One caveat...which is really a non-issue because EVERYONE who buys a Speed Queen does it. Government regs require that Speed Queen deliver their conventionally-designed machines with a fill-limiter that only "fills" the tub about 70% of actual full. Problem solved in about five minutes by removing three screws on the panel, tilting it forward, and adjusting a 1/4" limiter screw so that it fills all the way. Several youtube videos show how it's done. With zero previous experience, I accomplished this in minutes. Small deal, IMHO. After you do this, the tub will fill ALL the way when set to "full" but still allow smaller-fills by adjusting the panel-dial normally. I regard this gov't limit as quite ridiculous but that's what the manufacturer is saddled with. EVERYBODY who buys one of these machines does it. Otherwise, I would say the machine operates pretty much exactly like those Maytags of old except that 1) the tub is bigger 2) the agitation is better 3) the thing digests unbalanced spin-loads much better and 4) all rinses are tap-cold....no option for "warm" rinses.

Does anybody know hell well these machines hold up against rusting? My machines are in a basement and I notice that the area around the bleach dispenser looks like it is yellowing. I really don't use the dispenser much; but if this is an early sign;this is not good. I thought these machines had a special 3 coat protection ? Nothing beats a true porcelain coated top, providing it is applied correctly. If they wanted to.make these machines like the laundromat machines, it would be nice to have porcelain enamel tops.

I have the SQ TR7 I haven't noticed any clothing tearing going on whatsoever, but neither did I with a Maytag we had for 31 years (with 2 kids), nor with a Samjunk we had for 4 years (without the kids). While the Samjunk was just that, junk, it didn't tear clothes up, it just needed repairing every 8 months until the final repair was supposed to cost $600 to which we said no to. Samjunk dryers are not any good either, while ours only had one repair about 3 years ago, the motor now sounds rough, and now I have to turn the drum to make it run if the dryer has sat for more than a few hours. We are going to buy another SQ this weekend, but can't decide on the DR7 or the DC5. Samjunk fridges are so bad there is a massive class action lawsuit against them, so far no word on a settlement. Ours freezes up inside the fridge part, and I have manually defrost it about once every 3 months. I still have it, not sure what I'll get when it dies since SQ doesn't make fridges. It amazes me is that year after year Consumer Reports rates Samjunk as the highest quality??? Why hasn't CR bothered to check the class action lawsuits they had against the washing machines and the fridges?? Strange, makes me wonder if CR is getting a cut.

We bought the TC5 late last month and I love it so much! It replaced a GE front loader that was only 3 years old. I love doing laundry now - our clothes and towels are a lot softer and smell cleaner, even without using a detergent with any fragrance. It washes so quickly and things have just come out really clean. I love it and won't go back to anything else. We also got the 10yr warranty with it through the end of the year. The 2018 TR models got terrible reviews, I'd definitely stay away from those. For the TC5, if you have it on Normal Eco it only washes on cold and with less water. The other cycles use more water and any temp. We wash almost everything on the bulky cycle with warm water and it fills up about 3/4 with water. We've used the deep fill option a handful of times. I do about 8-10 loads or more a week. I recommend!
