Has anyone taken a class here or know someone who has?
Comments (17)It is always a treat to hear David speak whether on horticultural topics or anything else for that matter. The first time I met Senor Bahia was when he was doing a slide show talk for the Succulent and Bromeliad Society at the Strybing Arboretum. He was showing gorgeous slides of places that he has traveled to that were jammed packed with 'succulent' horticultural treats. I have since heard him speak at various horticultural events sponsored thru the California Hort Society, On the various Hortisexuals tours and events , at the Arboretum and in writing here on The GardenWeb. He is an excellent speaker and when using slides to illustrate a point , they are beautifully composed and in perfect focus. He is considered "The" Horticulturist's Horticulturist. While on the last Hortisexual trip down to L.A., he was the most sought after person in our wild and crazy group for horticultural identification. And that says a lot considering whose who in that group.. ( some of the most knowledgable and talented horticulturists on both the east and west coast ) >>>> ( as a matter of fact Cady, I think you will be speaking with one of the east coast editorial Hortisexuals soon ) ,, good luck ! we'll put a good word for you....See MoreHave You Ever Taken an Upholstery Class?
Comments (14)My upholstery started years ago when first married and little money for furniture. Found a chair in an alley behind a furniture store. Just jumped in and paid attention to how all was put together as I disassembled it. It was like working on a puzzle for me. This was also when there were large warehouses of fabric for next to nothing in price. Actually sold the chair not long after and was hooked. A good class will give you some basics to start from, but not sure how much info with such a simple project. There are so many resources now to share tips and tricks. I agree in taking the chance in using the online instructions. Even if the first project isn't perfect, the learning involved will move you quickly for being skilled. Taking all apart is the hard part, my personal feeling. And it is boring. Something not mentioned much for upholstery fabrics is a walking foot for sewing. I couldn't do without it and has lasted for over 30 years. It walks the fabric through and adjusts itself to the thickness or layers. Keeps your stitches in line and at the right pull. I also use a leather sewing machine needle on really heavy fabrics or multiple layers....See MoreHas anyone heard of using left over cooking oil on citrus plants?
Comments (99)If you have problems with an iphone, you can go on line and learn a lot from their tutorials. For me to use it just for web browsing it is not a big deal. If you buy a $ 900.00 unit, it is overkill for the purpose of doing basic stuff, there are cheaper ways . I use an old desktop with window 7 pro and a couple of programs for uses like Gardenweb and other progams, got a nice 24" screen to go along with. When friends show nice pictures of their efforts it show up nice with my set-up. For me it does your pictures no justice to watch it on a dinky screen, Forgive me for being such a lousy pita....See MoreHas anyone taken Cefdinir antibiotic?
Comments (57)Raee, yeah I'm kind of surprised they were just like "it's not a clot, here's some toradol" but I'm going to follow up with my primary and hopefully she can help me figure out where it came from. Wouldn't the CT scan see if it was a PE or pneumonia? They also took a chest x-ray. I had a slight cold about 2 weeks ago with a bit of a cough that I tried to suppress because it was so painful in my abdomen/pelvic area. Maybe it formed because I wasn't coughing properly? I'm also wondering if I developed OHSS from the IVF which I've read can sometimes cause pleurisy. The timeline makes sense as I slept uptight in a recliner for most of my recovery and just switched to my bed a few days before the pain started. Maybe the fluid reached my lungs. Now that I think about it, there were some warning signs before this pain. I've had a harder time recovering after climbing my stairs, and a few days ago I woke up with sharp collarbone pain when I inhaled (on the same side as the rib pain) but didn't think much of it as it went away the next day. The good news is that it seems to be improving so I am really hoping it's nothing serious. I don't have a cough at all and the pain is very minimal and only when I breathe as deeply as I can....See MoreCathyChex
