Who will be watching American Idol tonight?

Tonight is the start of the auditions. This isn't my favorite part of the show (I like it when they get to the finalists), but I'll watch anyhow. It'll be interesting to see how a fourth judge works.. what will they do if 2 say "Yes" and 2 say "No"?? OR maybe 1 judge will get each day off, so only 3 are doing the judging at this point?

I'm not crazy about the auditions either, Lydia, but will be watching tonight and every night! LOL! I've heard that this year's preliminary shows will not focus so much on the zanies, and more on the good people. I'm thankful for that. I think Idol encouraged the weird ones by showing so much of them on tv.

We've not enjoyed the show on tv so much in ages, made me think once again how great it'd be to have more entertaining and little less competition, to bring best of Idols and have some extra fun for everyone. No matter, all are winners, except me and especially my daughter, will be listening to Katherine and my younger daughter to Chris (her forever Idol). I think Taylor got the votes for being a friendly country guy -if the show was about congeniality he'd get my votes, he had fun and made us join in the fun, appearing more self-confident- a few years older helps, even if he was at times comical with his dances-we can all use more fun. It reminded us of the times when the "She Bangs" guy was picked as the winner on line, lol. We're fine with the fact Katherine took the 2nd place- it's almost or as grand as the top. I don't know Colton Berry personally, but he is very well known in the area. He lives about 15 miles from where I live. Excerpt from our newspaper: Colton is well-known to area theater fans. The 17-year-old has long been a fixture in the area fine arts community. Berry has directed and starred in musicals since he was 16, including "Beauty and the Beast," "Jeckyl and Hyde," "Chicago" and a completely sold-out production of "Aida." The High School senior also performed with the 2006 production of "Big River" and the 2007 musical "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum." I liked Amanda, but I knew it would be this week or next as she doesn't fit the mold for Idol, nor did she really try. I also don't think she had any intention of winning this thing, it was exposure she was after and she got it. The reason she rarely smiled was because it didn't fit her image. Did you see her when she finally did, egged on by Simon? She looked like the girl next door! Put her in scrubs, with her hair pulled back, add the smile (she was TRYING not to on Idol), she's probably a great nurse. Wonder if she dyed her hair just for Idol? Hmmmm. I think she took this opportunity for everything it was worth and on her terms... well played IMHO. Somebody was definitely waiting in the wings to sign her up and she's probably glad she's no longer married to Idol. IMHO, Kristy's next. Then Carly. bestlawn took the words out of my head..."She's a great technician with no appeal." Spot on!

Thanks so much for the click and drag, bestlawn. I am always missing the elimination show, and I hate to wait like a day and a half to be able to see on the A.I. website who was voted off. Did y'all notice on the previous show this week, David Hernandez kept talking about his place of work being a pizzaria or something like that, in his interview? Maybe he worked there part time or off and on, briefly at the last or something. But I think he was trying to distance himself from his real place of employment - the gay strip club - since that had been found out and talked about all over the internet. As busy as they are with the grueling practice and rehearsals, they must have some kind of feedback available as to what is going on with the nation-wide audience. I love the auditions, but I started watching The Biggest Loser last week for the first time. Not sure what to do....

Not my favorite part either, but I will be watching because of my broken ankle I have nothing else to do but read or watch tv. I like AI when they are done with the auditions.

I'm not sure if I can take another season of AI. I can't stand all the bickering and insults. I will probably get sucked in. My kids and DH love it and we only have one TV. Well not really, my computer is also a TV I just don't like sitting alone in the bedroom watching by myself. I usually don't start watching it until they go to Hollywood.

Me! Me! Me! I think the auditions are hilarious, but I love the actual competition. Yeah, there's bickering and other stuff, but I figure that's just one of their ways to fill the hour, and I guess some people actually go for that.

I'm there! Been waiting for the new season, although I must say-next year during the tryouts-I will be even more excited as a 16 yr old stunning, talented gal from here-is trying out. She was told last year when she was 15 yrs old-too young,but "we're keeping an eye out for you for next year"! Well, she turned 16 this past month. She has made a CD already & guest sings with a popular group in our area, about once a month. Awesome voice!

I will definitely be watching. Like others, the auditions aren't my favorite part of the show but it does give me a chance to pick an early favorite and follow them along the way.
