, so watch anything that could bring her quick cash. If she wants to be around her friends, beware. They may help her feed her habit. A man who knows he is going to jail when caught has little to lose, so he may not mind commiting another crime. You may be able to get a protective order, but keep in mind that a PO is only a piece of paper and a bullet will go right through it. Where it helps is if he is arrested then a violation of the PO is an additional crime and he might be jailed more quickly. I hope Lee doesn't have friends that read KT, because you not only announced where she was, but announced to him that Tanner had lied to him. Remember, this is a public forum and anyone can read it. She may not remember how to function in a normal family situation any longer, so don't let her destroy yours. Call every agency you can and try to get her some help. You can't do it yourself. Just so you know, I have not experienced this myself but have worked in a field where I dealt with users, and my husband is still connected with two programs. Even with excellent programs, and a failure meaning certain jail time, not all addicts will be able to stay clean. In closing, please remember that no matter how good your children are, you can't take all the credit, and no matter how bad they are, you can't take all the blame. They have freedom to choose for themselves. Sometimes they make bad choices too often that leads them into addiction and they no longer can make a choice. Get her some help at the earliest possible time, and don't beat yourself up. She is an adult, just not a responsible one.

My heart goes out to you in your moments of despair which is totally understandable when you look around and see so many with their children on the right path. Know that you're not alone, go to Al-Anon please. Addicts are just people who can't stop doing what they do. We can relate to them if we think of giving up foods we love or cigarettes or coffee etc. It's not easy and it's not because we're weak, it's because the yearning is ruling our brain. I will pray that your Kasey can find the strength to realize that she's on the road to losing more than just her children. In the meantime you need to surrender to God. Know that He is on your side. Do what you can to make yourself accept and realize you had no part in her addiction, it was just a very bad choice that has it's grip on her. Way down inside her, she yearns to stop but the drugs rule. Say your prayers and then just let it be. You're a good woman and she knows it. She loves you but the drugs are making her love them over others. In time I feel she'll recover. God bless you and your husband.

Thanks Ms Glenda...also my concern is I am wondering about the "expermantial" sp. drug they used to treat his RSV when is was in the hospital for it....I know that when my friends baby had RSV 18 years ago the drugs they gave her slowed her weight/height way down but nothing in her development....Stacy

Stacy, I'm sure the doctors have ruled this out, but I'll mention it anyway, just in case. When my grandson was a baby, he was diagnosed as "failure to thrive" and many tests were done. Turns out he had a milk allergy! Was finally put on soy milk and problems soon were corrected. I will certainly remember little Lakota in my prayers! Bettye/AZ

Something else to check, which is so often overlooked, is celiac disease. Took 18 months before they finally figured out what was wrong when my son was an infant. After two hospitilizations and much anxiety, they diagnosed him. That was more than 30 years ago. They still only seem to look for it as a last resort. But the diagnosis is so much easier and faster today. Good luck and blessings for all of you.

he might be like a pal's baby and have to go soy formula, and now he's older, goat's milk, if it's a digestion thing.. good thoughts and tons of prayers....

I have a nephew who was born with some minor birth defects. Turned out he was autistic. My siser got him lots of theraspy. As a kid he was a Holy Terror. Wouldn't look you in the eye and he wrecked anything he touched. He came to my house when he was four and took the screens out of my upstasirs windows. But luckily he has grown up and his behaviour has totally turned around. In fact, he's a sophmore in college. saying prayers for Lakota.

Stacy-I have been out of touch here for a while and am not sure what is going on with Lakota but I will certainly keep him in my prayers.How old is he now? Something you might suggest the doctors check if thay haven't already,a possible Biotion or Biotinaise defficency.Our little Rowdy has that and has to take a supplement every day.If it isn't treated it can lead to many permanent dissorders and some of the symptoms you mention are related to the defficency.Simple blood test to diagnose and simple to treat with the Biotin supplement.Rowdy's was related to the bowel surgery he had at birth but there are other reasons for it to occur.The milk allergy is also a very real possibility.Rowdy had that too,threw up all the time and wasn't gaining.We first atributed it to his earlier problems but when we changed him to a soy formula you can't believe the difference.The doctor didn't recommend the formula change,by the way.We did it on our own.Sometimes mother's(and in this case grannie's)intuition is better than the doctors! "Charge Syndrome" mimics many of the Down Syndrome features. It also mentions palm creases.

Stacy, I hope they determine what is going on. I remember a while back you showing photos of all Kasey's beautiful kids and commenting on how different Lakota looked from his siblings. Maybe you were on to something way back then but didn't know it. Regardless, he is a handsome young boy and I wish the very best outcome for him and the family.
