We've had two sets of Maytags we've been happy with but knew we'd need to replace our last set when we moved into our new home, plus get a second pair because we decided to put laundry capability on each floor (two story house). Upstairs, a European front loading washer was our only choice, as the venting & wiring somehow got reversed on our construction plans, and the door opening would be backwards if we bought an American front loading washer. Downstairs, in our master suite area, the dryer we wanted had to be on the left side, so a right hinged door on the washer made sense there too. We decided to go with Miele for both washers, and have been so pleased with them. Not only does the Miele get the clothes cleaner than we've ever seen, it's very gentle and there are lots of cycle choices. The wash cycle times are longer than our old top loaders, but the spin dry removes so much water that the dryer doesn't have to run as long. We paired our upstairs Miele washer with a Miele dryer, and it too works very well. Our 14 year old son uses them to do all his own laundry. We put a Maytag Drying Center into our master suite laundry; this appliance is tall, with a standard dryer in the bottom & a drip dry center with hangars and/or flat on mesh trays. Unfortunately, Maytag's future is very questionable & the Drying Center is no longer being sold, so we hope it works for a very long time. Miele washers & dryers are unique in that they require 240 power rather than 120, and we only had one 240. However, the amperage requirement is low, so Miele offers a splitter box which allows both washer & dryer to share one 240 source. An electrician can wire the split too. We opted to order a gas version of the Maytag dryer so we didn't need a Miele splitter for it.

Asko would seem to meet your requirements. Possibly Miele also, at a somewhat higher price. Asko T712 dryer, W6222 washer, for example.

Boop, I did the same thing when my washer headed south. Just can't figure out how to get things clean with LG. After reading more reviews than is the norm, we are all having the same problems. LG seems to refuse to address them. The suggestion to keep the washer door open is ludicrous. Are you finding any specific option that works better than the others. I tried the Sanitary just the other day and was floored the timing was close to 2 hours. I haven't tried programming a cycle just for what I want. The reason I bought these was LG had the option to change the controls from top to bottom which makes it far easier to get to controls when stacked. So my dryer has the controls just above the washer. No issues with the dryer, it is great. If I thought the dryer could be attached on top of another brand, I'd admit to a mistake and buy a different washer.

Wow! That laundry room on page 19 I would love that! It is too bad they didn't mention the GE brand as it has a vented dryer and because if you look at its ratings on Home Depot and Lowes you'll find that it is very well rated and it's about the same price as the Electrolux both of which are much less then the Bosch, Asko, Miele group. (Can you tell I like my GE vented dryer (the vent is about 1 foot long)?) I cannot guess at the insides of the Miele dryer but to me the main issue with the new fire code is that you use ducting that is also fire resistant, no more plastic ducting. You still have to keep the entire run clear and if the run is too long you really should be looking at a condenser type dryer instead of a vented dryer. The advantage of having a vented dryer disappears where the vent run is long or where the vent ducting is located in a place you cannot clean it. Unfortunately, I do not think that most people bother to clean their dryer vent even once a year.
