LG Washer Help Please!
Comments (29)I bought a Maytag Neptune stacking washer/dryer about 6 years ago, and it is the worst piece of **** you could ever want. It was wonderful at first, but then I put it in storage for about a year. When I took it back out, after returning to college (at 35) it worked for awhile. But two weeks short of 5 years, the whole thing stopped working. You'd press the button to turn it on, and it would immediately turn off. After calling Maytag's service, I was assured that the problem was covered under a "five year electronics warranty." I was told that all I needed to do was provide proof of purchase, and Maytag would fix it. I was transferred to someone else who also assured me that it would be covered, and this person told me to call service back on Monday. When I called back the following week, I was told that my repair wasn't covered. I was transferred to another person who told me that it WAS covered. Then I was transferred to someone else who said it wasn't, and others who said it was. Eventually I was transferred to a supervisor who actually YELLED at me on the phone...a call that lasted 2-1/2 hours. She told me multiple times that MAYTAG WOULD NOT ASSIST, and referred me to my documentation. I told her that I didn't have it, and that I was a student and it was 3 hours away in storage. She yelled at me again, and told me MAYTAG WILL NOT ASSIST. What a witch! I also told them that I was working my way through school it the kitchen/bath/flooring/appliance departments at Home Depot. I told them that I could tell my customers about the horrible customer service that I was receiving from Maytag. They didn't care. Did I also mention that I got the service number from a sticker on the side of my Neptune...it said "Maytag Neptune owners are entitled to PriorityOne service." I thought my $2000 purchase entitled me to a little better treatment than I was receiving, but I was WRONG. I was told by the next agent that PriorityOne service was only good for the first year. Funny, I didn't see a time limit on the sticker. Oh yeah, and I was back in school after being a technical/customer service trainer at Apple Computer's call center in Austin, and was getting my MBA with a focus in customer service. I used my experience with Maytag every opportunity I could in my classes as an example of BAD customer service. Anyway. I'm looking at an LG washer/dryer, and was trying to find out if it's worth the money. I will NEVER buy Maytag again (that's okay, I was told by a regional sales rep for Maytag that they really don't care if they upset a customer, because customers are upset by other companies and they'll come back to Maytag...pathetic). Maytag was sued over the control board problem, but they only covered part of my repair. That's okay, it broke with the same problem 6 months later. It's still broken, and I bought a cheap washer to sit next to it. What a piece of crap! Thanks for the info on the LG. ......See Morelg and whirlpool comparison
Comments (25)Good morning.... to answer the moisture question regarding Miele dishwashers, pulled this from their site, not sure is it answers your question. "Most Miele dishwashers employ an advanced drying system that draws room temperature air through a port at the bottom of the appliance. This air is disbursed through special channels around the exterior dishwasher cavity and allows the interior water particles to condense against the walls of the dishwasher. During this process no external air is ever introduced inside of the dishwasher. This provides the most effective and hygienic drying possible." This is available on newer models... In respect to the whirlpool wfw9400, I have now owned it for a few weeks and just wanted to update. Not sure if my machine is the exclusion, however, for those interested in purchasing this machine..note it does use little water in the normal/casual to sanitary cycles. All the delicate cycles are fine. Having a tougher time figuring out how to best wash my towels. Tried the bulky setting and still not enough water. I know that less water is what these machines are designed to do but, with no towel setting, per se, the water level is just not enough. My towels are washing on top of each other with slightly or no additonal water. The towels through the wash continue to absorb water so not enough water to cushion the load. Also, rinsing is a problem. Especially with towels. I ended up running a rinse/spin 6 or 7 times to get the suds out. Kids clothing and personal garments are also getting extra rinses by just simply doing another wash. I use the lowest amount of detergent possible. Small loads are a couple of teaspoons at best and larger loads is half the recommended. Anyone else having similar issues with the new whirlpools?...See MoreLG Combo Washer Dryer Lint Build-Up
Comments (29)Just incase others have a similar problem - I thought I was getting something similar to this problem. Clothes not drying properly however there seemed to be a lot of steam coming out of the drawer / tray. Turns out the cold water solenoid valve had died (the top left hand of the machine with the 3 blue tabs, just right to the red square part in the picture on the comment above) so water wasn't flowing into the condenser and then the steam wasn't being condensed - you could tell this was the problem since intermittently you should hear a sudden "whoosh" for a second or two every few minutes of the valve opening up and water flowing out. It did appear that less water was coming out the grey pipe on the back of the machine too, but this was because no extra water was coming into the system via the condenser. Anyway bought new cold water solenoid valve for £25, two screws off, 3 pipes on and off and it was fixed. Couldn't find much about this on the web - Just an idea....See MoreNew LG W&D?
