Is Tide fading my kids clothing?
Comments (23)I had the same experience as Larsi with the Cheer for Darks liquid. I had crazy suds with it! Also with the Tide Vivid liquid. Tide Vivid powder works fine, and the Woolite for Darks liquid also works well. I'd love to give the Cheer HE powder a whirl but have not seen it in my area, including at Sam's Club. I have heard many times that Cheer powder is low sudsing, but hesitate to buy a box as I wonder if there's more to being an HE powder than low suds--isn't HE formulated to work well in less water? I love the Tide Vivid powder for my whites and dish towels, and I use Tide Total Care for nearly everything else. I don't care for the smell much, but it's not so strong that I can't ignore it. :-) I have a box of regular Ultra Tide powder for those times when I need some extra cleaning punch, but I know it's pretty aggressive stuff so I don't use it regularly on everything. Interesting link, Whirlpool Trainee. I may need to check that Tide Coldwater out, though I almost never wash in cold water. Cj...See MoreCheer he Liquid...SO many suds :(
Comments (19)Cavimum: "AND re: the froth/bubbles --- really, please explain as I would truly appreciate it. This FL uses so little water in the wash cycle that I never see a sudsy froth during the wash --- only the rinses." We have never owned a Miele washing machine, so I cannot address brand-specific quirks, if that is what is causing the rinse frothing. But our area has very soft water, so if rinse frothing is an issue anywhere, one would expect it to be a bigger issue here -- and it is not even a small issue here. FWIW, we use Biokleen All-Temperature liquid in our current Samsung WF419 front-loading machine. We use roughly half Biokleen's recommended dosage, but we add a scoop (about 1/3 cup) of 20 Mule Team borax to the mix as well. Among its other benefits, borax is known to act as a rinse aid. In the interests of science, I guess that I should try running a few loads without the borax and reporting back as to whether rinse frothing appeared, but we are happy with the way our laundry comes out, so are disinclined to make the science experiment. BTW, Biokleen is entirely vegetable based (mainly grapefruit seeds and orange extracts), so there never is any petroleum related odor associated with its use....See MoreNew Tide Total Care (Availble in Regular & HE!)
Comments (11)I use the Free and Sensitive Tide and it rinses fine for me. But then again I just have one of those "inferior" rinsing top loaders! :) I too use a minimal amount and I'm just fine with it. The hard part is this is the 2x and being used to using much more, it's easy to overdose. Measure carefully and you'll be fine. At least for P&G, Tide is their "premium" brand. It is higher priced than many of the others but many, including me, find it cleans better too. Then there's the SUPER premium price points like Persil... which is a no way for me. I buy laundry detergent for under about 7¢ a load. That's about my max price point. I find you can get good cleaning for that. I usually aim for about a nickel a load. justjustin, FYI, I noticed in the Sunday paper that Target and Kmart were both advertising 100 oz bottles of the Total Care if you're interested. I will express a frustration... Cutting the sizes down. What was a 32 load bottle now being 28, 26, 20 loads. Argh! I do like the smaller bottle for handling but I think they can concentrate it and put more loads in it. I'll stop my rant here and step down from my detergent, er, soap box....See MoreCheap and cheerful oddball dining room help
Comments (43)Thanks for the rug feedback! The colors turned out great, bright but vintagey feeling. Perfect for me. nosoccermom, I don't NEED all that furniture...but I kind of WANT all that furniture. Especially the freakin sweet coffee table. sueb, the main reason is that the main traffic path of the house cuts through by the table there. And kitchen stools back up to it. So it seems that ending the rug with the table kinda works? Also I have having a problem with getting enough rug in behind the chairs on the right without ending a rug right in the middle of the path from the laundry room to the kitchen. So it seemed to work to pull the rug all the way over to the wall on that side even though it's a bit oversized really. My house has no center hall or staircase, really no hallways at all, so all traffic goes through the rooms on either side. It's kind of confusing and people always get lost, which is impressive considering our main floor is less than 1000 square feet. My non-declawed cats destroy all upholstered things and most rugs, but they are cute. This post was edited by robotropolis on Thu, Apr 17, 14 at 14:33...See MoreCavimum
