flood - a lot of what I have left to plant out are perennials, which I'll probably put in gallon pots to grow on and winter over. Thanks, proudgm! No, I didn't WS the fern - got it from Bluestone in 2004. Don't know the first thing about propagating spores and such ... The first pic at the top of this thread is the eastern end of my terrace, and was taken around 9:00 in the morning; you can see that it gets pretty good morning sun. The second pic is the western end and was taken around noon - full sun against the railing from about 11:00 or so. So, my veggies and as many sun-lovers as can fit go against the railing. Shade and part-sun plants go against the building wall. Works out pretty well. PV

Clinking with my herbal tea! Happy TGIF, everybody! Hang in there, Stacie. Susie, don't work too hard packing those dishes! Hope Will enjoyed DC. gbsim, I'm envious of your horses. I owned two as a kid but they don't fit into my lifestyle anymore. :( Have fun & glad DH is doing so well! Annie, I guess it's pot roast weekend on the CF. I've got one stovetop (chuck) now in my LC...smells heavenly. I forced myself to let it sear a full 15 minutes & I got wonderful color & flavor. Usually, I'm impatient & it only gets half that amount of time. shaun, happy birthday to your daughter! amck, we lived in Bedford. I was in Loudon a couple months ago. My DS lived in Exeter within sight of Mustangs' family (near the little triangular park). Small world, huh? Lyra, I'm glad you're getting the OT. Very uncertain times. Not sure about the RK though! lol Cathy, the parades sound like fun. I'd probably like the kid's parade the best! lol Enjoy the festivities & visit with your family. I'm not sure what we're doing this weekend. DH is, as I'm typing, stuck in a dentist chair upstate NY. He was out of town & got a toothache. Turns out he needs a root canal & a dentist squeezed him in at 3 p.m. this afternoon. Not sure if he's going to feel like making the drive to Mystic tonight. I've got a pot roast cooking...better make some smashed potatoes in case DH does decide to make the drive & can't chew! I also made a fresh blackberry pie this morning before I knew about his tooth...wonder if he can manage the seeds? If not, I'm going to be stuffed! We got the last of the new window blinds installed Wednesday & had planned on rearranging furniture this weekend. I'm just staying loose until I hear how DH's doing. Hopefully, as soon as they get it drained his pain will go away! Have a great weekend everybody! /tricia

Good morning, Karen, take care of yourself and up the vitamin C. I hate strep. Being allergic to most antibiotics I have to go every day for a shot of the only antibiotic I can take. Such a pain. Let's look at the bright side... You may feel too bad to eat and lose a few extra pounds! :) Poor Baby. I'm not trying to make fun of you. Just trying to make you smile. Jas, 15 minutes from the beach! How awesome is that!!!! We started camping with a tent. Then a friend gave us a good deal on a older pop-up. Nothing fancy, but has air conditioning. The older I get the less I can handle these hot, muggy, sweaty days. Harold, I know what you mean about the glasses. I take mine off and turn off the light at night , wake up and reach for them first thing in the morning. Otherwise my world is REALLY fuzzy! Ek, That waist is so tiny I got my magnifying glass out to see it! Encouraging is what Harold does best. Which Carolina are you from? I love both. Our favorite vacation is Nags Head. If it is just the 2 of us we like the off season so we can have the beach to ourselves. Snuck away one New Years and it was GRAND! We were all alone on Pea Island and the sea shells were fantastic!!!! Dh and I have a running contest of who finds the biggest seashell and biggeat piece of sea glass. He ALWAYS wins. One year after a storm I found a gallon vinegar jar washed up and claimed the biggest sea glass for the day!! He said I cheated, but I don't care!! His favorite was when I found a tall wooden step ladder washed up and dragged it forever to reach the truck. Hey, it was already salt treated! I spent a week in Chapel Hill with my niece last May. Loved the shopping. It's a beautiful town. We finally made it to Hilton Head year before last with another niece. Even sneaked down to Savannah and had lunch at 'The Lady and Sons' and checked out the beautiful homes while we were there. I'm dreading starting to work out to tone and tighten. I really need inspiration for that. I can do the treadmill, no problem. But, I don't even want to talk about all of that ab, thigh, etc. I am lazy,lazy.lazy. I will get off of the treadmill and stand in front of the mirror and do maybe 10 bicep curls, tricep extensions, and side leg raises and that's it. Hopefully when I lose a little more weight I can get motivated. I've got this lower stomach thing going on that I've had since I had my hystorectomy 22 years ago. It almost looks like the Dr forgot to bring the muscles back down and sew them back together and they 'pouch' out, for lack of a better word. My niece says she has the same little area since her cancer operation. Maybe the Pilates would help with that? I hope everyone has a great day. Betty

I will be dining with Gadgets tonite thank you!! Everything sounds so yummy. My guys are out on the back deck chatting around the BBQ, so I am here in my office staying out of the way. I made a potato salad earlier, and some spicy chicken breasts for my DD. She is here cleaning house for me, which is a godsend with company here. Gotta love her. I am one lucky cookie. Trin

We have DGD her this weekend, so I just slipped a pan of homemade mac and cheese in the oven. Her and I made chocolate pudding for dessert. It's in the fridge now.
Hubby has a pizza from papa murphys left from yesterday he's chomping at the bit to make.
We will have tons of food here today!
Cold and windy here in Fort Worth, so now I am staying inside.
DGD and I went and took the pup for her rabies shot this morning, and then I went grocery shopping and ran errands, so we have been busy. Glad to sit and chill for the remainder of the day.....ahhhhh

Leftover Mexican food from lunch out: chips and salsa, shrimp, zucchini, summer squash, onions over rice with a cheese sauce over everything. I could only eat less than half after eating all those chips. I brought chips and salsa home too and flan.

Don't know what Alex is going to eat. Lauren just left with her girl scout troup to Lexington. They're going skating and will probably eat snack foods out.

Everybody's dinner sounds so good. Yesterday I made a corned beef casserole from our leftover corned beef/cabbage dinner earlier this week. It was delicious so we're having it again tonight. We biscuits.

Homemade biscuits & gravy. The really, really good kind. Bacon grease to make the gravy in...just like Granny used to make, and we're stuffed.

Boneless chicken breasts slow baked with a mixture of cream of mushroom soup, low fat sour cream, and onion soup mix; homemade mashed potatoes, and fresh green beans. No dessert for me, I'm on Day 6 of no sugar(after an awful holiday of overeating junk!)

I tried a new recipe tonight and it's a WINNER! Arrange 4-6 chicken breasts in a baking dish. Mix 1 cup sour cream, 1/2 cup dijon mustard & 1/4 cup white wine and pour over chicken. Cover dish with aluminum foil. Bake at 350 X 40 mins., then uncover and bake 10 mins. more. Served with pasta and broccoli tonight. YUM! (Next time I'll add some mushrooms to the chicken for unneeded oomph -- we just like mushrooms.) Pat
