Have you checked your front door, that's where I had mine after a similar occasion LOL. Yes, I went to the front door, opened it to retrieve my belongings and put the keys in the lock. Otherwise coatpocket. Good luck.

My pockets were the first place I looked. I was sure they'd be there. But no.

Pawle ran outside in the rain with Main Man's cell phone in her mouth. I just happened to see a light flashing in the dark running around in the back door. Did she come when I called her. He!! no. I had to chase her all around the whole acre dark back yard. I wanted to spank her sooooo bad.

Angelaid, I bought a wrist cord for my keys so I have to come in and immediately hang them on the hook by the door when I come in. They are attached to me or the hook at all times. Things get lost in my purse.

Search your purse again. Things have a way of hiding.

Look under the pile of papers by your computer. My GF lost her keys this morning and that is where her BF found them this afternoon.

do you have a coat closet? when my dd was small that's where she had dropped my mother's keys...

If they aren't in the lock of either door, look by the toolbox or the place of whatever gadget you needed to unjam the door.

I lost a single key on a ring once and it was stuck in the sleeve of my coat!

Did you have the keys with you at the front door?

How about in whatever packages you left at the front door. Maybe you tossed the keys into whatever it was, as you came back to the front, to pick them up.

Don't know if anyone suggested already.....

Look in the trash. You might have dropped them in one of the packages, then threw them away along with the bags.

Unless you didn't empty the packages. Wherever they are, look inside them and around them.

Look on the front porch where you dropped the purse and packages.

Did you test the front door lock after opening the door from inside. I'm thinking you still wanted to try it out once more but left the keys in lock.

Look under something. If you have a table or stool in the hall or near where you usually keep them they might have dropped on the floor

Dean lost his MAJOR set of keys...work!!!...the end of June and we still haven't found them!!! We had to get to MN as his mother was dying, so we were trying to get many things taken care of. He is USUALLY the one to be so organized and remembers where he puts things...not this time. We have went through soooo many things, and they have just disappeared!

What happened is that something is wrong with the front door lock and it wouldn't let me unlock it with a key. I thought this might happen because it happened the day before. The back door was locked, too, so I had my keys with me when I went there to open it.

I think I found a dog mess on the floor when I entered the house, and I think I cleaned it up before I took off my coat. (I'm not more certain about finding the mess because it's practically a daily occurance with my elderly dogs.) So I would have dropped the keys into my pocket (the most likely scenario) or onto a surface like the dining table, etc.

I appreciate your suggestions, which inspired me to double- and triple-check many spots. No keys! I did go through the trash (what fun), with no results. Now I'm wondering if one of the cats batted the keys off whatever surface they were on. Tomorrow I'm going to go around with a flashlight and look under furniture. My poor knees! But it'll be worth it if I find my keys.

If you find them (which you most likely will), you might consider buying a key locator system.

You went in through the kitchen, and you say you checked the fridge. Did you check the top of the fridge? The drawers in the kitchen? Do you have a basket of fruit on the table they might have fallen into?

Could a drawer under a counter have been open and the keys fallen into it?

What did you do with the dog doody? Any chance at all that the keys got wound up with the towels used and tossed out? I hope you find them.

Could your coat pocket have a hole in it? The keys could have slipped into the lining. I've had that happen before. Feel the coat all over, they could be caught up in a fold or wrinkle.

I accidently dropped a $10 bill thru the slot at the PO last year, I had it in my hand along with letters to mail. I went nuts for a few minutes looking for it and had to retrace every step I took in there to find it.

Hope you find them, Susan. Not much of a suggestion here, but this happened to me one time.

A friend has a shop where she sells cedar and painted furniture. She asked me to mind the shop one day when her regular help couldn't make it. There is a combination lock on the gate and a key lock on the door. I opened them both and started in and she called me to make sure I got in okay. I was walking towards the back room, where she keeps a tv and fridge, when she called.

A second after I got off the phone, I looked for the keys...knowing I needed to put them somewhere I could find them...before I lost them. No where to be found. The whole day was spent looking for them. I had walked straight through the store...to the back...no where else. I couldn't find them and finally had to call and tell her, appologizing.

Of course I had checked my pockets...multiple, multiple times. I don't carry a purse. Hadn't been back out to the car.

A week or so later, took my clothes to the laundromat. As always, checked the pockets of all jeans for loose change, etc. When I took the clothes out of the washing machine...there was the key. I know it wasn't in my jean's
pocket. I checked a dozen times. I don't wear shirts with pockets.

