Help me figure out what washers are quiet

don't want a FL, at least I don't think I do. I bought a new Whirlpool 5800 W/D set to replace the 7 year old Kenmore 90 series (son took them). The new ones are louder than the old ones. The special sound insulation is four small rubber looking patches on the inside panels...a joke.

It seems from postings that the Whirlpool Cabrio is quiet...but it also seems a lot of folks have had problems.

Any updates or suggestions on a quiet solution?

PS: Neb. Furn. Mart is happy to take the ones I just bought back with a full refund. That's good.

I own a Cabrio HE, got it almost a year ago. I have had no problems with it and it is pretty quiet. You can hear it filling with water but once it starts washing it is very quiet, sometimes I have to peek in the laundry room to make sure it is still washing. I paired it with the Whirlpool Duet dryer which is also quite quiet. They are both much quieter than my old Kenmore machines. The Cabrio does have one point in the drain/spin cycle where it makes a popping noise that is rather loud, but that only happens once per cycle. I think I read that it has something to do with air being sucked into the drainhose as it empties. I don't find it bothersome, I don't even notice it if I shut the door to the laundry room. My laundry room is on the main floor between the kitchen and dining rooms, right across from the family room. I did own a Bosch FLer briefly, it was Very loud in the spin cycle, it sounded like a helicopter taking off as it was going up to high speed.

From what I have read the new "Hydrowave" wash sytem from GE is VERY quiet if you are looking for a Traditional top load washer.

I would check the front load Samsungs with VRT. They are very sturdy and quiet even though you say you don't want a F/L but you might change your mind..

The separate piece is the massive ottoman. Its a 2 piece sectional, sofa and chaise are the 2 pieces that fit together. The ottoman, is pretty but WAY too big and way too much grey for the room. So if I keep it, I would buy a coffee table/ottoman that is smaller.

I created a pull out desk (narrow one) in a book case using cabinet drawer slides on the bottom of the “desk area” I did make sure the height was table height so a regular chair could be pulled up. You’d want to remove your quartz top though I’d think. Or use that part as the desk top and add a piece of wood under it. I’ll post a pic in the morning.

It is rather, a Dracaena, a form of D. fragrans. It might be one of the curly ones in the ’Dragon’ series. Some have names including ”Tornado” or ”Twister”.

My Speed Queen AWS51NW (has Hush Pack) is way quieter than my 30+ year old Whirlpool. :-)

It will make some noise switching "gears" between fill, agitate, drain, rinse, spin, etc. but within each step, it is very quiet. It's very hard to tell that it's agitating or spinning.

FYI - Washer is in an unfinished basement on a concrete floor.

If you want a washer that is built tough to last get a Speed Queen top loader.
As I posted above I have read how quiet the GE is but the SQ is a MUCH better machine and the warranty is TOPS..

I have the GE Harmony which is in the laundry room off of the kitchen. I sometimes can hear the spin cycle if the house is VERY quiet, otherwise I never notice it's running.

Well, ANY front loader will be VERY quiet, as will the Whirlpool Cabrio. I certainly wouldn't count-out a Front Loader right away. You may want to rethink that.

Too many benefits to mention!

I NEVER hear my Front Loader! But, it's always best to have to have them on a cement floor. No matter what washer you get.

I would never buy anything BUT a Front Loader.

I sell every machine out there....but, if I HAD to buy a top loader, I'd certainly get the Cabrio. (no brainer) We have very good luck with them.
