Do You Have Laminate Flooring in your Laundry Room?

Just wondering. Seems a lot of people use it in their kitchens. I'd expect it to be fine in the laundry room as well. I'm talking a good quality laminate and not the $0.99 sq ft "special."

We have just taken out the laminate out of our kitchen due to water damage accomplished by both us and the previous owners.
I would not install laminate in any area with high moisture; kitchen/laundry/bathroom.

We've installed vinyl when we replaced the laminate; our laundry room still has the original vinyl in it, and of course it's an easier clean than laminate.
And, if you're tired of that particular vinyl pattern look,you can replace it fairly cheap.

I had way too many drips, spills and leaks in my life to put laminate in the laudry room, kitchen or bathroom. Vinyl works good but tile is the best. Or stamped concrete.

We have one and wish we didn't. They installed it hard against the wall, despite my complaining that I thought it would place the washer too close to the wall. Builder was adamant that it wouldn't be a problem. Short story, builder was wrong, I was right. We have to have the dryer closer to the wall than we wanted, or just have the units uneven at the front, which is totally unacceptable, in my opinion. The pan is metal and is set on the sub-floor. Tile surrounds it. It was moderately difficult to get the washer in there, especially since we put tiles in the pan to raise the washer to the same height as the dryer. What is really annoying is there is no real need for the pan. The laundry room sits over a root cellar. A Washer leak would not be devastating. I would much rather have had a drain centered in a slight depression under the washer. It would have looked better and made the washer/dryer installation and servicing so much easier. I would like to remove it and fill in the area with tiles, but right now we have a lot more urgent things to do.

Renee, thank you for your explanation above and now posting the pictures. I really like the looks of the fans and am also planning on FLs so I will have to give fans more thought. Love your laundry signs, by the way. mustangs, thank you for the picture. I'm also going with white cabinets and pretty sure with white W&D but with accent colors of both red and yellow. Would you mind sharing where you purchsed your light as that would be a nice look in mine I think? Thanks, also for the information on the bulbs. dadoes, thank you for your input also, but I'm only wired for one fixture, though I did use cans in other areas. Mike and ella, I had considered some sort of track light. Ellas, I love the one you linked to. How does halogen lighting compare to other lighting? I've never had a halogen fixture. chipshot, thanks for responding back with the link to the schoolhouse fixtures. They are lovely and unique fixtures but would not go with the look of the room. ebear, would you mind giving me the dimensions of the room that the 2 60w bulbs light up? I could then compare with the size of my room. You've all given me such good information, pictures, etc. and I truly appreciate it. (Seems the decisions on the smaller things like lighting fixtures are much harder than the larger ones like flooring, paint, etc.) :)

Mine is in the basement, so I have one window that provides very little light and two pair of fluorescent tubes. Unlike the other posters, though, I have a miserable time examining clothes for stains and the like. I was thinking of switching to full-spectrum tubes, but it sure would be nice to know if they would change anything positively before I spent that kind of money.

We have had laminate flooring in the kitchen, laundry and half bath for 13 years now and never had a problem. Unless you leave spills without picking up you shouldn't have a problem. Even then it would have to be a good sized spill. A flood in the laundry room could cause damage. But even then it would have to be standing for a while. I had a flood in the laundry room but caught it right away and had no damage.

I have laminate floring in my laundry room and love it!!!!. And just so you all know it was the $0.99 a square foot stuff. Like ebear1271 said, it can pretty much stand up to just about anything. I have 3 dogs that like to "supervise" me doing the laundry. I have spilled water and such and it still looks new. Granted, when water or anything liquid is spilled, I clean it up right away.
