That's great! Would be a wonderful commercial for Humane Society, spay & neuter clinics.

Hey...did you see the news bit about the kitten who went in its owner's suitcase and flew to Texas in the luggage part of the plane? Then the wrong person picked up the suitcase and took it home, had a great shock when a kitty leaped out!

CUTE Video!!!

We got a kick out of the 'traveling cat' story...thank goodness it ended well!! Caryn's cats name is Gracie Mae...same as this one. (although, if she would have traveled like this, you would NOT want to be the person to have opened that suitcase!!! Lets just say....she has "Catitude"....BAD!!)

I have a cat sanctuary. Just this week took in a cat with 5 LBS of matted fur. Vet gave the lion cut. Have other long haired cats in my care prone to severe matting. My advice is regular grooming. Shaving fur off in Summer, (all my long haired cats love being short haired cats) and removing mats with a seam stripper or thread cutter (no scissors). If you have a sewing kit there will be one in there. It looks like a two pronged fork with a ball on one end and pointed on the other. You can just run it under the matt without fear of cutting the skin. Works like a dream.

We have been taking care of ferals for years, at least 10 years..Presently, we have a mother and her daughter, we did have the son, but like true ferals, if they get sick, they will go off to die..And about a month ago, a fully intact mail decided to live with us...He's very feral and is going to be a challenge to get neutered....With the other 2, we got help through Ally Cats and our local Humane society and were able to trap/spay/neuter and then release....It's a wonderful program with lots of good information....Our winters in SW. Pa., aren't severe, but it does get nasty and we do worry about them...We do have an igloo but they preferred the frame from an old TV console...My husband made sure it was insulated and then we use, what is called, a Snuggle Safe....Looks like a frisbee and you heat it in the Micro and put it under a blanket and it stays warm for up to 15 hours...Our ferals have become pretty tame, but not tame enough to bring inside...The mother is now 13 years old and it's taken years for me to be able to pick her up...Both of them loved to be petted and loved..... AND, just today, a sweet little gray striped female wondered onto the patio and decided, this was her home..She very friendly, loves to sit on your lap and is litter trained..I've asked all the neighbors and we're now thinking she's been dumped...So, she's spending the night in my laundry room and tomorrow, I'll put a sign in the Post Office...Of course my 2 inside cats are not too happy and hubby keeps saying, we're not keeping her but....... Good luck with your fur kids and bless you for having such a big heart.....

She's a beauty, and so is Pogo. I am very partial to torties. I take ferals that have been spayed or neutered. The shelter called me yesterday to see if I would take a couple more. I said okay. When you have as many cats as I do, I guess a couple more won't matter. As long as they have been neutered and can be outside cats, I take them. I get free cat food and the shelter helps me out by helping me get a break on spaying some of my cats. It isn't an ideal situation...they are wild cats, but at least they have a home and won't have to be euthanized.

Mom sent me this a few days ago. She is the one to CALL for spay and neuter requests in her city. They do hundereds of cats and dogs every year, I'm proud of their group.

I love it!!!

We own 3 rescued cats but so many go homeless, end up in shelters or worse.

That video makes the point, with a touch of humor.

Cute video...sent it to my all my 'pet parents'!!

Hey about the cat traveling story. My cat did this once. I had packed a suitcase and took it to the car. When I put it in the car, I heard a meow. I looked around thinking that maybe there was a cat outside, but I didn't see any. About that time, the suitcase moved(soft-sided suitcase)and I unzipped it, and lo and behold, there was my cat!!!

Luckily, I was at home when this happened, but it taught me to check the suitcase BEFORE I zip it up. And this cat is a 'super-snoop', has to know and see EVERYTHING, so my guess is that it maybe similar to the 'traveling kitty' too.

Thanks Susan. I need to email that video to my next door neighbor. He's been feeding a feral female for over 2 years now. She keeps having kittens and he just cages them up and takes them to some farm. She must be in heat again because we saw two scroungy looking males hanging around the shrub she lives in. It's really taken it's toll on our friendship. We haven't spoken for 4 months now. So far we've trapped two males but haven't been able to get her yet. We're not giving up tho. Apparently if we don't catch her, he will just let her continue having litter after litter. It's sad. ugh!
