Wala Wala Onions Cutting or not
Comments (8)When I had them in peat pots it was recommended to me here to trim them growing inside under lights. They were growing under lights and very skinny and I kept trimming them back weekly and they became thicker by doing this. I wasnt sure if I should continue to trim or not now that they are planted and growing on their own. I will start putting clippings on them and not trim them. This is only my second year gardening and this is my first year starting every thing from seed. My early girls have golf ball size fruit on them already and the chives are blooming from last year. I have already harvested my first batch of raddishes. This site has been my guidance and I appreciate the help. Hopefully soon I will be able to repay by helping others....See MoreAbout those pea sprigs and cutting onion tops
Comments (3)I use the tips of the pea plants in stir-fry. But, I'm waiting much later in the season just as the vine begins to bloom. Then, the last 2 or 3 sets of leaves are taken off. It is also kinda nice to have a bloom or 2 for aesthetic purposes. As far as earlier, I don't really know but you can sample and taste. digitS'...See MoreOnion fans - check this recipe! Roasted Onions with Gruyère Crout
Comments (18)This was really, really good. I will definitely be making it again. Two suggestions...Allow plenty of time for peeling and cutting all those onions. And, to help with that, I saw a post (after I'd done mine) that gave a tip for peeling pearl onions. Give them a quick dip in boiling water first which will not cook them, but will help release the skins. I used Gruyere in mine and found that the cheese did seize up somewhat when the dish cooled. Not as bad as mustang's, but I would suggest trying to time things so that you can serve it close to when it comes out of the oven. It took time to collect and prep the onions, to roast them, cut up the bread, toast that, shred the cheese, layer & bake....but I think the results were well worth the time/effort spent making this one....See Moreonions on wood cutting board odor removal?
Comments (7)I will consider all of these and let you know. Thank you - keep em coming. I have tried lemon juice and of course just plain soap and water. Maybe I will try letting it soak as you suggested above. Babka, we don't use the glass one too often and do sharpen our knives frequently (because I also do cut directly on the granite ) Admittedly, I do have a very keen (hyper?) sense of smell....See More- 17 years agolast modified: 11 years ago