Comments (1)I only found this on the LG corporate press release web site. No metion of a 5 cu. ft. washer just updated models: VALUE-PACKED FRONT-LOAD LAUNDRY IDEAL FOR CONSUMERS SEEKING EFFICIENCY AND STYLE The new 3.5 cubic-foot capacity washing machine (WM2016) will now offer an LED display and Dial-A-Cycle control panel to allow consumers to easily select from five washing programs and five temperature levels, as well as featuring five spin speed options for the washer, including one of the highest spin speeds available at its price point at 1,050 RPMs.  The unit is also equipped with a Direct Drive Motor, which operates without belts or pulleys, and delivers power directly from the motor to the drum, bringing consumers the benefits of reduced operating sound and vibration, as well as increased energy savings. The Direct Drive Motor combined with SpinSense  an option that detects vibration and then adjusts the spin speed to reduce vibration  allows for a low vibration level making this unit an ideal solution for second floor installations.  The washer and dryer pair also features LGÂs SenseClean system, an intelligent fabric care technology. This system Âsenses the weight and size of the load, then determines the water level and wash time and sets it automatically resulting in optimal washing care and efficiency. This new laundry pair will be available at a manufacturerÂs suggested retail price of $849 for the washer, and $749 for the matching dryer. NEW 3.83 CUBIC-FOOT MODEL (WM2233) WITH ON-BOARD WATER HEATER AVAILABLE IN MAY For consumers with large families or a desire to sanitize their wash, LG offers a 3.83 cubic-foot model with an on-board water heater. The model also includes an 1,100 RPM spin speed and Dial-A-Cycle control panel with preset cycle selections to provide worry-free settings for optimal fabric care. Users can also save their favorite cycle preferences using the Custom Program feature.  The unit also offers seven wash programs including a sanitary cycle which raises temperatures to 158°F to remove tough stains and bacteria from clothing.  The system boasts a DelayWash function, giving users the option to program the machine to start their laundry up to 19 hours after it has been loaded.  Other design features include a chrome-rimmed door with clear glass panel. The washer is expected to be available in May at a manufacturerÂs suggested retail price of $949 in white and $1,049 in a titanium finish; the matching dryer is available at $849 in white and $949 in titanium. RESTYLED ULTRA-LARGE 4.0 CAPACITY MODEL WITH "LOAD SENSING" OPTION NOW AVAILABLE LGÂs largest capacity model, the 4.0 cubic feet washer, is the largest front load washer available for home use and is ideal for large families as it gives consumers the ability to wash more laundry  including bulky items such as king-sized linens and sleeping bags  in fewer loads, saving time, water and energy. Its high spin speed of 1,200 RPMs helps to extract water from clothing for better drying efficiencies, while still offering a quiet operation.  LGÂs unique "Load Sensing" option determines the size of the load prior to the wash cycle so the consumer can adjust the amount of detergent used. With this feature, consumers will not only save money on detergent, but will prevent the build-up of soap residue on clothing.  The unitÂs matching dryer features a FlowSense Duct Clogging Sensor which detects blockages in the ductwork that could reduce exhaust flow from the dryer. Alerting the consumer that the ducts need cleaning maximizes operating efficiency.  The washer and dryer pair also feature highly styled control with a LED display and ergonomically designed Dial-A-Cycle to allow consumers to easily select from nine washing programs.  This unit is expected to be available in July in a premium pearl gray finish for $1,199 and white finish for $1,049 for the washer, and $1,049 in pearl gray finish and white finish for $949 for the matching dryer....See Moretwitgarden
