I got my Bosch Nexxt 500 from our local Lowes (Bolingbrook, IL). They had them in stock and delivered it the next day. Maybe it depends on the area of the country you are in? Pattycat had trouble getting her 500, I think she said she is in Columbus, Ohio. Good luck.

Is Lowes the only place that sells this model? Perhaps a different dealer?

Or try a different Lowes in your part of the country. We once had a car dealer swear up and down that he'd checked the inventory of every dealer in the midwest for a model with the options we wanted, we found the exact car at a dealer 45 minutes away.

That's an excellent suggestion. If you have not tried it yet, go on Lowes web site and search for availability. Maybe you will find a store nearby with some in stock. I do think they charge extra for delivery over 20 miles. Good luck!

From what I've seen they are decent as FL go. I've had horrible luck with Ken-Pools, so they are out. Considered Frigidaire, but they don't seem to have as much bang for the buck and LG costs too much buck for the bang....and I'm definitely not in the Miele and up price range...

Not to mention the 12 month 0 pmt 0% financing Lowes is offering : )

I see one in stock about 2 hrs from here so I might try that angle. That is odd, since the regional distributor is telling our Lowe's that they are backordered regionally (the entire SouthEast) due to issues in the production facility. Sounds like the distributor is a bit misinformed.

svcmgr said he formerly worked for Bosch. From the tone and content of many of his messages it appears he has a grudge to bear.

As a new member of the forum he hasn't contributed much to boost his credibility.

It's too bad because he probably has some good wisdom to share if he could get over his anger.

I have been reading these forums for months now, researching FLs, in particular the Bosch after seeing them at Lowes and comparing them to the others they sell... Our first impression was they were very well made and so I hopped on the internet to find out more and ended up here.
You have all been extremely helpful and informative making my decision to buy the Bosch Nexxt 500 feel like the right decision... with that being said, We placed our order at Lowes for the Bosch set on Dec. 30 ... last day to take advantage of special rebates and 10% off discounts. It is now March 7th and they still don't have our set. I haven't been too upset as new laundryroom remodel is taking longer than we planned so I am not really complaining, but I live in NE Ohio - the store associate explained that a new distribution center was added but its distribution number was not added to their ordering system blah, blah, blah and they don't have them in warehouse, they are shipping them from other stores or dcs or they are backordered.(the excuses I have been given -- sounds like regional Lowes problem. I have been told they would be in every week since Valentines Day -- as of yesterday, still not in and don't know when they will be. All I know is now I am getting eager to get them and have already discussed with them that to make me a happy customer, I had better get a really good deal on the pedestals that I had wished I had ordered!

Just wondering if you have considered the Nexxt 300 instead. I think the main difference is a slightly slower spin rate (1000 rpm vs 1100), 150 max temp vs 170, and a few less cycles. At least those are the differences I can discern. Maybe someone else can identify others?? I'm trying to decide between the 300 & 500 series myself....

The 500 has the 25 minute "Quick wash 25" and "XXTRA Sanitary (170ºF)" which appeal to me... The Quick wash especially-- what I have read on this forum was that setting is great for lightly soiled and cleans at least as well as my old Kenmore toploader.

I know this is a real issue right now. Frankly, demand for these products has been very high and we are working as hard as we can to build them to fill every order. There are no problems with the machines themselves, we are just adjusting to a shift in demand.

I definitely AM a marketing type, but don't worry svcmgr I am not too worried. I can understand that after dealing with service issues, you might have a negative perspective on any brand you worked on. And actually, input from people like svcmgr and all of you has played a large part in making the machines better. Since the launch of this product platform we have made improvements to the suspension, suds-removal, electronics, aesthetic design, feet, shock-absorbers, cycle times, efficiency numbers, and cycle definitions.

I hope you all can get the machines you want (any brand) as soon as possible and that you enjoy the superior washing results of a front loader

Chris, would your advice to tash07 be to sit on Lowes, or to sit on Bosch? If she ordered way back in December and still has no machine, then someone should be moving her to the top of the delivery queue. (Unless this is a normal wait nowadays, in which case here on gardenweb we should probably be advising people to not buy the Bosch!) - DR

For what its worth I can tell you that our local retailer (Montana) had several pairs of the Nexxt 500 in stock when we bought our set three weeks ago. They were delivered the next day.

