Any Good, Spicy Recipes for Baked Goulash?

Would be so grateful for a tried and true recipe - for goulash baked in the oven, not in a slow cooker. Either stew beef or browned ground round would be great.

I watched Paula Deen make a goulash with her son Bobby,not too long ago and it sounded sooooooo good. It's not baked in the oven, but in the dutch oven on stove top, with ground beef.

When I make goulash at work they say it never tastes the same twice. I use hamburger and macaroni and tomatoes and tomato soup and onions. Then for a little bit of a zing if I have spagetti sauce open I will add that. Tomato juice if it is still to dry. Now for the spicey. A little tabasco sauce some Heinz 57 and chili powder. Maybe some cumin and oregano. Few red pepper flakes. Sometimes in between there I add lawry seasoning salt and garlic powder. SOrry I dont have any measurements I just keep adding until I think I have it right and then bake it. Dont overcook your noodles when you cook them first or you will have kind of a mush.

Add sugar, salt, cloves, cinnamon, flour, baking soda, and nuts, mixing to blend. Pour 1/4 of the batter in 2 greased 7 1/2 x 3 1/2" bread pans. Beat cream cheese, sugar and flour together. Add egg and mix to blend. Stir in orange peel. Carefully spread cream cheese filling mixture over batter in the pans. Cover the cream cheese filling with the remaining batter. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour or until bread tests done. Cool 10 minutes in pans before turning out on a rack to cool. Store in the refrigerator. I would make the following changes: Brown the meat, add tom paste, at east one small can and let that brown, and add some more salt. And use red peppers, with just a tiny bit of the green ones. And it does need more L&P, at least a tablespoon. basically, it is a good recipe, but it needs some more stuff.

Barb: Pizzelles and Biscotti are always a big hit here. In fact I caught H~~~ , because I didn't have any made for Thanksgiving. And they are only plain with Anise. ************************************** I sent these to my Niece when she was in Bagdad. Packed Biscotti in one airtight container and Pizzelles in another. Don't pack them both in one container. She distributed them to the Marines, who she worked with. They were a hit with them. Asked when more were coming. ******************************** This sounds like a a lot but are very easy. (10 min. Prep) ******************************** Good , Light, Crispy, Delicious, Mouth Watering, To kill for, Lou's Pizzelles 3-X large eggs 1/2 cup (1 stick ) of melted butter ( not hot ) 3 tablespoons of oil 1 cup of Sugar + 3 Tablespoons 4 Teasps. of Anise Extract or 1 Teasp. Anise Oil or Try a little less first and adjust to taste I use McCormickÃ¢ÂÂs Anise Extract or Anise Oil from FanteÃ¢ÂÂs of Phila. 1 3/4 cups of flour , add more to thicken 4 level, teaspoons of Baking Powder Mix well, All the ingredients, except the Flour & Baking powder Then add them and mix well. If you think the dough is too soft add a little more flour. I add until the batter peaks , ( a little stiff ) while mixing , and mix with a Tablespoon, to make a soft dough. I use a Mellon Scoop, with a trigger release, to measure the dough. ( it holds one teaspoon ) When baking the Pizzelles pile them far away from where you are baking. Because they are soooo Gooood you will be eating them as you go. This will make about 40 Pizzelles, unless didn't listen and piled them too close. Then you will have about 3 left and gained 2 lb. Save one for me ************************************* LouÃ¢ÂÂs Biscotti - Basic Anise Flavored Pizzelle Dough can be used to make Biscotti. Just add more flour to make a soft Dough. Divide in two and roll out 2 Logs about 14 inches long. Place them on an oiled cookie tin, separated, to allow for them to grow. Flatten the 2 logs, leaving the center higher. Bake in a Pre heated , 325 Degree oven, 25 to 30 minutes or, Until a golden color on top. While still hot Remove to a cutting board, make a cut, diagonal across; in the center, to remove them from the pan easier. Continue cutting diagonally the size of a Nickel and separate them. When cooled , eat them or place in a Tight container. Whichever comes first !!! There are many variations for flavors and texture. Almond flavors can be substituted. Almonds can be added to the dough. Raisins can also be added. Or they can be put back into the oven and toasted. Ciou !

I finally made it the way the original recipe was written at eatingwell.com. I finally found the canned chipotle peppers. Not sure why but I had looked several times in the grocery store (on separate visits) in the section for the jar of red peppers. Not sure why I didn't look closer to the cans of tomato sauce but in any event, thanks to breezyb, I finally looked for them in the right spot, found them and tried this. It was very good the way the recipe is written, I agree. But I also think the real reason it is so good is the chipotle/mayonaise mixture. MMMMM is that good. I'm going to use that again. I may never go back to using plain Hellman's mayonaise again. --Alice

Yes, thanks very much! Printed both Bobby Dean's and bengardening's -- your recipe sounds like many of mine, a little of this and some of that. They're the best kind of recipes. Love it!

BobbyÃ¯Â¿Â½s Favorite Goulash

1/2 - tablespoon Paula DeenÃ¯Â¿Â½s House Seasoning
3 - tablespoon soy sauce
3 - bay leaves
2 - tablespoon Italian seasoning
2 - (15-ounce) cans diced tomatoes
2- (15-ounce) cans tomato sauce
3 - cups water
3 - cloves garlic, chopped
2 - large onion, chopped
2 lb - lean ground beef
1 - teaspoon Paula DeenÃ¯Â¿Â½s Seasoned Salt
2 - cups elbow macaroni, uncooked
1 - cup frozen mixed veggies or frozen corn
(If using canned, drain first)

In a Dutch oven or large pot, saute the ground beef over medium-high heat until no pink remains. Break up the meat while sauteing. Spoon off any grease. Add the onions and garlic to the pot and saute until they are tender, about 5 minutes. Add 3 cups water, along with the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, bay leaves, soy sauce, House Seasoning, and seasoned salt. Stir well. If adding mixed veggies or corn add them now.

Place a lid on the pot and allow this to cook for 15 to 20 minutes. Add the elbow macaroni, stir well, return the lid to the pot, and simmer for about 15 - 20 minutes. Turn off the heat, remove the bay leaves, and allow the mixture to sit about 15 minutes more before serving. Serve with garlic bread and a salad.

Paula's House Seasoning:

1 - cup salt
1/4 - cup black pepper
1/4 - cup garlic powder

Mix ingredients together and store in an airtight
container for up to 6 months.

Basically what is it I've heard the word all my life but dont know if I've ever eaten it or knew I ate it.
Is it just something you throw together with a hamburger base??

yes all it is browned hamburger and the pasta I use macaroni cooked first. then toss all together with the rest of whatever you want to put in it
