Cheesecake Question

I've made a few cheesecakes in my life, but am not at all an expert on them. My recipe called for me to cook for 1 hr and then turn off the oven and leave in for another 30 minutes. I followed directions exactly and the cheesecake is rather dark on top. I always thought cheescakes were suppose to be more white and even a little woobly in the center...never really had an all over brown one. Is it over done? Should I try to make another? It's for a party.

And, I know this had been asked before, but any ideas for a topping to put on and then transport to help cover the dark top? Can I ice it with sweetened sour cream or something or will that not work? I also have some strawberries to work with but not sure if I can top it so far in advance. I'm not looking for something to serve with it, but rather cover up the darkness and maybe add some moisure if too dry.

Thanks!
