Skinceuticals Phloretin CF - Review/Update

This is a follow up to our discussing Phloretin CF on the "how old am I thread." I ordered online ($109) and have been using about two weeks. I didn't think I would have anything to report in such a short time span, but I am happy to be wrong. lol DH has been using it too. Why not?! ;D I asked him today if he could tell a difference with his skin and he said some fine red (vein) lines on his cheeks are now gone. I'd have to give it an A+. My skin tones are even and the redness on/around my nose (beginning of Rosacea) and the few broken veins I had next to nose are all but gone - one to go!

We are using "5 drops" as directed after washing face at night. It goes a looong way! 5 drops not only does my face, but neck and upper chest. I am going to start putting 1 drop on the top of my hands at night too. I can see why DD1 would like to bathe in it!

My upper chest is looking better - was kinda splotchy, to me anyway, and starting to look "old." I was going to ask my surgeon what treatments they do in his office at my check-up this week, but not now!

I have not found it to be drying (as discussed in other thread) and neither has DH. I would say I have normal skin with some very slightly oily T areas in the hot summer. I was a tad worried about it causing acne but it hasn't.

A bottle would last one person several months. Probably three. I haven't looked at ours closely, but will tomorrow. I do know it's at least half full.

Hi Terri - The recipe I use is one tsp. vitamin c crystals, three tsp. water (they say to use distilled but I always forget to buy it and use plain tap water) and one tsp. glycerine. The only thing is, I have a hard time getting the crystals to completely dissolve. I read if you add a drop of vodka, or even rubbing alcohol, that helps the crystals dissolve. I used gin (tanqueray!) and it worked great in dissolving them. There are many variations of this recipe online, with some using a higher ratio of vitamin c and others using a lower ratio, so I think you can really play around with it and see what works best for you. If you have a amber or dark colored bottle with a dropper to store it in that is best. I use my old Cellex-C bottle. Exposure to light will speed up oxidation.

Tina, I guess "esthiologist" is just the newfangled way of saying "esthetician." Or maybe it means she has a PhD in "esthiology," lol! I guess I knew better because my skin is sensitive too. I had to build up to the retinol as well and that wasn't a problem. It doesn't really itch, just feels tight. My doctor told me not to use anything except aloe vera. He just doesn't want me to use anything petroleum based. I got a prescription for Medrol which is a steroid. Not sure if it's helping my face any but my arthritis and allergies feel pretty great! I've posted about it here before. DD1 worked for a lady dermatologist, and said she would soak in it if she could afford to. At almost 28yo, I'm sure she needs too! ;) It says to use 5 drops a night, after I wash my face. DH uses it too. I use it on my face and neck, then rub whatever is left (yes, left) on my upper chest. Sometimes I use 6 drops to make sure it gets more. lol My skin feels softer and looks better. More even, no blotchy places. I only have two small age spots (just under hairline on forehead and next to one ear). I don't see if fading those at all... but don't think it makes that claim. Can't recall. I got lazy a month ago and probably didn't use for a week, and feel like a could tell a difference. So religiously I will use. Well, I guess I don't get to guess anyone's age since it has all been revealed. Allison - WOW! I so want the name of your surgeon since Im in TN, so could easily make a trip to AL. My3dogs, yes, that is the size. I believe the 1 oz and travel is all it comes in.

I see that seller has a high rating, and he has in stock sealed and unsealed bottles of this product. Some things I don't mind buy on ebay (got great deals on diabetic testing strips when I had a diabetic cat I home tested) but there are a lot of nuts in this world. Getting off my "mama" box now. ;D

This is a company from which I've ordered for probably about 2 years now...I use the CE Ferulic, but I've linked to the product that's parallel to the one you're describing. The CE Ferulic works for me and you save money...

I bought the trial size the other week but still haven't used it. It's a much larger bottle than I expected.

Allison - I'm glad it's working for you guys. How did it improve your daughter's skin?

Where did you order the trial size from Shee? My skin leans toward the dry side - do any of you think it will be too drying?

Tina, I ordered through Amazon. Sueb on the other thread suggested it. I don't remember if I typed sample or trial. I wanted to test it on my skin before I bought a full size. With shipping it was around $20.00.

Sheesharee, she had redness or (as she called it) splotchy skin. She said it's evened out her skin. She's 27yo, but when she was here in Aug for DD2s wedding many who had never met her thought she was younger (DD2 is 22yo). Her skin looks softer too. I told her it reminded me of a baby's butt. ;)

After just spending almost a $100 on a tub of Estee Lauder face cream (which I do like), I might order the trial from Amazon.

This would be funny if not so sad. A couple of months ago I decided to take a picture of myself for my Facebook profile picture.

I was home alone, I got all dolled up with makeup. I "struck the pose" about 50 times.

After downloading it on the computer, I could NOT believe I have those little red vein thingys! Why didn't anyone tell me? LOL. Guess I should start wearing my glasses when putting my makeup on. :)

Allions - I'm glad to hear your daughter has actually seen great results on her skin being young. I'm starting to notice my pores seem bigger. I'm hoping this will maybe help that.

Did you guys see this lady on the website after using CE Ferulic for a long time? Pretty cool.

Finally tried this stuff and wish I hadn't.

I have a "poison ivy" like rash and blisters all over my face and I'm terribly swollen. I'm highly allergic to urushiol oil which is on mango skin and poison ivy/oak/sumac.

Since phloretin is plant derived I'm thinking it's the culprit.
