I made a few dishes based on a few ingredients in recent discussions.

Sausage Flavored Cod on Tofu, with Ginger/Scallion Sauce

your dishes are beautiful and terribly creative. do you ever sit down with a pb & j on a napkin, lol? I would love to be served meals that look so pretty.

Thank you....that's it, FULL MOON!!! Well, I'll be looking for a source to get one for next winter. Not the right time to get it now. I only have THREE, could always use a little more beautiful shade, and a good view from every window of the house.

Thanks, Jo. It seems a spring fever has come upon me, and I spent almost the entire weekend browsing hosta catalogs and reading posts and doing some research about hostahostahosta. So....what else is new with the rest of the forum? Don keeps his garden so perfect, my first impulse is to ask him, "How many gardeners do you employ full time to keep it that nice?" Mine will never be so lovely. Somewhere I seem to remember pictures of the massive construction of curbed bed borders and paved pathways of this garden. THAT is total dedication, and also self-knowledge....Don knows his interest in hosta is a life long affair. I have to admire the garden on all points.

Sandy, Love your gardens, your hostas are to die for and your flowers are so pretty. Love how you mix the shrubs, vines, flowers, ground covers, and hostas all together. I also love your statuary! I have a bunny garden and a cat garden. Your bunny with the carrots and those cats by the trellis are sooooo cute!!!! Wish I could find something that cute. We just don't seem to have them here in my area. Everything seems to be just ordinary here. Did you find them locally or buy them on the internet or maybe mail order? Great Gardens!!!

Jeanne, I remember your picture of the buffet and glad to hear you've added more to your collection. I don't think I have room to collect much more but wouldn't pass them up if I came across them at the right price.LOL Jane and Luvs, happy to hear I made you both chuckle. We all need that in our lives. I love the prices at ys compared to GW and other ts. If I didn't work I would try to head out every Fri or Sat. just for exercise and fun. A cold this time of year? NOT GOOD. Better use some Vicks and gets lots of rest so you can hit the road and find more deals to share with us. I won't be able to shop this weekend cuz I'm holding down the fort while the others do a little vacationing. Punk

LOL, jae.

That's an interesting use of artichoke stems, I'm glad I saw that. I actually have artichokes growing in the back yard, I started them inside in March. Now if I can keep the blasted squirrels out of them. I fenced them off from the bunnies, now the squirrels are eating them.

I didn't know the stems were cooked and eaten, but I've never grown artichokes so have never had the opportunity to try it. We'll see how they do, I don't know anyone who has ever successfully grown an artichoke in Michigan and I might not have any either, but I'm optimistic!

Jenny, thanks. The juice from cooking the artichoke stems was used in making the drumsticks. The Jicama was very slightly cooked.

jae, thanks. It really takes very little time to plate food. It takes hours from shopping, recipe planning, prep, cook ------ a dish. Those few seconds to pile food on a plate logically is well worth it; you always get the "WOW"!.

Annie those artichokes with long stems are big globe shaped, not the small heart shaped ones. They are twice as big, very tender and meaty.

The second image makes me think of the BP oil spill in the Gulf. Mmmmm. Shrimp floating near an oil spill surrounded by a few tar balls. Yum. :-)

This is the first time for me when your artful presentation of the food might have detracted from my imagined enjoyment of what sounds like a scrumptious dish.

Bob, that is a fascinating comment, and inspiring too.

I have always just pile food on a plate based merely on the ingredients' natural geometry and color, I seldom carve food to look like something else, or to make a sociological statement.

Your comment makes me think that intentional composition can have more dimensions layered on it, such as symbolism, to engage the beholders into more enriching visual experiences.
