A lesson learned (I hope) A vent

I bought a netbook off ebay, it was $149.99 from the US (so I thought). Never again will I buy anything that might be from China. I had to return my "US" netbook to China today and the cost for shipping and registerd mail was $37.21 for just 2+ LBS. Pay pal did credit me $20 for shipping but boy was it a pain to go through all this.

Beware when buying that its from the USA in case of a return unless the price is very low and you can afford to just keep it.

I had to have a tracking number in order to get a refund so thats why I had to register it :^(

Now I think I should have just tried to sell it. It did work but not what I wanted. They also said it was New, but it had prints all over it and someones email address was in the netbook.

I would report it to ebay and paypal that it was obviously not new as was advertised so you should not be out all that expense. False advertising.

I would complain about it as well, Ebay frowns on liars, Joann. I have a friend that bought a watch from one of the replica companies, she thought it was in the US, it turns out that it was in China. She had to return it, what a hassle, so she just kept it. I guess it was a joke for a friend but it turned out the that joke was on her.

I'm sorry you had to find that out the hard way, it stinks.

Stage Rat, thanks so much. I googled it and that is what it is. I will go right out and dig it up. I don't want those in my flower beds. I wish all my flowers looked that healthy though. I forgot to mention lesons learned about which containers worked best for me. My favorite is the round containers that I get cakes or cookies in (also an excuse to buy them). I make newspaper pots, and they are so much easier to plant out than to try and get the babies out of a milk bottle or 2L bottle. I think the newspaper helps the soil also. I tear off the top as I am dropping them in the hole so that they don't wick away the water. All of mine that were planted that way are doing the best. Also, I put a small water bottle in the center and use plastic shower caps (16 for $1) from the dollar store on top of them--it works great. The second favorite is the 1/2 size stem table aluminum pans from Sam's. The shower cap fits on them also with a small water botter to hold it off the babies. I think I will learn many more lessons from the responses to this thread. Thanks again for helping me ID the plant. Also thanks to everyone who shared their lessons learned. It is a great help. Jeane

Great tool, Dave!!! I love my saw and everyone needs one in their tool box!!! Does it come in pink? Kidding... ;-) This makes root pruning so much easier.. This will work wonders for you Andrew!! Like Dave mentioned, cut around the perimeter of the container so that the circle will be able to come out clean from the container.. Especially if it is concave in design. Then lay it on its side and use a tool that can be placed through the bottom drainage hole to help push out from the bottom as you gently guide the mass of the ball outward. Roxanne. we talked about this during our meeting and this tool will work great for you in your containers as well! When you are ready to repot!!! ;-) Thanks for the picture , Dave. Good luck Andrew... You won't have any problems!! Bill did post a pic.. I'll look for it later tonight. If I remember correctly, he posted a pic on one of my threads about root pruning and how he does his in those large containers. Just let it dry out a little before you tackle this.. I have pics of the huge root pruning of the Pony Tail Palm that was in a huge ceramic container.. That was a job!! Lol!!! Take care, Laura

I've never had goat's milk, either, but I do love goat cheese. I tell my family it will be death by cheese for me here in Holland before I get back to the States LOL! The first time I went grocery shopping here I wanted skim milk for cereal. I got the cereal ok, but I hadn't learned any Dutch yet and the milk cartons were confusing. So I went by the calories on the carton but ended up with buttermilk (which would have been ok in cornbread but didn't work so well on my granola!) seagrass

my MIL has psych problems, she lived in a small garage apartment on our property..she is a hoarder.. even her car was piled with stuff..trash, papers, magazines. broken dishes, art supplies, baskets, plastic containers, receipts, tax business papers from 10 years ago, old clothes, bags of recycling bottles and cans and filthy old smelly musty and moth ball smelling stuff.. helping her clean i once found a ketchup bottle in a plastic bag under an easy chair. it was so old it was dark brown.. she remarried, has moved 800 miles away and i am still finding her crap in the garage. this is after she had 2 dumpsters filled within 12 months.. i have not been to the new place.. i can only wonder.. i do not mind clutter..if the house is clean, floors, windows, sinks and counters, porch, patio, outside of appliances, bathroom, etc.. but that kind of trash and hoarding is really sad. she never taught her son how to clean or be organized and guess who is stuck holding the (garbage) bag? hahahaha i love my man and he is smart and organized at work, when he comes home it is a whole other story.. i am getting ready for winter and cleaning closets and cabinets and putting summer things away and getting out he winter stuff..ugh,,we have literally 2 closets..so things have to go to the garage and shed.. and when i get the place back together i have to put my foot down and set some rules.. EVERYTHING has a home and it's place....especially bad when the kids were living at home, small house, before they flew the coop, what is so hard about putting it back after you use it? and if you drop a potato chip or some food or paper or twist tie or something on the floor why can't some people pick it up? they leave it and will walk by it 10 times!!!! i just tell myself to forgive, they know not what they do...

Good luck if you were to try and prove your situation...it is not as easy as it seems when you complain to ebay. The old saying of "buyer be ware" rings too true with ebay!
Also...no offense but if you think $37.21 is terrible for shipping....you should try being Canadian and getting something from the U.S.A. I seldom if ever buy from ebay now.

I am sorry this happen to you! I appreciate you warning us about your problem. I have bought things from Hong Kong before but they were all small ticket items, and have never had a problem thus far. I sure will be careful, thanks to your advice. I had a problem with a U.S.A. seller before Christmas, but it was resolved when I got paypal involved.

If you ever want to buy ANYTHING off Ebay, ask the seller first (before you bid) if the item is US made.

Jannie, the way I read it, it's not that it was made in China, rather the seller was in China and had to return it to the seller, in China.

The way I look at ebay is no matter whether it's "new in the sealed box" or not, it's still a used item. I wouldn't buy without a substantial discount unless I can't get the item locally or from a known source. I've had mostly good experiences with ebay, but a couple bad ones. One was downright fraud and neither ebay nor Paypal were cooperative on it and after looking around a bit more this vendor is notorious for these issues. Caveat emptor. And sometimes we learn lessons the hard way. I know I have a few times.

Sorry for your troubles. Don't let it get you down too much, for your own sake.
