That's why I am very leery of doing business on Ebay, and at this point only look but nothing else. I have heard some horror stories about various situations like yours. And yes, it is bull.

There should be a place where you can reply to her statement, I had to do that once. I know how you feel. Your good feedback will outweight the bad.

Be factual; leave dates of messages you sent and date when auction ended and when you filed.

If you had completed the dispute by saying you no longer wished to communicate with this member, because he did not respond to Ebay's notices, he would not have been allowed to neg you.

I was going to say what monablair said in her last few sentences. I've left negative feedback after completing the dispute process and the seller (or buyer) was unable to leave me any feedback.

There isn't enough room in that REPLY to leave a good enough response...believe me I did it when I got my first and only negative...Her feedback was definitely retaliatory and maybe if you send it to ebay they'll remove it...

Look how many negatives your seller left for other people. My gosh that is ridiculous. She is some piece of work.

I don't remember if when I completed the dispute, if I chose not to communicate with the seller or not. I didn't know that could keep them from leaving me a negative.
I guess now I know.

Oh, also, I just went and looked at her feedback and she has 19 negative feedbacks all with in the period when I ordered from her. I don't doubt that she was hospitalized, I am just angry that she left me the negative and I did nothing wrong.

I don't blame you for being ticked. The fact that she was able to do that illustrates a serious flaw in eBay's feedback system. This sometimes keeps people (including me at least once) from leaving a legitimate negative for fear of retaliation.

Jackie, check this out. She left a negative for everyone that left her a negative one. She shouldn't be allowed to do this.

How does she explain the number of negatives in the past SIX months?

I'd complain to ebay.
Perhaps she was ill and couldn't comply with the agreement but she should be able to destroy other's feedback reputation due to her bad luck...

It seems to me that the least that she should have done was contact you when she had improved health.

If she was in contact with someone familiar with ebay while she was in hosp (if she had been feeling up to it) she might have had such a person contact you within the "dead" period.

Leaving retaliatory negatives as a matter of policy is dirty pool. Especially when the original complainers had a legit. beef.

Well I don't ebay much but when I do buy (only Buy It Now), I read the feedback itself since I know the absence of negatives (or having a few) doesn't really mean anything. The system is very screwed up when buyers or sellers who get unsatisfactory service don't feel they can leave a negative without fear of retaliation. Many times if you read a positive or neutral rating you can read between the lines and see it was a negative. If I saw that negative Tammy I wouldn't hold it against you for one moment once I saw it and looked at her ratings.

That is just not right. That is one thing ebay needs to change. I have to admit though there have been a few times I should have left a negative, but knew they would just leave me one in return. I know it won't hurt you if people see what this person has done, but still it just makes me angry when someone does that. It is just mean.

Same thing happened to me, Mickey. I'm still mad and it's been almost a year. My lousy buyer is now NARU'd. Good riddance.

I see where some of the peeps have gone on to mutually agree to withdraw their feedbacks with her, maybe you could do that, too? Here's a link. Also, I would consider emailing Ebay about this, for her to give that many retailitory negs has got to be against some kind of Ebay rules, especially when she is so clearly in the wrong.

Flamingo, what does NARU stand for?

Obviously I'm not Flamingo, but I believe NARU stands for Not a Registered User. Someone either cancels their own account or has their account suspended by ebay.

Flamingo, I thought about emailing ebay about it, but wondered if they'll really care, since I am one out of millions of people on ebay. I'm not sure about mutually agreeing to withdraw our negatives, because she still deserves to have hers. I actually found in my messages at ebay last night that she messaged me the day after she gave me a negative, Dec. 11th, and offered to pull my negative if I pulled her, and that just pi&&ed me off more.

I can see where that would make you mad, Mickey, BUT- your comment to her would still be in place, buyers would still be able to see that she screwed up bigtime and you would have your perfect feedback again. I would bite the bullet and do it, if it was me. That said, having one undeserved negative won't kill you, I know this first hand.

I would still report her to Ebay, it's possible they'll look at what she did and NARU her and maybe yank all the negs she left. (Thanks for explaining that, msventoux.)

Mickey, stick to your guns. Mutually withdrawing the feedback lets her off the hook. She's already gotten 6 other people to agree to do this which means she really has 6 more negs than her record is showing.

Her neg for you does not damage your credibility at all. Any eBayer reading it will see what really happened and not blame you at all.

In the future, if this happens again just end the dispute as I mentioned above and leave a neg. In addition to the neg the seller will receive a strike against her and if she gets 3 strikes she's removed from ebay.

More wronged members should do this so we'd weed out the rotten apples from eBay.

You know Monablair, in light of her further actions, I'm gong to stick to my guns, and I'm not going to mutually agree to pull the negative. She deserves hers. I am going to email ebay as flamingo suggested, may not do anything, but at least they will be enlightened of her actions.
Also, if I had been this seller, when getting out of hospital/nursing home, I would've emailed the people who I hadn't been able to send their poducts to, apologized with an explanation, and offered to still send what they had bid on. I never even got an apology, and if I had, I would've gladly pulled her negative, and sent her money again so she could send me the book. I still want the book, after all. But instead of an apology, I got a retaliatory negative which included her excuse. That's just wrong.
Ok, I'm done. I'll email ebay over the weekend, and will wear my negative proudly..LOL!

The whole thing looks bogus to me, but who knows maybe she really was ill and/or hospitalized. I agree that in all that time she could have found a way to communicate with her buyers.
There is a time limit on how long someone has to leave feedback, it used to be 90 days, someone who is more active on ebay may know if that's still accurate - what you can do is wait until the last day to leave the feedback and then they have no chance to retaliate.

I hope that seller is through selling because she has just done herself more harm than any buyer she left a negative for. Anybody who sees that would not buy from her.

Being sick is no excuse. Surely there is someone she could have asked to take care of her auctions, answer her emails etc. It is a sellers responsibility to be prepared. I can understand a house fire or something like that where things were destroyed that the seller couldn't follow through, but at least they could get someone to notify the buyers.

She seems to have an adult daughter that has her own web sites(read seller's "about me") that could have alerted the buyers. No excuse for this to have happened.

I had a bad experience and got my first negative from an unscrupulous vendor. I have since discovered you can view all feedback for any ebay vendor or buyer at toolhaus.org.
Had I gone there first I might not have purchased from that vendor. Sorry for your negative, but most people should realize that it happens and through no fault of your own.
