giving you a life update

Hi just wanted to check in and give you all an update on my life.

I am starting my third sememster which is med surg 2 and ob and peds..... After this semester in may, I can sit for my LPN boards which I will do. Then I have 2 more semesters and should have my RN in Dec.

Things are hard, I am still seperated and I do have my days and moments. But I am learning how to be strong and stand on my own 2 feet now, thats not something I am used to and its very difficult,especially finacially.

I am dating a very nice man, he isn't 100% my type in looks, but wow he is sweet romantic and into me. We went out for dinner last nite for the first time and it took us 30 mins to order cause we were talking, He fed me half his dinner, was very attentive, pulled my chair out for me, put my coat on, paid for dinner, opened my car door, closed it, we went to his house to watch movies and ended up talking most of the night, it was very very nice..

but anyways, just wanted to check in with yall.....

Melanie, looks aren't all that important. Don't make them too important. Sounds like a promising beginning.

Your right, looks are not that important, he is not bad looking, just not what i normally go for, but I have decided to focus on how he treats me and when he texts me or calls me or I think of him I have a huge smile on my face that means something. He is so sweet, dam lol. His dad is really nice, as soon as I walked into his house, his dad lives there (getting a divorce) His dad said "boy you are right she is more gorgeous in person" I thought that was so sweet. my friend kept telling me all night how beautiful he thought I was, I am not used to hearing that its very nice. He is affectionate which i like and he keeps telling me he has a lot of love built up to give the right woman. So we will see where it goes

Key limes can be finicky and ours produced tons of fruit sevral times during the year but it would produce well one year and then take a year off and come back strong the next year. Our Meyers lemon took over the yard and we had so many lemons it was not funny. The Hamlin produced well one year little the next and tons the next. The Valencia and Ruby Reds produced tons yearly. The sour orange produced well year after year. The honey tangerine took forever to fruit but when it began fruiting it produced yearly. It took time for some of them to mature and then you just have to learn your trees and know their cycle. Some of ours just fruited heavily and then rested the next year. We always had fruit though and it was so nice to walk outside and pick a fresh grapefruit for breakfast or oranges to make orange juice and lemons or limes whenever you needed them. Now I am attempting to grow citrus in containers and it is taking time but things will pay off down the road. Linda

I think it depends on where you are going to use it. I wouldn't use it on beds of edible plants when it is that new because of its reputed ability to tie up nitrogen as it decomposes, but you could put it in pathways or on beds of ornamentals. When I use bark mulch around edible plants, I usually put down some sort of barrier between the mulch and the plants--often it is thick cardboard or a good-quality woven cloth landscape fabric. My favorite way, though, is just to put down an inch of compost on top of the soil and then put the bark on top of it. I've never had an issue with any plants looking nitrogen deprived when I've used bark mulch that way. Our chipper/shredder mostly sits in the garage because we never have time to drag it out and use it, but once Tim retires in a few more years, we're going to go on a cleaning-up-the-woods rampage and clean up 10 acres of deadfall. Right now, unless the deadfall branches and trees happen to fall into a pathway, we leave it alone and let it decompose on the ground. I haven't told him about the mulch-making binge I'm planning for his retirement years. If he knew about it, he might postpone retirement a few more years. Dawn

That sounds heavenly, Melissa! I can picture it all through your sensitive and vivid descriptions. I, too, find that Alfred de Dalmas takes awhile to grow into his charming potential, but when he does, each year just gets better. I'm curious to hear future reports on your Aennchen von Tharau. What is its origin? If your AvT turns out to be R Alba Maxima, wonder if every AvT is R Alba Maxima. I grow Maxima and have considered tracking down AvT for either my garden or a friend's. How long have you known him? And your not divorced yet? Be careful. Sometimes guys look for venerable women. Just a heads up. I hope I'm wrong. I'm glad your doing well in school.

congrat on being so close to the "brass ring" in the job catagory... that should be your #1 thing to finish but is's fun to have a person you can date and enjoy movies with...slow and easy!

Melanie, I remember when I first met DH, I thought he was old, and wasn't sure about his looks..................but, 35 years later, we're still together, and I think he is most handsome! Who knew? Good luck with your new life. You're gonna make it!

Oh, Melanie, I know how seductive those comments can be! Keep your fences tight, girl, until and unless you KNOW there's something worthwhile behind them. Why is his father getting divorced? He sounds like a charming rascal, and the son may be following in his father's footsteps. On the other hand, both may be completely sincere. Wait and see, dear, please.

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt and cut it up into dustrags.

Hi Melanie! Thanks for the update! I like it when you fill us in on what you've been up to, because you're one of the few KT members I've actually met.

I'm so glad you're finally getting close to your career goal. That's been a long haul, and you are to be commended on your progress. You really have come a long way.

I agree with what's been said here. Have fun with this new guy, but keep some space between you two until you get a lot further along in your career, and until you know him a whole lot better. This is not the time to go "off track". I agree his dad sounds like a charmer, and that always makes me suspicious. That's just me, though.

I just want you to succeed, have fun doing it; and not get hurt.

Thank you all, I am not sure why his dad is getting divorced, I know this new guy is sweet but yes I am taking my time, We have both been hurt badly in the past and we don't want to repeat that. I am still married, but my husband and I have been seperated and both have agreed to see other people, he is dating as well, we are on good speaking terms, This new guy is different, I can't explain it, I have been dating since I have been seperated and somethings different about him, but yes I am being very cautious, he knows school is important, I have come way to far in school to let anything destroy that and I wont.. I will check back in soon

You can tell me MYOB, but why are you not divorced? That and your schooling needs to be your #1 priority now.

He may be the same kind of charmer his dad is. Take care.

I have to have my own space. I wouldn't want a guy to feed me half his supper. Some may think it's romantic, but for me it would be a major turn-off.

I am happy for you, but please keep seeing others, too.

I am not divorced yet because of money It costs alot in SC to get divorced and I am trying to pay my schooling and my own bills since I dont have my husbands income, plus my husband and I are on speaking terms and do get along right now so a divorce isnt a major issue to me at the moment, I can't see myself getting married again anytime soon or ever for that matter so it just isnt a priority.

I have never had someone feed me dinner I did like it,I liked the attention maybe because for the first time someone put me first, I have never had that, but anyways, back to studying my butt off ,this semester is gonna kill me lol
