and FLYLADY I'm not! (those of you who don't follow FLYLADY...one of the things they teach is to ALWAYS have a clean and empty sink)...well look fast..cause this is the new sink my hubster installed for me yesterday...YEEE HAAA!! I'm THRILLED to say the least...I'm not a fan of stainless steel and I love this one cause it has a big bowl for washin up big pans...so he put it in and put a new disposal in...I probably wont get to ask another favor for at least 6 months...LOL

He still has to install a instant boiling water thingy on the little button on the right...the button on the left is the disposal off/on switch!

I'm starting to like my kitchen so much that maybe someday I'll learn to cook!

I love it! Almond! is my kitchen color too, but I have a stainless sink. Wish I had yours!

Now don't get carried away! No need to learn to cook now. Just enjoy loking at it. If you don't cook, it won't get dirty!!

Les - Thank you for the encouragement in your previous post. I really have been beating myself up about this, mainly b/c I'm such a perfectionist and it kills me that I made such a big, costly mistake. But you're right, at least I am doing something and in the end it will look great. Polkadots - Yes the banisters were a LOT of work. It took 3 guys an entire day just to do the banisters. First they taped off everything around them very carefully, then they stripped them, then sanded them, then stained them, then sealed them, then put a veneer on. It was a ton of work! But I absolutely love the result and I'm glad we did it. It had bugged me, the light oak color that they were before, ever since we moved in a few months ago (this was a spec home so we didn't get to pick them). I appreciate the pp's cautions about the art niche. I do agree that it will be limiting in what kind of artwork we can put there, but I think we plan to put a large iron scrollwork of some sort there, so the color won't matter and will set off the iron that much more. Also, we are just doing the back wall of the niche in red, not pulling it onto the sides of the niche, so it won't be as overpowering. At least I hope so. OK everyone...so now I'm wondering - do y'all think that pulling the Latte through to the LR will make everything too dark? Also, do you feel that Latte is too dark for the entryway or is it OK? I am thinking that having everything one color, since the floor plan is SO open, would make things flow better and look bigger. At least that's what I hear on all the design shows LOL. So we were just going to do Latte throughout, but now I am questioning whether I should pull the Latte through or do a lighter coordinating color, Nomadic Desert or Kilim Beige, in the LR... Is the Latte too dark for my big open LR?

Ohhhh! Count me in for the "happy" club. I have a new beautiful toilet, too. Well, it's been crated and stored in the garage since July, but it will be installed in the bathroom, eventually, and then I just know I'm going to love it. Here my Kohler's Katheryn, one-piece, comfort (ADA) height, elongated potty. Mine has a black lid with brushed nickle fittings. The trip lever is brushed nickle and white porcelain to match the sink faucet. Now is that gettin' above my raisin' or not?! LOL

Holly-Kay, I agree (though in my case it might be iced tea). After my mom passed, I took my dad to the veteran's cemetery to see the marker in place. Remains there are placed in the order recieved and my dad waited until they were on the side of the columbarium facing a pond and then calculated the days expected to be able to place her in front of it and between two trees. And that's exactly what he got for her (and later him). As we were there remembering her, a great white heron was standing at the water's edge. It let us watch a while, changed locations a couple of times and then took off and flew around and over the pond. I felt my mother was acknowledging our presence and letting us know she was free and at peace (she had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's 11-12 years earlier and had a broken hip and horrible GI infection at the end). Now I remember her when I see one linger when I approach or fly overhead. That's as close as I'm going to get while I'm still here. I'll take it. Patty Vinson -- I haven't seen a lightening bug is so many years. I used to have them in my backyard of the house I lived in before DH and I were married -- so I guess that would be about 25 years. I miss them, and I like your list. :)

VERY nice Lizzy. It's so pretty and sparkly. I'm already envious of that boiling water feature. What a great idea! You've worked awfully hard on your kitchen. I'm happy to hear you are enjoying it so much.

Oooooh, I can see why you'd owe him after that, Liz. Did it take all day? That's a lot of installation, new faucet, wiring, caulk, oh my! But look how new and gorgeous it is! And quit kidding, I know you can cook and really well, too, because I've eaten at your house, so don't be spoofing us!

I have a sink like that, and I love it. Although, the surface seems somewhat porous, which I was afraid it would hold any stains. However, the stains that do happen, clean right up with soft n' scrub.
But then, why cook and get it dirty!? I agree with vannie.

Great! Umm...did you have to beg and plead very much? LOL

Do like the movie stars that have big, beautiful model kitchens....order take out (or order in). All the dirty dishes go in the garbage, no need to dirty the sink.

Flames..It took most all day...because of the rewiring and replumbing...this one is of course designed different and deeper so the old piping had to be replaced...then he decides to replace the disposal while he's at it...so it was an all day affair...shhhh...don't tell anybody I can cook...I only do that when you're here! LOL

Linda, I bought one at HD in December...it wasn't what I wanted..so I took it back and ordered this from Home Depot online and it was free shipping and came really quick...I was so sick of that icky stainless steel that I woulda ripped it out myself if it had been much longer...

the first person who scratches it or does something to it had BETTER BE ME...then I can yell at myself...it's kinda like the first ding on a new car...ya know it's gonna happen...

Very nice. Where is the place to turn it on? That must be a great feature having the hot water instantly. Mine is almond too, as are all my appliances. But both sinks are the same size.

How pretty! Nothing quite so special as a new sink! We'd never had stainless until we built this house. I love it and could never go back!

I do like stainless, but your sink sure does look purdy, especially with your countertop.
Like you, things like a new sink make my very happy. Right now I have my eye on some new hinges and door pulls...

Liz, I like that oversize sink. I wish I had one. At least I have an almond one. A number of years ago when I had a home built I had one of those instant hot water things installed. I loved it. I drink a lot of hot chocolate from mixes ( love the chocolate raspberry flavor ) and that was even easier than microwaving the water.
Do you mind if I save your picture in case I ever want to see an empty sink again?
