Hi Hudson, thanks for helping me get some ideas! Yes, I was thinking I could attach one of those simple portable fans that has the chip-clip type of claw on the bottom and just attach it to the end of a tier. I can either move it from shelf to shelf as needed or I could put one on each shelf, but that might be overkill. Yes, the lights are fully adjustable as they came with their own chains and can be lowered all the way down to sit just above the flats. Also, the shelves themselves are each hung with 4 chains so the shelving can also be raised or lowered if for any reason that was necessary. If I'm growing some short plants this feature may come in handy and I might be able to fit 4 lighted tiers in there when all is said and done, I know I can definitely do 3 and still give the plants plenty of vertical space to grow. Your geraniums look great! I brought two sad little discount geranium specimens into my unheated greenhouse and repotted them. One is alive but not doing anything and the other died (they were in bad shape to begin with). I am hoping the survivor will perk up and put out some growth so I can do cuttings as well over the winter. I'm wondering now after reading someone else's thread about mylar if I should cover the tub walls with it or not. That person advocated instead using a white surface as a reflector because of the wrinkly nature of the mylar and the tub obviously is nothing but a shiny white. Maybe I should just leave it alone and see what happens. I'm going to check into the permanest tray system that you and Karin like. It looks so convenient (not to mention idiot-proof -- a quality I often look for in my products lol).

nancybee_2010: As in most of my decorating projects, I had it 98% complete, but your question gave me the nudge to finish the remaining 2%. I had tried out and returned several pots before settling on just the right one and transplated my other plant in it. I also decided to keep the old photos in my bedroom since I liked them there and bought a new frame that coordinated better with my candlesticks. That 2% remaining was to pick the photo to put in the frame--finally I decided to put last year's Christmas family photo there as I felt the sepia photos didn't look so good in the gold frame, though if others think sepia is better I can scan and tweak this photo for a sepia version. I should probably still tweak the bookcase some more, but it works for what I need it to do which is store books and photo albums. The photo albums don't fit on the lower shelves so I'm stumped how to change it without just storing the photo albums in a closet and then they are not out for people to see. As for the dining room, I did keep the red vase. I love how the light reflects in it. I may add some more vases at some point when the bulb actually dies, but so far it's hanging in there. cliff_and_joann: Thanks for the compliments and feedback. As you see above I did swap out the green vase. Your home is an inspiration to me--esp. your tablescapes. I've been following your DR chairs makeover with interest and can't wait to see the results! On another note, I recently got a new camera and am very excited that I am finally able to take pictures of window shots without the background getting washed out!

Thank you all, again! Les-I love your idea...it was one of the first plans that I tried when we got the new furniture. The EC was a bit large for that corner unfortunately. (It's been in both corners and along the couch wall already!) I also tried the couch on the wall where the EC is, but that wall is shorter and the couch pretty much went from end to end (from what I remember), so no room for a table. But I'll measure and try again. While this is the room that we do watch tv, I agree with you...I do not like it looking as though it's the center of our lives, b/c it's not! I'm wondering if maybe I put the tv on a smaller table (I have one or two that may work) and put it in the corner you said, then move the couch, either to the windows or the back wall, if it works. Thanks for your help! kswl: I love your idea about chairs with legs, for a more roomy look. That never occurred to me. I like the idea of a slipper chair as well. I'm considering turning our DR into a reading room, since with small kids, we don't use that room much at all! We have a morning room with a table large enough for us and more, so losing the DR is not really an issue. So if we change the DR, the overstuffed chair would go in that room. I don't love the EC...it's a Sauder piece that we bought years ago. The *only* nice thing about it is that is has great storage for dvds/cds/kids puzzles & games and even the sides have tons of storage for books etc. Our plan is to send it to the basement, if and when we ever finish it. In this market, we don't want to do it, b/c we may move in the next few years and would never recover the $$. One more question?? Can I do decorative curtains on the two far ends of the windows? So the middle window would be open? I do want to add some color, softness, coziness, but it seems like curtains on all 3 windows is way too much. I've tried valances on all three, but they did nothing for the room and made it seem very choppy to me, if that makes sense?
