Do your dogs bark at dogs on TV?

Conway doesn't usually pay them any attention but last night we were watching Cops, one of the K9 units was on the show and Conway just went ballistic barking at the TV. (From under his blankets of course, he didn't actually stick his head out to see what, or who, he was barking at. He protected the house securely from his snuggle in momma's belly! LOL)

When we had our Ginger, she'd bark at TV dogs, and when a doorbell rang on TV, she'd run to our door. She's also go up to a figurine of a Beagle like the one we used to have and bark at it. Thought another dog was encroaching on her territory. We miss that little doggie!

My dogs go nuts when the doorbell rings on t.v. I was watching something the other night, I can't remember what, but I swear the doorbell rang every 30 seconds and they would all pop up and start barking. It was annoying. lol

Yep, pee is a great fert...but not neat. Diluted by at least 10:1 it is a sovereign plant food...and I do clamber on top of the compost hill for a pee when no-one is around. Truthfully, I find the hidden cat presents far, far worse than any doggie droppings...nothing much wrecks your day as much as plunging your ungloved hands into the soil only to sniff (and feel) that unmistakeable odour of felis domesticus...and if dogs were allowed as much free reign as cats, not to mention the slaughter, they would be caged and muzzled. Always a bit problematic since here in the UK, cats tend not to be house cats as they often are in the US (and not something I could personally condone anyway) and since one's own cats rarely use their own abode as a toilet, it is always a cause of neighbourly wrath in my part of the world when catching that huge red tom from down the road, squatting in my troughs again.

When you put manure in your yard what do your dogs do?

No odor. But that may also mean no nutrients. My uncle, an old farmer when I was growing up, spread manure on his fields and tilled it in within 24 hours of spreading it so the nutrients would not be lost to the atmosphere. He said what you smell from manure is nutrients going out into the air.

I got two large very nice (and matching) doggie beds at Target. Microsuede beige on one side (for winter), and a subtle sage green cottony print on the other (for summer). My dogs love them. Covers zip off to wash. And there's room to add memory foam if you want. For the memory foam....I have old memory foam pillows that I could slice and put in their beds (human pillows are thick)....OR...I was thinking that one day I'd buy a twin size memory foam on a good sale (usually at Penney's). That's large enough to cut into two for the dog beds, with some left over. Oh, and one of the dog beds I got at Target was on a great sale. When I saw my dogs loved the bed, I went back to get another one, but they weren't on sale anymore. I would never pay those high prices I see online or in some stores. As for the pet stores, I've seen lately they are coming down in price, I guess to be competitive with the discount stores.

On occasion it happens that my dogs get tricked. To me which would be harder on the dog, not getting a treat when I need to bring them in. OR me picking up a 80 lb plus dog or pulling and dragging him in I have done both. (this is not the norm occasionally my lab gets it in his head that he wants to stay out all night) Trust me the fake out is way better especially at midnight. Also works turning out the light and closing the door wait for 5 minuets then go get him. ( that trick I learned from my dad and me not getting home on time ) As for those who think resorting to a trick as poor training I say forget you. There is a lady at work likes to compare her oh so trained border collie which she got as a 3 month old pup to my big lab that I adopted when he was over a year old and had no socialization. When I share stories about my dohinkuses which are intended to be funny glimpses into the trials and tribulations of my dogs she always has a comment about how her dog always listens etc. In my own defense there have been many behaviors that I have resolved so I understand the need for training for safety of the dog and humans, and their of course needs to be rules but I would never ever ever want one of those overly trained dogs who have no free will cause their owners have replaced it with theirs. So yeah I have and will continue to trick my dogs if I need to if it means they get to be themselves. Oh yeah and did I mention the well trained border collie never gets walked cause she pulls on the lead.... hmmm :) Love my doggies

Not these new dogs but the old dogs did. I don't have a doorbell so they don't know about that.

Oh yah, Toby barks at a doorbell on TV. But not so much at barking dogs.

Sometimes Elvira will poke up her head and look around when she hears dogs barking or whining on TV. She also runs to the door when she hears a doorbell or knocking on TV. DH, as a joke, kept rewinding the tape and playing the doorbell part just to see if she would keep doing it. She did it every time. He was ROTFL. After the 3rd time, I said enough! Poor thing gets no respect.

My last dog was too funny! When the elevator bell would ring on "Murphy Brown", he would start barking and run to the door. It was only on Murphy Brown, no other show doorbell or sound made him do this. He also howled at the B52s, but that's another story.

The new dog watches TV sometimes, but it's only watching, no barking or puppy silliness.

Yep, there's a commercial for something on tv that has a doorbell and Roxie has a fit when she hears it. She also occasionally barks at dogs on Animal Planet.

Doorbells sometimes. Dogs never. My dogs don't bark at other dogs in real life either.

Several of the yorkies bark at doorbells or barking dogs or meowing cats on TV.

But Scrappy is the only one who barks when he SEES a dog on TV. He actually watches TV, and when he sees a dog he starts in. It's funny!

They bark at doorbells and dogs barking. Lord forbid a Cat should Meow.

But, the funniest thing of all is their "disgust" of the CSI Miami Theme Song were there is a loud Screeching Scream. They tilt there heads back an "howl". We call it singing.

Old Hommie Dog can't stand to hear the Phone Recorder. He sings through the whole message.

Jaggs will run right up to the TV and bark at them. A car door sound, door bell, telephone ringing on TV will also get him excited.
