I believe the denim cycle doesnÂt spin so much to reduce wrinkling in the denim material. However, most of the custom programs that reduce interim spin speeds or eliminate them all together will increase rinse water levels slightly to compensate for the lack of wash water removal. So donÂt worry, it rinses well all of the time. I find that a lot of thought went into these mastercare programs and I think they work very well.

All of the programs work great but I will say I avoid the "Normal" wash selection. Instead I use "custom". When using normal the internal heater is inop, it will fill with the temp selected but thatÂs it, temps are even limited in this program, this being a basic wash program that helps It achieve its energy star rating. So use "custom", pick your temp, spin speed, options, then start. ItÂs the best way to do a basic wash I find.

The only (and big problem for me) with using "Custom", is that if you have your W4840/W4842 set to Water Plus (water +), the Custom cycle will not increase the water rinse levels, like it will in the other wash programs. I confirmed this with Miele USA in NJ (and also our Miele Master Tech). So I tended to use Normal, Wrinkle Free, Extra White and Comforters the most.

We've ceased using the Normal cycle as I followed mieleforme's information regarding the internal heater; most washing done with Custom setting. There is a way to increase the water level by turning the "Low Water Pressure" setting on in the programming menu. This will allow additional water, and it not tied to any program or manual wash cycle. We've used almost every setting but the Outerwear.

If I'm not mistaken, the Jeans programme should be designed to prevent 'fading'. Is it to do with the absence of interim spins? My V-Zug Adora has a similar Jeans cycle, but it does feature interim spins, and allows you to select up to 1600 rpm. What's supposed to really 'do the trick'??

The lack of interim spins of the Denim cycle is indeed to avoid creasing AND to avoid these white lines that sometimes form on jeans. I once read that these white (or bright) lines indicate fabric damage. Apparently, applying too much pressure can lead to fabric breakage. Can't confirm this.

The European Denim cycle, by the way, is a medium level wash using the gentle action and three high level rinses - no interim spins. Final spin is 900 rpm max.

I must agree with other posters. The color cycle on my Lux will wash fill rinse without spinning between cycles until before the final rinse.
It reduces stress on color fast garments by not pulling suds through the garment and yanking the color with it during each spin cycle before rinsing causing fading.

To tell you the truth, I use this as a favorite for extra rinses than the default one rinse by the MFG..

Alex is right, the purpose of the denim cycle is to avoid fading where the fabric is bended.....
I guess it has to do with different ways jeans/denim is perceived in America and in Europe. In America it is workwear that is also worn during leisure time, while in europe it is also used for "fashionable" garments. Expecially we italians are obsessed by those white stripes on black denim :) Or, on the contrary, someone wears stone washed, torn, faded jeans :)

Anyway I do agree with Sshivastava about the fact that rinse efficiency has a lot to do with interim spins.
My old Sensor-Electronic has just the final spin on permapress, while the Novotronic makes some bursts after each drain and despite it uses less water than the old water hog, it rinses far better.

Shame on me, tried several time and could not get into programming mode (following my own instruction!).

The trick is, after start indicator flashes one time, you have to start pressing start button five times (and hold on fifth) almost immediately, even one forth of second would would be too long!
