Bosch Axxis Washer and Dryer

HELP! My WTL5410UC bosch axxis dryer keeps over heating. Replaced the temp limiter-to no avail. Have more than 5 inches of space behind, and 5+ feet above, and it continues to overheat EVERY time I use the dryer. I have had this dryer for 4 years, and use it on average 3 times a week. I must reset the temperature limiter as it trips on each drying session. Most of the time, the clothes come out steaming, still damp, and the temperature is HOT! What gives? Any suggestions on what to check/replace?

hello,
make sure you dryer is venting outside properly,check the vent,sounds like the exhaust is clogged causing dryer to overheat.good luck

The fact that " clothes come out steaming, still damp, and the temperature is HOT!" indicates you have no airflow. This is why the hi-temp cutout keeps popping. It's doing it's job.
It could be that your filter is clogged and just needs to be scrubbed clean with soap and water. Try cleaning it 1st.
If that doesn't work try diconnecting the vent and run the dryer for one load. You will want to open a window because it will put a lot of moisture in the laundry room. If the clothes dry ok you know you have a vent problem. If the clothes are still hot and wet you may have a blower problem .

It is to do with code. I have posted & gathered a lot on the plumbing forum. Even been spoken down to by a few people on here. Guess all I wanting was someone on there that has these small efficient systems in their home. I did locate today on the Bosch Instillation manual, that the drain pipe can hook on to a sink or tub just like my current combo. This might be the solution to my problem as it won't be connected to a drain pipe. Trust me, I am going to think this through to make this work. I in no way want to have a problem, but Bosch shows that it can be done this way, so really don't see a problem hooking it to the shower area exposed. I even thought of having a big trash can to collect the water as it is being drained, then poor it down the shower...:). I am very creative in my thinking. I like to think outside the box. I have put in a e-mail to the VP of Sales @ Bosch to see if anyone there can speak to me about this issue. If they are going to market this very small units, then the really need to provide as much information for the consumer. Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon. If not, then I will cancel the order.

karenaj, the smaller washers do use less water than the larger ones. Here in the States they normally don't tell you the amount used per load as it is done in Europe. They always give the estimated usage per year which allows you to compare different models, but won't predict your personal results. According to the energy star website the Bosch Axxis uses about 20% less water than the Bosch Nexxt models. The average water consumption per load for the Axxis would be around 12 gallons per load. I am sure that a bath tub could handle that amount. In Europe it is pretty common to have washers drain into laundry sinks. I don't know much about the US code requirements, but I can't see any safety issues with draining a FL into a bath tub. Hope this helps.

Are you sure that's 1/2 cup, and not 1/2 a normal dose? If it does say 1/2 cup, I'd just go with a normal dose per the detergent package directions. Use HE detergent. The instructions are likely for running a cycle without clothes to flush-out any residue left in the machine from the manufacturing process. If the instructions don't state a specific cycle to use, choose one that allows a normal hot wash (a high-temp Sanitary option shouldn't be necessary), lightest soil level (shortest wash time) is likely sufficient. I don't imagine there's a way to get the machine to fill without starting the cycle ... so either add the detergent to the dispenser drawer as usual and carry on ... or start the cycle and let it fill a bit, pause it to add the detergent to the drawer and restart. Doesn't seem that either way should have any effect on the end result.

My pair is almost two years old. A few weeks ago, I noticed the dryer seemed really hot when I opened the door. It hasn't done it again. I clean the filter in the door after each load. Is that the filter you're talking about or is there another one? The dryer vents directly out the back, thru the outside wall, so I don't see how that would be clogged. The clothes did dry, fyi, it just "smell" hot. Thanks.

Your dryer filter could be clogged with fine particles (the one attached to the dryer). You could have build-up of lint in the dryer between the filter and the exhaust (this should be vacuumed out every 6 months or so. Your exhaust duct, no matter how short it is, could have buildup in it, and the cover where it exits the house could be plugged with lint as well.

The "one attached to the dryer," do you mean the removable one in the door? There's nothing left on it or in the door area. I felt/looked down with a flashlight where the air blow (bottom of door opening) and it's clear. The outside vent is not blocked and there's really nothing stuck to the exhaust duct.

How do you vacuum out between the filter and the exhaust?
