jejvtr - Question about your refrigerator
Comments (3)gayle - I just did a little researching for you - knowing how arduous this process can be My end panels dont come out more than the upper which is a false cab - the panel on one side is 27.5" yes, that is right! the other side is a hutch type cab so top cab is narrow sitting on a narrow counter I climbed up w/measuring tape in hand - the fridge is def a few inches out from the wall - not sure how many - I'm sure that is for elec (no sure of exact loc but back there somewhere & water line) but... I grabbed back of fridge w/tape & measured to front of the doors (which are a full 2") it is 26.5 from back of fridge to front of door (no handle incl) - The way mine is placed in the "cubby" it is 29.5 from rear WALL to front of fridge including doors -that explains the 27.5 panel - gives exact allowance for proper door swing - the way it is situated it is dead on for no black sides showing & proper allowances for full door swing so the fridge must be 3" fr. rear wall Please make sure you KD takes responsibility with this - they ultimately are the ones that are signing off on measurements - Specs posted below hope this helped - let me know if you want add'l pics or info Here is a link that might be useful: JA CD FD specs...See MoreWhere are your island outlets?
Comments (17)Code varies state to state, and often even town by town. In my town, you can't put a plug in if the overhang is greater than 6". But your town's code might be different. Just ask the electrician. The solution my builder came up with is to have a little box for the outlet built out from the side of the island so that the outlet faces the working side of the island where there is only a 1" overhang. It will probably look a little odd, but I'm pretty sure it will not be that noticeable--and even then only from the working side of the island. I'm checking with the electrician to see if we can use plug mold there, which will make it almost invisible....See MoreWhere to put island electrical outlets?
Comments (20)@User I'm reaching out because the 4 people who are professionals on my end are ALL telling me the same thing but those on Houzz are telling me different. It's not about money. If it was just the KD (who actually isn't one of the 4 telling me any of this, we sort of eliminated her from the picture aside from ordering the cabinets) then I would not be trying to understand this more. BUT, because I read some things and subsequently asked on Houzz and I'm hearing differences I'm trying to understand it as I am the one that is going to need to go back to the contractor, architect, electrician and designer (not the KD) and tell them that I need further research and why. It's really not a money thing it's me trying to honestly understand it all so when I talk to the others actually involved in this project I have the knowledge to back it up. The reason I'm posting is that I've read things that I personally think contradict and I'm trying not to get into a Help Disaster situation. I think the more help disaster would be me not reaching out and me not having a conversation with the professionals on here to try to truly understand it. I really didn't appreciate your post as it makes it sound like I'm just being stupid when it comes to a big project when what I'm trying to do is ensure that no mistakes are made BEFORE we order anything. If I just trusted what others said then we may be in that help situation but that's the exact opposite of what I'm doing....See Morewhere to put electric outlets in floor of new build great room
Comments (9)We hadn't decided on furniture layout, but I spent a lot of time configuring possibilities. Ultimately, I had my builder put floor outlets in 3 locations to cover my bases. At the very least, you need to figure out where your focal point will be (fireplace? TV?) and where your walkways will be so you can add a floor outlet along the "edge" of your seating area. In a room that large, you might even have more than one seating area......See Morejenswrens
