I don't have Vista, but I am just as frustrated with Firefox3.

Why can't they just leave well enough alone?

I've had no problems with any of my browsers, I use Vista as well. I just prefer Opera.

I have no problems with Vista or with Firefox.

I'm not having any "problems" it is just confusing. I've been using xp and IE6 for so long now. I expect things to be where I left them, you know? Oh well.

danihoney, bookmark the link below and when you are having a problem with Vista go to this Windows help site. After using Vista for a few months, I would never go back to XP.

I don't dislike Firefox, mainly I just dislike what they have done with the default text size. Sites come up with really small text and I have to be constantly changing it.

I loved the little red A'S for changing text size; the magnifiers on V3 are not as efficient.

I tried Opera when it was new, but preferred FF, and I will stay with it, but it isn't as "pretty" as it was.

Have you tried this one. It puts a little icon in the scroll bar where you can adjust the size of the text or page very easily.

That's O.K. - most of us aren't as pretty as we used to be, either.

I have XP at home, and the motel's computer uses XP.

Apart from being slow, at home (land line) it seems to work all right - though I've noted that the location of "Page back" and "Refresh" seem to have changed.

It's really a good idea to avoid using IE. Most anything is better. And FWIW, Opera has been around for a lot longer than Firefox. It's actually the inspiration for the basic concept of Firefox but is so much more refined simply because it had many years under its belt and a lot of R&D supporting it. Many of the "extensions" or "add ons" are simply standard equipment on Opera that people wouldn't want to live without. Kmeleon is another excellent browser and it too is faster than Firefox and makes the Internet Elephant look even more bloated. Opera's still my favorite. Far more refined, faster, less prone to hacking and just a pleasure to use.

Cynic - Opera sounds good and seems to test well, but a lot of what I am reading says that Opera and Vista are a bad mix.

As you can see, opinions are mixed. But that's all they are...OPINIONS...about what you "should" or "shouldn't" use.

I'll bet you soon get used to it. After you do, you'll never look back!

danihoney, where on earth did you read that? Microsoft? ;) I've been using Opera for years. I know a lot of people who use it. debby_ab is using it too as are several others on this forum. It's a fine mix, if you like a far more secure, far faster, far more flexible browser, and more.

Gee, I thought FireFox was based off Netscape... it sure seemed the same!

Cynic- I was searching forums to read what people were saying. I've since read more. A number of people were saying their system crashes all the time with Opera. Then others agreed and advised against mixing the too. The funny thing or frustrating thing, mine is freezing up constantly with IE7. I've only been using it for three days now, but was also having that problem recently before the switch. I have DSL and, as of three days ago, have a brand new and MUCH faster desk top. So I'm not really sure what the problem is. My connection seems fine. Of all the reading I've done (which really isn't all that much) there really seems to be an equal number of people that either prefer Opera or FF. With a scattered few that still really like IE7 (compared to IE6).

You can make VISTA look like XP with a few tweaks. Just Google it, and you will get many sites that tell you how.

I like IE7 - but I had to do a few things to it. First thing was to show my Menu Bar - do this by right clicking on a blank area (like next to a tab) and making sure "menu bar" is checked. That way I can see my "favorites, Tools," etc.

You can open new tabs by pressing on your center mouse button. I like to open multiple threads here at the KT. On the main page, I click the center wheel on the threads I want to open. I only have one browser window open, but many tabs.

I have Vista....and like it.
BUT....IE7 often opens a lot of junk processes when it's opened, and leaves a lot of it behind when it is closed.
This can interfere with both Firefox and Opera...and Windows Explorer.
That's why I stopped using IE.

If I have to use IE, because a site only demands it, I reboot after using it, to clean up the mess.

Iowa girl - I have 8gb - I'm learning my way around, but still have a way to go. Having the menu bar up there helps and I put my Google Toolbar back up, so things are feeling more comfortable to me.
We are definitely having Internet problems right now. DH is having them too on his laptop. He doesn't have Vista but does use IE7 and FF.
