Rhizo, were you really born in NY? In our house (Indiana) we ate the bulb part of the turnip and threw the green part away LOL! Other times I would swear my mother was born in the south, but she wasn't. Enjoy your dinner.

YEA!! Yoga tonight forsure! DH will call in a take out order, I will pick it up after class~~ I will be eating penne/broccoli in my PJ's tonight;)

Another 'fun fact' DH drove himself to the gym today~~his first time in 3 1/2 weeks since his surgery;) AWWW I am loving my 3 hours alone time. I did not know how much I missed it.

Patti, our snow was gone yesterday, it rained overnight and was up around 50. I was not home most of the day so did not keep an eye on the thermometer. Rivals are flour, eggs and some salt mixed together and small bits dropped onto the boiling water of the potatoes or broth, then put a lid on it and let cook some minutes. Then finish up the soup like you want with milk, evaporated milk or cheese. Stirred all together to melt the cheese and get mixed. Really too hot for me today for this but did not feel like doing anything else. I am headed up to my bedroom soon. Tomorrow I think is to be even hotter.

I'm jealous of all that warm weather! It was sunny and fifty here today but I was playing bridge and the house I was in was chilly. I just had some leftover stuffed shells. I'm leaving in an hour to go play Mexican train. DH can help himself to either the last of the shells, or a sandwich and some mushroom soup.

Georgysmom, you'll be on that golf course before you know it. Good luck with Mexican Train (I have no clue how to play that). And your lucky DH can enjoy a big bowl of homemade mushroom soup--and I mean it when I say he's lucky!

I planned to make stew for dinner, but misjudged the time and didn't even start it till three o'clock. Since it takes about 3 hours total to cook, and we didn't want to wait till 6 or 6:30 to eat, I continued making the stew, but we had Healthy Choice Pineapple Chicken. Fortunately for us, both DH and I liked it.

I just finished putting the thickening in the stew; it looks and smell delicious. I know what we're having for dinner, tomorrow night! :>)

Saturday night we had our annual lutefisk and meatball supper at church. I brought home some of the meatballs (left the lutefisk for heartier souls!) so I'm having that, cottage cheese and fresh bread.

We are having tilapia also along with Jasmine rice and a veggie.

Fish Tacos

Leftovers. Yesterday I made my version of scrapple: poatatoes, bacon, onions & cheese

I baked a BIG cheese cake with cherry topping. I just served DH & I each a piece...it's not chilled enough for my taste. :0)

Tonight is a ham quiche, asparagus on the side. A potato crust for the quiche, since my gluten-free neighbor is with us for dinner.

Oh, and Sue's things are rivels, not rivals. One can google. They are a dumpling-type thing in a soup or stew.

One of my favorite combinations, chicken and rice. Cauliflower as a veggie and (low fat) cookies and ice cream for dessert.

Mwheel, stew always tastes better the second day to me anyway, and you don't have to worry about tomorrow. Plus the pineapple chicken sounds really good, so you have a win-win situation!

Phyllis, I've led such a sheltered life! I have no idea what lutefisk tastes like, but it sounds like something made with fish??? I'd be like you and take home some meatballs. I know what those are :-)

We ended up having a breaded whitefish that I found while rummaging in the fish department of the freezer. It needed to be used before the tilapia. It was good, though. I need to make a big batch of rice and put it into 1 c. portions so when we want rice, it's ready to go. Love that Food Saver. We really like basmati rice.

Hounds, I've never had a fish taco, but they sure get rave reviews. What do you put on yours? I mean, is it the regular lettuce, salsa, cheese type taco or something all together different? Is the fish baked or breaded and fried?

And, again, I didn't know what scrapple was, but it didn't sound so good. Yours Nicole, sounds delicious. Sure wish I had a taste of your cherry cheesecake. Yum!

Maryc, what a great idea for a crust your neighbor can eat. I'll have to remember that when Harry's daughter visits in April. She gave up gluten for some reason.

Stacey, chicken and rice is so good. I really like chicken and yellow rice best, though. And my mother made a killer chicken/rice soup. Gosh, you made me hungry all over again.

We had Lipton noodle soup with grilled cheeses. I always put extra noodles in it though. WHen we were growing up my mother made what we called rivel soup but you have to roll the R when you say it in German. I posted how we make it in the DILL IN CHICKEN SOUP? Moni can probably relate to this.

Bengardening, I would never have thought of putting dill in chicken soup, but I'd like to try it.

BTW, I looked up recipes for rivels and was referred to recipes for rivals, so I guess rival is the correct spelling.
