They are back in Lexington VA and wow...he is making charcuterie in every spare moment.DIL is doing the desserts and watching grandbaby. They are a busy couple ! Here are two reviews from Trip Advisor in the past 2 days...5*...Maple Hall 1850..check it out if you are in the area. ( proud Mama..please excuse :) )

Had dinner with friends on Saturday night...It was our first visit!
Two of us ordered the pork loin with savory sausage and cheese bread pudding...WOW!!! Perfect use of herbs and spices! The pork was fantastic!
My husband ordered the duck breast...I think he actually licked his plate!
The atmosphere was just lovely and we had good, friendly service! We will be back again!
So happy to see this magnificent property being used once again! A+

Oh! And the dessert!!! Delicious!

We stayed at the beautiful Maple Hall Inn for the first time last weekend while visiting Lexington. Our visit was absolutely perfect with so much warm, welcoming hospitality. Our room was delightfully clean and spacious and we enjoyed a peaceful fall evening sipping complimentary hot cocoa by the glow of the fire in our own fireplace. What a romantic and peaceful evening it was. The breakfast the following morning was a Southern feast fit for royalty. We enjoyed the hearty meal before sadly packing up to depart on the crisp fall morning. We definitely would love to stay here again!

I can't say I have had the same situation exactly. I have 2 step sons(11 and 13) and then I have a 10 month old son. While the 11 and especially the 13 greatly annoy me at times(in fact I just posted on this), I would never even consider compromising their well being for the little one! I do admit that the relationship with the 2 step sons is definitely not the same as the relationship I have with my biological son. I didn't have the 2 older boys as babies and never got to hold and cuddle them like I do my own. But for your husband to treat them as if they are now in the way or in anyway cramping his style is really just wrong anyway you look at it. Something I try to be mindful of and you might bring up to your husband is the relationship between your older 2 boys and the little one. If he has a strained and difficult relationship with your older boys, how is that going to affect how they feel about their little sister? If your husband has changed the way he treats the boys because of the new baby he could be causing more issues than just a strain in his relationship with them. Does he really want to cause the older boys to resent her because he treated her better than he treats them? I am having issues with my oldest just getting on my nerves, but I take the responsibility for trying to fix the situation. I don't see how the solution could ever be to get the older 2 out of the house!!!Hope I didn't ramble on too much!!! Good luck with your situation.

I think dark paint will take the whole look up a style notch. It looks nice now, but honestly, a teeny bit yawn worthy - don't hate me! And you know I am normally off the black paint bandwagon - too predictable, too dust highlighting, so I think charcoal will be tres chic. However..... painting the fan spindles will be a royal PITA unless you spray. You're gonna think I'm nuts, but I'd tape off everything but the fan spindles and spray them - in charcoal if you can find it, but black if not - and then paint the rest of the chair charcoal. Bring them over here on a crisp day and we'll do it together!

Congratulations. I always find it so interesting what this younger generation pick for careers. I remember my daughter, who worked for Deloitte and Touce at the time relating the topic of one of their after hours chats. One fellow commented that his mother has no idea of what it is that he does to earn his living. Eveyone else chimed in to agree. We know where they work, but we don't know what it is that they do to fill their work day--and nights and weekends too.

funnygirl...it is a lot of acreage and they have so many plans...will take a few years but the owner is wonderful and patient so it should work out well. Thank you !

thank you jt and bl....I have always told the kids that I would probably embarrass them but that I couldn't stop myself from telling them and others how great they are....I don't think any of us can ever hear too much good about ourselves.

So happy to read this wonderful report on your DS and family! I know that area well. The drive from Roanoke to Lexington is so gorgeous. If your children can't be close by, then pray that they live in a beautiful place to visit.
You scored big time! I attended a wedding brunch there years ago. It was charming then. Would love to revisit.

Hey Marti...thank you for your post. The drive is indeed beautiful. Do you mean you have been to Maple Hall? What a great coincidence!! I hope you get to re-visit. I will take some pics when I am next up there. Hopefully the kids will be getting into the house they are hoping to purchase..paperwork is taking forever ! c

Thank you mnt ! Yes they both do work very hard but as you say they are getting really nice response from both their employer and the customers so it is indeed rewarding. Maybe you will be in the area someday...great place to take your kids..lots to see and do and hiking, cycling and of course just visiting the campuses with all their history. c

Thank you just and lynn. At present the facebook is the more up to date area to check . They have an ongoing problem with the web page designer...sigh...they are trying to work it out. Thank you for posting. He changes the menu on a nightly basis for the specials. c
