I would call the office instead of an email. It's not something I would do myself. I was taught that peroxide will destroy good tissue, to use it once to clean an open wound, then use alcohol after that to clean the wound as it heals. If you are having a problem with bad breath there is an underlying health issue causing it. At least in my uneducated opinion.

I posted here a few years ago that I use peroxide for brushing my teeth and someone responded that I was going to die of cancer! LOL
Been using it for most of my 50+ years and I'm still here.

I have heard you can use it to whiten teeth, but I had to search it out...........

I think you need to speak one-on-one with a dental professional. Once, when I flinched during a dental procedure, causing my dentist to (sorry, know this is gross) to drill accidentally drill into the skin below my tongue, my dentist told me to rinse my mouth with a 50/50 solution of peroxide and water several times a day until it was healed--but that was for a limited time--a few days.

Hope youre diluting the peroxide, at least. But hold off on using it daily until you get the okay from a dentist. And please, find out what is causing your bad breath--if you're still having a problem after all the brushing, flossing and rinsing you're doing, it's probably NOT a mouth issue, but a digestive tract one. Do you have a condition like IBS perhaps? Or severe allergies? Both can cause bad breath that won't be helped that much by mouth rinses.

The best dentist I ever had recommended brushing with baking soda and peroxide--not for tooth whitening, but to kill bacteria. He also advised my family to use a water pik.

I very occasionally use it (for brushing) but I do oil pulling with coconut oil for whitening my teeth. Works great and no concerns about it being too hard on my teeth.

I alternate with baking soda, too. Love the way it makes my teeth feel afterward.

It sounds like you are putting alot in your mouth and I would suggest either talking to your Doctor or Dentist. Many mouth washes recommend only once every 12 hours or once a day. I use a special mouth wash about once a week I get from the dentist and then a regular one once a day per dentist instructions. Bad breath probably is coming from something else your Dr. could help you with. Just my experiences.

I don't know about the hydrogen peroxide and if it could lighten tooth color, but my dentist and his hygienists recommend a long swish/rinse with listerine after each brushing for oral health, plaque prevention, better gums.
They've suggested the blue, or citrus formulas over the original product that both smelled and tasted so harsh.

I once made tooth paste out of salt, baking soda and peroxide. (Saw the recipe in a newspaper.) The salt was way too abrasive, cut my gums and made them bleed and the peroxide made a huge amount of foam,gross and I never tried it again. I was drooling like a rabid dog!

We use Arm & Hammer toothpaste with baking soda and peroxide in it, reccomended by DH's dentist. My DH also uses a water pik daily with baking soda and peroxide mixed with the water~~~non of this is done for whitening, just reccommended by his dentist for his dental health. My DH has done this for years~~~~

I have very thin enamel on my teeth, so I can't use those whitening agents.

I've always been told to use Listerine after brushing and flossing, but to use the original, which has alcohol, and they said was far more effective than the other flavored ones and the one without the alcohol at killing bacteria.

I have a custom made tray for whitening my teeth. I used to get the whitening solution from the dentist but found I could buy it on Amazon for much less. One time I ordered the extra strength variety and left it on for about an hour. I almost flipped when I took off the tray and looked in the mirror. I had bleached my gums in front totally white! Fortunately the pink color came back in about 20 minutes but I was afraid I would have to walk around looking like that.

The whitening agent has peroxide in it. I use something called Opalescence. The extra strength is 35% peroxide. I don't think it's a good idea to use straight peroxide on your teeth for any length of time. Swooshing is okay. I remember that some people use it to treat gum disease, a cause of bad breath.

Before I whiten my teeth I brush them with baking soda to get them extra clean. Another good time to whiten is right after they have been cleaned. For me, baking soda is too abrasive for every day use. My dentist does not recommend it. He does recommend rinsing with Listerine.

I use hydrogen peroxide every night after I brush my teeth. I hold it in my mouth until the bubbles make it hard to keep my mouth closed then spit it out. I've done it for years. My teeth are white and my mouth is happy.

I have been checked out for alternative reasons for bad breath. Nothing so far. I think sometimes it's because I go too long without drinking water.

Cookie8. You have peaked my interest about the oil pulling. I use coconut oil for hair/skin and cooking. Being all natural I can see no reason not to try it.

I think I am going to continue with hydrogen peroxide but scale back to once a day. Hopefully I can find a good solution.
