My laundry is on the second floor, a straight stairwell, (9+ft ceilings on the first floor, hit the landing, take a couple steps to the right and walk to the left thru the door... washer is next to the wall at the top of the stairs)... I have the bosch nexxt washer/dryer, about 4 years old now... with negligible vibration or noise. Others here have had the same machine with vibration... many factors come into play... the construction of your house, how well balanced and leveled the washer is, how your floor is constructed, and the like.

I know many people with washers (TL & FL) on 2nd floors some with and some without problems.

I personally believe it is silly to believe any one brand will be the 'only' one that will work on a second floor install.

Pick what has the functionality you want and then make sure the place you buy from has knowledgeable installers... and then sit over them with the installation instructions you downloaded before they arrived and make sure they do a proper, by the manual, install.

There are machines that advertise they are "safe" for suspended-floor installs. In fact, there's actually no way to tell whether you'll be OK or not until they're there and running. Some are fine. Some are irremediably awful.

Make your selection, but.....make sure your on-site/in-use satisfaction is part of the deal. If it turns out that whatever machine you select does shake your house and you can't do anything about it, you'll want to be able to return/exchange without hassles.

And remember sometimes a salesperson will say almost anything to get a sale. Make sure you get the return policy in writing before you buy!

I had a GE frontloader set in a second floor laundry room -- no vibration issues. Nothing particularly special about the house or the laundry room either -- house was built in the 1970's (not as good construction as earlier decades) and I don't think we did much reinforcement when we moved the laundry room upstairs during a remodel. House does sit on bedrock, maybe that was key? Anyway, had no issues.

Both the Samsung with VRT and the Electrolux wave touch washer are virtually silent, even when Max spinning at about 1350 RPM. I however, do not like Samsung products at all. I had bad experiences with a Samsung VRT washer and dryer, a Samsung cell phone and a Samsung computer monitor. They are into everything, and I think they have spread themselves too thin. They provide horrible customer service (both my Mom and I experienced this first hand).

Electrolux has very friendly and usually helpful customer service. I think the only problem with Electrolux is their inferior build materials (a lot of parts and plastics feel thin, fragile and cheap)...but the washing machine is SO quiet, balanced and works quite well!!!

For sure do not get a Miele W48xx series. There is nothing on the market built so well, and the cleaning and care for the clothing is, IMO, unmatched! But....Miele does not use any anti-vibration technology, so the machine is whisper quiet while washing and usually while rinsing, but the spin cycles can be VIOLENT!!!
