In search of the not-so-big FL W (&D)
Comments (13)hmmm, wonder how one uses a top loader with the dryer sitting on top; or is the dryer located as the bottom unit which means the person must be quite tall to load/unload the top loader. I had a 24" Maytag & when the drain pump went out after 5 yrs, I decided to get a Frigidaire Affinity. The Frigidaire Affinity choice was considered firstly as it was immediately available & was to be delivered/installed the next day from Lowes. Also had considered the depth of the small laundry closet where it would fit nicely when the bi-fold door was removed & sent to the manager for storage; the older standard for the full sized washer/dryer doesn't stick out into the hallway, except when the doors are opened :) I the depth is 29-3/4 & the width is 27 inches; I didn't have any problems for the width as the the closet was around 40" wide even if it had limited depth; still worked out to have the 10" wide portable cart to store detergent, softener & clorox. If one doesn't mind a visible washer/dryer, then try for a full size....See MoreRecent Experiences with Samsung TL W/D
Comments (2)We bought our Samsung FL last summer (end of June or first week or so of July, can't recall exact date) 2012 and it's still running great. In fact, I'm still totally in love with this machine. We bought the WF331ANR (this was the model number sold at AAFES). The only issue we had was within the first three months the lock broke. It wasn't great to begin with but I accidentally yanked on it when it was locked (not realizing) because I was adding another towel to a load. I called Samsung and they set up a service call that week. The technician was great, replaced the lock, gave me some user tips and left. The new lock design is *much* better and has been solid. I love the internal heater and sanitize cycle. I use perm press, quick wash, normal, sanitize, heavy duty...heck I think I've used all the different cycles. We've a large family, dogs, someone always forgets that 'xx shirt needed to be washed' and we've even used the quick wash on that favorite pair of jeans before school. This hasn't been 'gently' used. It's used daily, often 1-2 cycles daily. It still runs as great as day one and cleans as great as it did from day one. We have filthy work clothes, dedicates, jeans and towels and bedding, and they all come out very clean and not one item of clothing has been ruined. My only regret was not getting one sooner! ETA -- I forgot to mention we did not buy the matching dryer. My Kenmore dryer is still working and we're not in a position to buy another dryer just for aesthetics (I did want to though!) Comments (1)The only thing with the Samsungs would be to check the measurements. The 448 has to be taller, wider, or stick out farther in the room since it's a bigger unit. You probably wouldn't notice the width but the height would definitely be noticeable. And you could just pull the washer out farther so they match in the front. The only problem would be if you can see around the side and would visually notice the space behind the washer. So as long as the washer is a smaller capacity than the dryer you should be fine from an operational viewpoint....See MoreDo we really need pedestals for FL w/d?
Comments (17)I know I'm late to the party, but maybe this will help someone else. I just purchased pedestals for my 4-year-old front load Samsung washer & dryer. The renewed desire for them started after recently using my son & family's W & D on pedestals and realizing what a pleasure it was to do laundry that way. - It might be worth noting: • I'm 4'10" "tall." Why, I thought 4 years ago, would I ever need to use pedestals at my height? However, I have had 4 years of dropping to my knees on our tile floor every time I have to take clothes out of the washer and put them in the dryer...and of course there's constant bending to put clothes in the washer and take them out of the dryer- even at this size. This is becoming increasingly more difficult as I get closer to age 60, with iffy knees and a bad lower back. • ALAS! I found a matching set of Samsung pedestals at my local PC *ichard clearance center (first time looking for them) for TWENTY DOLLARS each- and they're beautiful! How could anyone pass that up??! Even if the W & D were only to last another 3 years, it would still be worth what I paid for the pedestals. The sides have some denting & scratching of course, but the fronts are perfect. The damage won't be visible. I think pedestals (homemade, store bought, whatever) are almost a must for the sake of comfort when doing laundry....See Moredaltex
