I've ordered the 27" 500 because I prefer the controls - knobs instead of all touch controls, which I hate.

I have a 500 sitting on my island, waiting for countertops to be installed in 2 weeks. I didn't know I was so lucky to have one! I picked it out in August, before we started demolition. I didn't get the impression that it was difficult to secure. I was under the impression that the only big difference was the Auto Chef program. I'd never it figure out, but it might be handy for someone who has the patience to read manuals and follow directions. It is very attractive. It will be my first experience with induction, but I will post more when it is installed. Stephanie

Oh my lordie we have started our cottage renovations and it is an enormous undertaking and taking it right back down to the joists. My biggest challenge is respecting that this is a cottage budget and I cannot replicate our home kitchen out at our cottage but that one day this will become our retirement home. My obsessive web crawling and consumer review mparisons only adds another layer of complexity in decision process Here is where we have ended up thus far Already Purchased Fridge Samsung RF4287HARS for 1899.00 DW Bosch SHV68R53UC for $ 1079.99 Range Hood Sirius 36" SU5 90SS 600 FM (owned one for 11 years and absolutely love it) for # 754.94 Where I have ended up thus far appliance wise is as follows and seeking your thoughts based on your personal experiences specific to 30" Wall Oven and matching 30" Warming Drawer and LP Cooktop that will be 36" For purchasing I am leaning towards the below and truly appreciate your thoughts. The only matching I need to watch for is between Single Oven and Warming Drawer as distance between will not create issues between SS look 36" Cooktop Capital Maestro for $ 1393.00 - have no experience with this brand as presently using DCS and love it. We use high burner all of the time and I like what I am reading thus far but do not know if anyone has had any type of issues with Capital 30" Single Wall Oven - KA Architect II KEBS109B for $ 2114.10 have never owned KA and presently own Dacor and no affinity to stay with the brand 30" Matching Warming Drawer / possible will use panel here instead of SS - KA Architect II KEWS105B for $ 1079.00. I am bothered that everywhere I have checked there are no timers to auto shut off and last thing I need to do is leave the cottage and drive back to different state with out someone turning it off Also I need to find an "affordable/dependable" undercounter wine fridge that the price is reasonable that will be in our island. I want drain as the power can cut off in winter there for over a week and need it to be able to drain and not all over our hardwood floors I lived and died by this site when we built our house 11 years ago and truly look forward to your thoughts everyone

Thank you again to everyone who has chimed in! (And it is just so darn cool to hear from many of you illustrious GW-ers whose posts and kitchen we have read about and inspired by while we are in the process of designing and renovating our kitchen!) OK, so here's the skinny on our last ditch effort last night. We spent 2 hours, or maybe more, lowering down the legs and leveling the DW. We managed, we thought, to lower the unit by at least 3/16" to 1/4". We put shellac on the exposed bare wood and plywood parts above the unit. We also taped up a foil tape covering the exposed plywood subcountertop, the maple crosspiece, and most of the bottom part of the marble edge. We discovered: (1) When we drill the unit back up to the maple crosspiece, all that 3/16" - 1/4"minute space we gained was barely there at all! We wonder whether by tightening the unit to the wood under the countertop we have raised the unit back up. We un-attached the unit, which by this time is out of level again (huh?), releveled the unit, confirmed that we indeed have more spacing than before by sticking our index finger in the space and it felt looser. Attached the unit, and what do you know, tight again. (2) Putting the foil tape didn't stop the condensation. But, it probably protect the wood and plywood. So, we are going to return the GE monogram DW. Other than the condensation issue, this unit has pretty much everything I have listed on my DW wishlist (and we got it with $1000 rebate, ending up to be $399. A really great deal!) In any case, I hope that the replacement DW will solve this issue. We think we'll go with the Miele G5505SCSS unit although the controls on the front don't go as well with our kitchen vision as the Bosch 800 Plus, KA KUDE70or Jennair JDB8700 units would be. A part of me is also angling for the Jenn Air JDB8700 because I like the look of it best. It also has everything in my DW wishlist, except for the Miele reputation.
