At 20 days a laundry basket is needed to transport the puppies. They have outgrown the salad bowl.

Aren't they cute?

They 'live' in the store/furnace room just down the hall from my computer. They are starting to move about and make puppy noises. Grunting can be heard any time they are awake.

There's a couple of very vocal puppies who are big boobs; they whine a lot. Then there's two are downright mouthy and bark anytime you walk in the door, past the door and speak to them.

One very special little boy gets first pick out of the whole batch. His name is Sam and he's seven. His brother got a puppy from Gabby's first batch. Sam got a puppy from the last batch but sadly, it died. Now he wants another,

The fellow who owns Whiskers (the puppies daddy) lost a dog a few weeks ago. He has a pair of dogs who are full brother and sister to Tuffy. Whiskers is from those dogs. He will get his pick after Sam chooses.

So, since I have deposits for five puppies this means they all have homes...good homes I might add. I don't sell a puppy to just anyone!

I worried Gabby would have trouble raising seven puppies so I keep a bowl of puppy chow out for her all the time. She is also getting all the fat trimmings from my kitchen. Her weight is good and she's slick and shiny. The puppies, as you can see, are doing well too. Even so, I'm giving her a break her next heat cycle. Three batchs three heat in a row is enough for any dog, no matter their health. She is such a good little mother but she needs a break.

OMG! The one in the last pic...on the right in the picture....I hope Sam picks that one! It looks like it's going to be super hairy like Tuffy.That's the one I would take if I "needed" another dog...which I don't....I really don't...nope,don't need another dog....no more dogs....LOL!

I knew what you meant, but would have probably gone back and corrected it had I typed it too! I do feel lucky to have her... and insane. Izzy has been an exceptional nanny. Jaz isn't feeling too well these days, but when she does feel up to interacting, she's enjoyed the pup too. Here's a short video of Izzy and Tullie shredding rope toys in the back yard earlier today. Do either of you grow the above mentioned plants? If yes, would love to hear the details and maybe pics of blooms. A couple of comments: Neither plant was wild collected to my knowledge. Both were obtained from friends frustrated with the no bloom thing. I think they would have been compost had I not taken them. Keikis - Yup, have a couple of these on each plant. Does this signify the imminent demise of a plant? It might if the plant is obviously croaking. It's also my understanding some plants do this as a matter of fact - another way of reproducing. I seem to remember past discussions about Dend kingianum and how some plants are keiki machines even when grown well. My biggest keiki producer is Den hercoglossum. It came from Oak Hill with a tons of them and has continued to produce them along with flowers and new growth over the past 2-3 years. It appears to be a very happy plant. Now it gets tricky when one says all Pleuros come from cloud forest regions of the earth. They don't. Probably the vast majority do grow there, but they also grow in tropical regions as well as some temperate ones. Did you know there is at least one species native to Florida? Pleuro gelida grows there. Wouldn't call that a cloud forest region. Back to the plants in question: It's been a while since I've done much research on the velaticaulis and never did find much that helped me all that much. I have done more on restrepioides, but haven't sorted everything out yet. For one thing, it's natural distribution is huge - Columbia, Peru and Ecuador at elevations from 3200 to over 9000 feet. There's a big temperature variation at those elevations. To make things even more confusing, many things influence temperature in those areas. It's been very difficult finding any info about what the specific temps are in the areas where this plant grows. For instance, I did find the following about temps at 9200 in Ecuador: The highest temperatures are in Aug - Sept when they approach 72 F. The balance of the year the temps are generally in the low 60's. June and July are the coldest when the highs are in the 40's. Does this apply to all regions of Ecuador at 9200 feet? I don't know. Are the temps where restep. grows at 9100 feet like this? I don't know. See the problem? In any case, I think it's wrong to say the temps for all Pleuros are going to be in such-a-such range. They aren't. Clearly some grow much warmer and some grow much colder with variances between seasons. That's what I'm trying to figure out. I noticed that SBOE says they grow this one outside. I don't think of Santa Barbara, CA as having cloud forest conditions. It's also my understanding temps can get quite chilly (by orchid standards) during winter. Lastly: When I started a thread about this plant some years ago, the only person I can remember who successfully bloomed it lived in Canada and clearly stated he kept this one outside until temps dropped into the 30s F. Thank you for the responses....Mazer, I have trained the first 2 dogs in the manner that you recommend and it was very successful. This new little one is for my 12 yr old and she keeps her in her room with her at night and this is when the puppy pads came in. Kaitlyn gets up with her pup at night to let her potty but she will not take her outside because she is afraid so we got the pads to help the child train her pup not realizing that it would create this problem. Also, our older dog Jenna, the golden, has taken over the mother role and I think that is is also counter productive to training because the pup looks up to her as her mother. Just this morning I gave Jenna a treat and she turned around and gave it to the puppy like she was providing for her. I think that we will need to start taking the pup outside without the older dog and see if we better results...also not being able to do the stairs is a proble. My husband said that he is going to put a ramp down the stairs (only 2 steps) and see if she will use that. She is a spunky little thing with quite the character and very smart and so far we have not seen any sign that she is afraid of anything.....it is almost as though she is looking at the golden for reasurance...if Jenna doesn't react to the situation then I shouldn't either, and Jenna doesn't react to much..not even loud noises or thunder storms, she is very relaxed. I will suggest to my husband that he remove the pads from the main floor and take Mollie outside without Jenna and see how that goes. thank you

OT - For those who use spray paint in a can

linelle - Painting the DW was pretty painless. DH removed the door panel, which also has the sides on it on my KA model, and I took it out back and scrubbed it with soapy water, rinsed well and let dry. Then, I lightly scuffed with fine grit sandpaper like 180 or 220 and wiped down with a dry, lint free cloth. Sprayed first coat and let dry, then sprayed second coat and let dry. DH put the panel back on and you can see the result below. As I said though, I want to try and see if I can paint the plastic part at the top with that Krylon paint that fuses with plastic so it won't wear off. The door latch is in that part (obviously) and gets touched a lot so I want something that will last. The appliance epoxy I used was a Rustoleum product. It looks so much better painted than the white is used to be, but not nearly as nice as an actual SS DW will when I can afford it. I'm planning to paint my fridge also with the same paint at some point as it is all white too. Much bigger job than just the DW door panel, however. Before: After with partial backsplash install.

Ern is very relieve they all have homes. He can be so negative some times. He made a comment we probably wouldn't be able to sell them all and it ticked me off so I told him just for not having any faith in me or my dogs I would KEEP any I couldn't sell. I think I scared him. He hasn't said anything since. He knows a threat/promise when he hears one...LOL

All of them will be hairy; some more than others.
My favorite is in the first picture with her mouth open.
Note: she is NOT yawning. She is complaining. Not crying, as in 'I want my mommy' but griping, as in 'I don't think I like this....'