Weird things happen at my house....I guess the weirdness follows me around. :))

Retrace again. The pet mess-where were the clean up supplies? Look around all those areas-paper towel rack, where was the spray, where are the plastic bags. OK-after that-did you let the dog out back or retrieve your stuff from the front porch. If it was the dog-did you grab a flashlight or leash-wipe off muddy paws? Next-did you run to the bathroom and toss the keys in there trying to rush? or check phone messages-look around the phone. What type of stuff did you bring in? Look in all the areas you put stuff away. Still no keys? Check your receipt-maybe you forgot to look by an item. Were more bags in the car and you had to go back? Check the seats of the car. As you can see-I am an expert at losing things. sigh. What did you do after putting everything away? Could they be not in a coat closet, but in your pants pocket??

My husband once left the keys IN the door and turns out that someone took them then came back and robbed us!!!!Maybe change the locks.

Since you already looked in the lock (you'd be surprised how many times I found keys there in my former part time profession as a pizza delivery guy) you should retrace your steps in detail. When I was single I used to rent a house with friends at the Jersey shore. I usually got up early Monday mornings and drove straight to work in Phila (95 miles +/-). One a.m. I could not find my keys. I retraced my steps. In this case I knew I had them at first since I came in the front door. It was a 'hard night' and I thought 'maybe I dropped thm as I opened the door.'. I moved a chair - there they were!

I'm often known to put the keys in the bags of my packages and I don't find them until I empty the bags.

I lost my glasses, and was going nuts trying to find them.
I finally called on Saint Anthony.
I don't know how much later it was, but, I walked into a room I rarely ever go into, and looked out the window, and placed my hand down on the top of a Lazy-Boy type chair.
When I laid my hand down, my glasses where right there on the top of that chair...under my hand.

I had to have been led there, to lay my hand on that chair like I did. I would not have seen them any other way, nor do I ever put my hand on that chair like that.

It will be interesting to see where you find your keys.

DH lost the remote to his bedroom TV about 6 months ago.Turned the room upside down,never found it.About 4 months ago my DS moved in with us and DH gave him his room.Everything was cleaned out,furniture moved out and DS's furniture move in,still no remote.Last night DS cleaned his room and brought the trash basket into the kitchen to be taken out this morning.DH dumped it into the kitchen trash and guess what was in there! I know that trash has been emptied many times since the remote came up missing.The only thing I can figure out is that it had fallen into the trash can when there wasn't a bag in it then every time it was emptied someone just pulled out the plastic bag and replaced it and never looked in the can.

Did you find them yet? It has been over 24 hours since you updated us.

I do this all the time. I have no advice since I am still looking for three things...a metal grid from Ikea, pruning shears and my pedometer. I also lost my pink GAP gardening hat and found it the other day in the boxwood. I lost it in July. I have NO idea where the other things are. The first two should be in the kitchen but they aren't and the grid is big. A mind is a terrible thing to lose.

I lost my car keys for 5 days and looked everywhere. DH found them in my purse. I know I had checked there many times but for some reason didn't see them. Have someone check all the places you have already looked. Sometimes we are selectively blind and don't see what is in front of us.

I also just found a key in my night stand drawer that I have been looking for since Sept. I know I had looked there at least 3 times but never saw it.

Good luck. I know how it can drive you crazy. I hope you find them.

Still no keys. I followed all your excellent suggestions to no avail. I must be a creative loser.

I even reminded St. Anthony that I was a good (albeit Protestant) girl in convent school when I was ten.

Oh..... I'd be insane by now, Susan. I sure wish I was there to help you look. Just don't let anything get thrown away, no garbage collection until everything is thoroughly searched!

You think that's bad? I woke up and looked for the controller to turn off the bedroom TV looked under the mattress everywear. Now it means getting up out of bed to change the channels etc ouch!!

could you have left the keys in the keyhole...shut the door, then they fell out...outside...and then got kicked around outside...just a thought...I hope you find them soon...nothing is more frustrating (and expensive trying to duplicate a car key these days!)

I'm always losing things. I also EVENTUALLY always find them. Yesterday I couldn't find my house keys. They were in the front door lock. I've lost my car keys several times. Look in the car, on the floor, under the seat. I once lost my credit card,it was later found under the seat of my car. That was after I had called the bank and waited and received a new credit card. My American Express card is currently missing. If I don't find it soon, I'll be calling AmEx.

I found it after tearing the bedroom apart. it was on the bookshelf next to the bed on top of some audio tapes I listen to at night. It is the same width as the tapes.

There was a twilight Zone or Tales of the darkside once that had an episode that when you leave a room these little guys come out and put everything in a different place and have to get it all back right before you come back sometimes they don't make the deadline!!