This is certainly NOT a "normal" wait. I know that there are some problems, but do not normally encounter waits as long as from Dec. to now. Since I'm not really an expert in logistics/customer service, I'm not certain who best to "sit" on. I would recommend a call to us (Bosch) but eventually I think the washer wll have to come from Lowe's.

Just following up, Lowes called today and said washer will be in on Tuesday, we scheduled delivery for next weekend-- we'll see... As far as getting pedestals-- according to Lowes...they are virtually out of stock with them and expect long wait as Bosch "can't meet the demand"... my choice is to get 20% off new pedestals and wait weeks, with unknown delivery or take floor models (with a couple dents on front drawer)-- they would sell to me for $100/ each... I don't know what to do and left the store with a headache...

Why do you want the pedestals at all? They aren't that useful for storage, and they raise the machines too high to use the tops as a work area. They save you a bit of stooping, but no more than standard American dryers. - DR

The 500 is still back-ordered forever, supposedly through Bosch even, or at least Bosch is telling Lowe's that.....but Lowe's came through after a bit of convincing...they are selling me the Nexxt 700 for the same price as the 500, a $300 savings, and still applying my 10% off coupon to that amount, and still offering the 12 mos no payments, no interest deal. So as long as that washer arrives ok this week, all will be well in the world!!

After carefully checking pedestal vs. non-pedestal Bosch floor models, we felt it would be easier to see into the tubs and they do save us from stooping so much. We're getting older and felt it would just be easier to load and unload. You are right, they don't offer much in way of storage and that is a drawback. We considered building a platform, but felt manufactured platforms give a more finished look.

Fair enough. I'm not a big fan of the Bosch pedestals - they are kind of flimsy, and people have had trouble with them for various reasons. I can see why someone might want them, but the have enough negatives that I wouldn't consider them a dealbreaker. If you don't plan to use them for storage, consider filling them with sand, to help damp vibrations. - DR

I just purchased the Nexxt 500 last week at Lowes in Spokane.
They phoned me today to tell me they were back ordered and
would not be able to get it in to there warehouse till The 26 or so. I told my salesman I needed it ASAP as my other washer was dead.
He phoned me back this afternoon said they were working on something and maybe by next week they would have it in stock.
God I hope they dont try and give me someones floor model

I wouldn't advise putting anything heavy like sand in the Bosch pedestal drawers. They're kind of flismy.

We have the pedestals and I'm not sorry we bought them. Although I can't say I would advise anyone else to get them.

It does help a lot with the bending over thing and that's good. We have switched to smaller containers of concentrated detergent, like Wisk and Method. Those bottles fit in the drawers very easily.

Also garage towels and other small stuff goes in there so it's not a total waste.

Still a great laundry set. 6 months later and I still help with the laundry. I wonder how much longer that will last ;)

Try the route I ended up going. Ask them to give you the 700 for the same price. If they are going to sell the 500, they should be able to deliver it, otherwise their salespeople should be informed not to sell it. Lowe's may not like it, but they are obliged to honor the customer's wishes. And the Bosch mark-up is supposedly huge, so even knocking 40% off the price, they are still making a profit.

Your 1st clue would be that they don't come off the delivery truck in boxes. But don't bother asking the delivery guy if they're new or floor models. I don't think they know. Mine certainly didn't. You should check if the controls are dirty, if the doors open/close easily, look for scratches, etc.

After my experience at Lowes I know you have be on your toes.

HOORAY! My new Bosch 550 set arrived as promised this morning! They are still in shrink wrap and sitting outside my laundryroom which is awaiting drywall. I am hopeful there will be no problems from this point on. I did get pedestals @ 30% off. So I am pretty happy and eager to play with my new toys. I even ordered Bio-Kleen detergent that I read so many positive reviews on this board in preparation... Now if I can only light a fire under my DH butt to hurry up!!
