That's horrible Joyce. That has been my experience with Kenmore Elite (washer) and I won't buy it again. The Electrolux I said I ordered above - it was gone. I ended up going an entirely different route and bought a BlueStar range and a BlueStar electric wall oven in navy blue. Way more money (range, wall oven and exhaust hood) than originally planned and way more work (had to buy a wall oven cabinet and hubby had to install it where the pantry was, tile backsplash where the OTR microwave was, etc.), but I'm really happy with the results. I've never cooked with gas before and I like it a lot.

Especially so if HU##### wants a matching dryer and adds in the relatively high cost of Speed Queen's dryer versus, say, spending a lot less to get one of the Electrolux models with reversible washer doors (EFLS427, 527, and 627., IIRC) and their matching dryers. Also, I'm recalling that our local Home Depot has some of the new GE "fresh vent" (or maybe "Ultra Vent") front load washer models, and one or two of of those GEs now have reversible doors on the washer. (At least Home Depot said they did.) Sorry, can't recall model numbers at the moment but might be worth your while to check on. Despite the high price, Speed Queen FL models do have a devoted following for reasons outlined in this older thread and this other one. The SQ FL models come with a full five year factory warranty, too. But bear in mind that, if warranty service is needed for some reason, it goes through the selling dealer. So, it is best to check out your local vendors rather than buying a SQ on-line from an out-of-area seller. If you buy from an out-of-town online vendor, and are not inclined to DIY repairs (the SQ's are easy to work on, IME), getting SQ to arrange local warranty service reportedly can be slow and cumbersome. Those considerations might or might not make the Electrolux and GE models seem more attractive choices.

I thought they all had a small agitator at the bottom. Oh well, anyhow we had our set delivered at the new house July 22nd. My washer and dryer are both with the glass doors. I have had no error codes or real problems with mine. They seem to wash well as long as you do not overstuff the washer and distribute the pieces lining the side of the machine. I don't have any complaints but more questions for the Oasis Elite owners. First I suppose soaking is an impossibilty. I do select the stain and prewash/soak selectors when I have clothing with stains, but I do miss filling my washer with water and letting the very soiled items soak for a half hour or so. Second question is the fabric softener dispenser. My last few loads it seems there is a small amount of the blue goopy residue from the downy. I tried diluting the downy but that did not work because it redused the softener effectiveness. Does my washer need to be put through a "washer" wash with the bleach? I have had no mildew problems at all so I have not thought about washing it yet. How often is it recommended? (cannot locate the manual) Thanks.

Craig, I have the first version of the HE3t/HE4t/H35t line, named HE3t. I have to say it is working as well as it did the first day I got it! I am please as can be with it. I do have it plugged into a spike protected power strip. I don't know if that has had any effect. When they first came out, they offered two versions, the HE3 and HE3t. The "t," which stood for thermal optimization, included a heater, faster spin speed, more cycles and additional options. Then the HE4t came out, and the HE3t name was relegated to a lesser featured machine that still had a heater. The HE4t became the HE5t as the model line evolved. I still have the original posters and literature that come out when the HE3t debuted. The HE stands for High Efficiency, the 3 represents Capacity, Convenience, and Conservation, and the "t" for thermal optimization. The HE4t added "Care" to list.
