Wow, I just won a $1000 WalMart gift certificate

Wow, I just got an email saying I won a $1000 WalMart gift certificate and I never even entered any kind of contest. I wonder how they got my email address as I never told it to them either. I bet they'll need my Social Security number to send it to me along with maybe some kind of credit card or bank info along with pin numbers. Isn't this nice? I wonder how they knew I would like to win a prize since I never entered any contest at all?

You wouldn't believe how many of them I win! EVERY day! And the government wants to bail me out, etc., etc.
Why on earth don't they get REAL jobs?

Venus flytraps are native here (North Carolina). Along the coast you can still see limited wild stands of them and native pitcher plants + sundews. Unfortunately it's not as vast or imaginable as one would hope (at least the more publicly accessible sites) and they're not visited much because well...not too many people go to the beach to walk around in the forests 5-10+ miles inland. Shame...they're missing out. We got some great coastal plain forest stands that need to be enjoyed before non-natives deposited along the waterways deposit too much "crap" plants (like spreading cactus already becoming an issue) into the ecosystem.

I've seen them in the store, but would never buy one. Two of my neices want one but ran when they saw how expensive they are. I can't wait to get it now. I was going to give it to my son, because I have a T-Fal deep fryer. I thought I won the same one. When I got home and got the email with the letter I had to sign and return, it said which one I got. I googled and almost had to change my pants when I saw how expensive it is. I told my son I would just buy him a nice one instead. LOL

Well, today was really nice. Lunch was from CPK. Thai chicken salad, a chinese salad, bolognese pasta with chicken, spinach pasta with light cream sauce, and spaghetti with meat sauce. Then the cookies! There were so many, and all so good! I only tried three varieties, an almond bark, chocolate espresso cookie, and cheesecake cookie. We brought a lot home, and the kids are looking forward to tasting them. We will do the scratch offs tonight. Hi Krustytopp, I've been dealing with an invasion of little critters recently, that may be mice - but on the other hand, they don't look quite like garden-variety mice ... more like junior sized rats. Anyway ... ... the tracking that they leave behind to let you know of their presence is quite similar, whichever they are and is here ... in quantity. I'm busy gathering those little black, elongated pellets up, to add to the compost pile. I could perhaps send some to you (possibly labelled as "by-products - of little commercial value" to satisfy the concerns of the postal folks) to take with you when you visit the store that dribbled away the value of your "gift " card/certificate on you. Maybe they'd like some of it scattered along their "service" counter ... ... or you could suggest to them that you could drop some of it among their merchandise, e.g. sweaters, socks, underwear, etc. - to about equal value of the stuff that they denied you. Or, if they have a snack bar, on the tables in there? How about on their check-out counter? I'll bet the check-out staff person would be impressed with that! How long do you think that it'd take for them to get cleaning staff to show up? Do you think that the check-out staff person would still be in attendance at her/his counter by the time of the cleaner's arrival?? Seems like a fitting reminder of your visit, don't you think? Have yourself a lovely week. ole joyful P.S. Hey - I just thought of a better idea. Ask to see the manager. Drop some in his pocket. Tell him that you think that a fitting response to his company's having stolen value out of yours! I think that'd be a fitting conclusion to your visit to his store! Don't you?? On the other hand ... ... if you took the stuff in a Zip-loc bag, showed it and suggested to the various staff people along the route that I mentioned that you were thinking of doing what I suggested, that what did they think about that idea? Ending with your discussion with the manager. I'll bet that they'd remember your visit for a while! On your next visit to the store, you could ask to speak to the manager again ... ... and remind him of your displeasure at your treatment by his store. Mention that you still had that little bag at home ... That you hadn't bought anything at their store today ... ... and wouldn't be doing so for a while. And that you'd been telling several friends of your unhappiness - for months, now. That they'd all had a good laugh at your story - and thought you amply justified in what you'd done. Just thought that he'd like to know. Give him the bag. Just mention in passing that you have another like it at home. No - you didn't threaten them/him with anything. You were just considering certain possible future actions. o j

If only...each day I could probably rack up a few $1000 in gift cards to stores & restaurants and a few kind souls would like me to share their millions in inheritance etc etc.

What a nice shopping spree I could have with those. I'll start holding my breath NOW!! lol

Congratulations! Now go out and spend it quickly before they change their minds. :) You can always take care of the detail work later!

I remember about 10 years ago, my dad was all giddy the one time we were over there and finally he couldn't stand it any more. "I won a sweepstakes! $880,000!! That's three-quarter of a million dollars!" But he did't want to tell 'us kids' until he had the check, and he was all ready to spend himself crazy before even getting it. He actually started spending it, but not too much at least. It took us hours to convince him he hadn't won. And I wonder if that was the start of my name being "Mud" with him. He looked like I had stabbed him with a knife. How I'd like to get my hands on some of these people...

I once won a contest in a magazine. I won third prize. But I misread. I thought the third prize was a real Wurlitzer juke box. Turned oui third prize was a bottle of cologne. But I really did win something once . . .

One time I got a book in the mail. It was called Shabby Chic and I didn't remember ordering it, but thought maybe I did, because I like that sort of thing. Opened it up and there was a card in it....I had gone to a country decorating magazine site...one of the first things I had ever done when I got webtv, and entered a sweepstakes, and actually won.

So, at least that was a legitimate prize. I think it was just about the only thing I have ever won tho.
