I like the Starfrit or any model designed for folk with painful hands. My Mom could only use good ones like that. I stopped using those little metal side turning ones centuries ago.

I've used a Kuhn can opener for years. It's the kind that uncrimps the lid, lifting it off without any sharp edges on the lid or the can.

Both DD's have the Pampered Chef. That opens with no sharp edges I think?
It confuzzles the heck out of me when I try to use it at their house! LOL
I have the cheapie Swing Away can opener and it is older than dirt! LOL I can't even tell you how old it is.

I have a Kitchenaid that is very easy to use. In fact, so easy that I got rid of my electric when I got the Kitchenaid.

I agree with Kris, Kitchenaid. I have RA and it is centered in my hands, but even so I can use mine without issues.

I have a Swing Away too and have had it for years! Just as good now as it was the day I bought it!

Swing Away - the only way to go

Yep, Swing Away.....I have arthritic hands, but there's no problem with this one.

A vote for pampered chef - love it.

Mine is at leaset 15 years old though. I've had a hard time finding one as good as mine. some of the new ones don't stay in the channel and cut. I hope to find another one soon. My old one is still working great though. I guess I need to look for it in a more expensive place and not the local convenience store, spend more than 2.50! lol
seriously though, it's the best one ever!

I've always had a Swing Away, and have always been happy with them. (I think I've had to buy only two over the past 40+ years.)

OXO makes a can opener too. I have one. It's good.

I like the Swing-A-Way, too, but definitely get the well padded one (rubberized, perhaps?) for comfort.

Looks to me, like the swing away has the most recommendations. WOW.

Kat, I have one of the little metal ones like yours "in storage", like most of my stuff.

Here, at this house, the potato peeler and the can opener both suck.

I was in my storage unit today, and there is no way to get to the kitchen gadgets. They are way to far in.

Soo, a shopping I will go.

Thanks ladies.

I have an OXO good grips....love it!

Another Kitchen Aid vote. Serves my arthritis very well.

I have the Swing-A-Way that I got as a wedding gift 57 years ago. I have had no problem with it.

Kitchen Aid here, too. Easy open with my arthy hands...

I have the Chefmate and it's the best I've ever had. It's available in a variety of names. I could open cans with it with two broken shoulders. It is so smooth you think it's not working until you get all the way around. And it's one of those that unseals rather than cuts. I like putting the top back on when using for a grease can or putting 1/2 a can back in the frig. Was cheap too. Bought it at Kmart or Target or something like that.

I also had one of the as seen on TV "safety" can openers but that needed a lot of strength to use. Worked well, but I sure wouldn't have been able to use it when I was injured. I have Swing a way too, but the Chefmate is so much easier and doesn't have the dig the top out "feature" that the SAW has.

OXO Good Grips Smooth Edge Can Opener

I love mine! It's easy to turn and you never have to worry about sharp edges on a lid. I thought it was a splurge when my daughter bought it for me, but it is well worth the money (about $18)
